Punjabi is a small, moderately decorated and cheap semi bistro-ish Indian place somewhat outside…read morethe Lund city centre that offers much needed heat but sadly no depth. There is a reason why I chose the term semi bistro-ish when describing Punjabi and that is cause I strongly suspect this place is not run by chefs. I think this place is run by semi but nevertheless enthusiast cooks perhaps former or current exchange students that like many others are facing the current tough and disappointing Swedish job market. As such the place suffers from inadequate Indian cuisine knowledge as well as insufficient quality control thus tend to take some deceiving short cuts. For instance the meatballs in hot sauce are not hand rolled Koftas they are in fact out of freezer semi-finished Cevapcici sticks cooked and finished in a hot sauce. What is also done to the basmati rice is another sign of insufficient quality control as the rice is of a lumpy, mushy and sticky character. There is sufficient amount of heat and punch in the dishes but no much depth and complexity. Punjabi just recently opened thus they do deserve to be cut some slack as there is still hope and time for improvement by becoming a well oiled kitchen. Here is a suggestion to start with; buffet table temperature control, your food at the buffet needs not only to pack heat but be served hot, it is sadly lukewarm.

Fantastic authentic food ! I really enjoyed the dishes…read more Real traditional cuisine and good dishes. And very reasonable prices. I recommend having a mango lassie too. They're delicious and huge! Kind staff and arranging, they'll happily provide you with a box to take the rests home, and they do take-away.

After looking at some good reviews for this place I decided to give it a try & see whether this…read moreplace will live upto my expectation. I deducted 1 star as the staff was really blunt & not too helpful when it came to my food. I do love my food but like it being spicy, unfortunately they were only willing to be flexible with 1 of my dishes as they said it is not possible. Interesting enough I've tried the same at a different place & they have been willing. Now with regards to taste of good, I'll say it is not too bad & you get decent taste, although I like the taste at a different naan place as they are absolutely fabulous. I ordered a cheese naan & asked whether it wld be Paneer naan & I was told yes, but when I ate it that was not the case. Overall I wld say this is a decent take away place, but there is another place which is much better than this one.

This place suffers a bit of false advertising, otherwise I would have given it 3 stars. I wanted to…read moreorder the chicken tikka masala with naan that was displayed on a sticker outside but unfortunately they do not make that (that day? anymore? did they ever make it?). Also, my friend had ordered there before and was a bit surprised that his kebab naan did not come with salad as pictured on the menu. We asked about that and apparently they do not have ANY salad in the shop! "It's just for the photo," we were told. And although there was a VISA sticker on the window, they do not take cards. Only cash and mobilepay. The food took a little over 20 minutes to come out. We took it back home and I was a bit disappointed to see the butter chicken was 6 small pieces of chicken in a neon orange sauce which had dripped all over the inside of the bag. It didn't look good but it tasted ok. The plain naan was very nice with great texture and it was very good for soaking up the surplus of sauce. After I finished the naan the creamy, heavy sauce became too much for me and I started feeling a little nauseaous. Luckily there was some cooked rice ready at home and that improved the dish. My friend let me try some aalo (potato) naan, qeema (spiced beef) naan, and cheese naan and they were all excellent; especially the aalo which was pleasantly spicy. The chutney was also good with a refreshing mint flavour. It was pretty cheap so I may come back, but next time I will just get the delicous naan with chutney and skip the chicken stuff.
