We were very excited about having stumbled upon a little Indian restaurant in the middle of Alvor, Portugal so we decided to check this place out.
The interior is nicely decorated, but seating is pretty cramped and my chair kept hitting the person behind me, which was quite awkward.
The food itself was pretty good, but not delicious. I was less than impressed with the prices, as the curries and vindaloos range from 6-10 Euros each and that does NOT include rice, naan, or anything else to serve the dishes atop of. Rice and naan are an extra 2-4 Euros each, and water is essential for spicy Indian food so the meal got quite expensive quickly.
Although our servers were kind and friendly, there was some serious difficulty at the end of the meal with splitting our bills. We were three friends paying for separate meals but unfortunately the staff were very reluctant to give us each our own bill. In fact, they assumed that it was okay to charge the entire meal on my credit card and have my friends pay me back in cash afterwards. I explained that this is not acceptable since I will be charged a conversion fee (Canadian $ to Euros) and he simply replied with, "Well, this is really getting complicated and quite frustrating." I guess we are blessed in Canada to have no difficulties splitting bills?
I likely wouldn't return here again if I visited. read more
