I've been to Tasteocracy a few times for paid taste testing. You get paid to try food and answer questions about the product. It's all anonymous, you don't know the brands or anything. The process for the most part is pretty simple. They email you surveys to determine if you qualify for the test. If you qualify you pick a time (during the test date). You show up, show your ID and answer a few questions to check in. They give you seat (or more recently they make you wait and could possibly turn you away if they get enough seats filled in the needed demographic). Once the testing starts you are at desk with an iPad (super easy screens with directions), you get water and they start bringing out samples and you follow the screen prompts. Once's it's over, they give you a check and you head out! They pay around $35 an/hour which isn't bad. Some test are multiple days. You could also quality to go into focused groups which you also get paid more for as well. You can test once every 60 days. For a while it was hard to qualify for test so I stopped doing it but every now and then I check to see what they have going on. read more

I have been with Tasteocracy for years and never had a problem until they started with a company called Tremendous to pay their people. This is a scam. You will have to jump through hoops to sign up and get your payment (whereas before they simply handed you a check upon departure.) There is an expiration on the payment. If you get an e voucher you have to use the exact amount on the balance and most websites don't allow that. I tried getting my balance and Tremendous has bot for customer service so don't expect a human. The process is not user friendly. It's really too bad that this taste testing group when this route because it's not fair to take time out of your day only to get screwed out of what was promised. read more

This is a really fun opportunity to get paid to eat! If you pre-qualify via an online questionnaire you get to choose from specific times on a certain date to show up to their offices. Once there you fill out a paper form similar to what was on the online questions. Confirm you don't have allergies. Show your photo ID and get assigned a respondent number. When it's time to start you file into a second room and sit at the table with your assigned number. They give you specific instructions to follow. Take a bit of saltine cracker to cleanse your pallette, sip of water, take at least 3 bites of your taste test item. Pay attention! Sometimes the first few questions are your opinions about how the item looks. Then you get to taste test. There is some down time so bring a magazine or book to read while they hand samples out. They frown on electronic versions because it's top secret! That's also why I'm trying to be rather general. You are tasting items before they're going to be sold in the grocery store. It's like Fight Club, but with food. The first rule is...well you can tell your friends you taste test. They're always looking for additional testers. They mainly test in Plymouth, but have some in Blaine sometimes too. It's really a fun opportunity to make around $40 for a little over an hour of your time usually. They also have a cool option where you can donate like $5 or $10 of your payment to a local non-profit! I was donating to a local youth program. I think they still offer it. So sign up! These folks know how to manage consumer tests. The front desk is usually quick and efficient with getting you checked in and ready to participate. One of the things I like most is that they get right to it. They also don't have you hanging about once the study is done. A friend tipped me off about FPI, and how can you go wrong with getting paid to eat? You simply go to the FPI website, log in, and a link to a survey for the latest testing opportunity should appear on your profile. If, after taking the survey, you qualify to participate in a test, then you get to choose the date, time, and location of the test that best fits within your schedule. When you arrive, you sign in and wait until you are called. You take the test, which can last from 30 to 45 minutes, sometimes more, then collect your check and that's it! The process is very organized, efficient, and prompt. The only slight downside for me is having to wait two months in between test times, so if I participated in a test in January, I would not be able to test again until March. Bummer, but I get that it's probably set up that way so they can have a broad database of testers from which they can choose. Sometimes, they allow children to participate in tests, also. DO NOT GO HERE. This used to be called Food Perspectives. I have been signed up and actively attending sessions for 10+ years with these guys. Food Perspectives was great. When they changed their name, that is not all that changed. They are horrible. They lie. They are rude. They send out bogus notifications about tests that are available. I use to get qualified for testing fairly regularly and have been involved in numerous tests over the past few years. However the past 8 months this company has made it impossible to qualify for testing. In the past I occasionally would be disqualified for testing but would usually find a test that I qualified for. I have now been disqualified for tests 8 times in a row. I don't have any food allergies, always answer questions truthfully, but for some reason that is not good enough for this company anymore. On their qualifying surveys they ask if you recently have purchased a particular food group i.e. (deli meat, cheese, crackers or something of the sort) and of course I have most recently. The most recent survey I had purchased all the food categories they asked for and within the past month or even sooner. I was disqualified. ?????? For what reason???? Don't you want testers that have a knowledge base and have actually purchased these types of products????? I called their customer support to complain but they only provide a generic response such as the customer is looking for different criteria???? Are you serious?? What criteria? How could I not be more qualified. Makes no sense and like I said this is the 8th and 'FINAL' time. I deactivated my account. May be I will search for other food testing companies. I would 'SKIP' this one if you are looking for one. read more

When they were Food Perspectives I would get test to attend. Now in almost I year, I never seem to qualify. Their system will email and call saying they need testers for a specific day. I respond on the questionnaire and then I'm told "sorry you don't qualify". That's ridiculous. They have my full profile - age, income, food likes/dislikes, main purchaser of goods in the house, etc. Why are you reaching out to me if I don't qualify? Also, in the past they used to donate to my charity on top of paying me. Now I have to donate from my funds. I feel the new ownership is just greedy and a bad representation for non-profits. read more
