I'm so confused that Taste Vin doesn't have a Yelp review already! Yelpers, we have got to catch up to those folks on TripAdvisor when it comes to reviewing restaurants outside the U.S! Ok, anyways... Taste Vin is located down a narrow side street off of Asti's main drag. If you pass by during off-hours you'll never see it unless you walk right up to the door, but during business hours you'll spot them by their few outdoor patio tables and their menu board, which rests atop a large wine barrel.
Taste Vin does brisk business (because they're a great restaurant!) so I'd recommend either a reservation, or just not going during their hottest times (late on a Friday or Saturday). The dishes are some of the finest quality food I've ever had in Italy, and yet the prices are incredibly reasonable (hovering around 10 euro depending on what you order). Wine selection is also fantastic, and the wine prices generally start at 4 euro and go up from there.
Service can be brisk if you go during a busy period, but don't take it personally. If you want a more genteel experience, simply come early or during the week and you'll have more of a chance for conversation with their amazing staff.
The inside has great ambiance, but can get quite warm, so try to sit on the patio if you can manage it. There are no individual menus so PRO TIP: make sure you scan the menu sitting outside and know what you want to order before being seated!
In addition to being a full service restaurant, they also have a lovely selection of wines and other artisanal products for purchase. read more
