Eventually, a staff member noticed us awkwardly lingering by the "wait here" sign and showed us to a table, which was nice... until they vanished into the abyss. I placed my arm down on the table and it was a genuine struggle to lift it again--it was that sticky. Menus? Nowhere to be seen. We had to flag someone down just to figure out how things worked. And when it came time to order--of course--it was QR codes. Because nothing screams warm hospitality like squinting at your phone and hoping you've tapped the right thing. Drinks took a decade and a half. Just as I'd accepted dehydration, everything arrived at once--pints, plates, and a little bit of panic. The food? To be fair, it was alright. Nothing to write home about--classic pub grub. Dessert was the one glimmer of hope: quick service, decent portions, no complaints there. I thought we were finally turning a corner... until The Incident. One of the lads headed to the bathroom and ended up locked in. I went in to help and immediately regretted it. The place looked like it hadn't seen a mop--or a renovation--since the Cold War. Holes in the wall, toilet paper floating in mystery puddles, and a smell I'm pretty sure is now part of my DNA. After a successful rescue mission--completely unaided by the staff, who were nowhere to be found--we made a swift exit. No goodbyes. Just a mutual understanding that we would not be back. In short: it's cheap, it's cheerful(ish), but it's seriously lacking in TLC--and a working toilet door wouldn't go amiss either. What it's really missing, though? Human interaction. We saw our server twice in the hour and a half we were there.

Most of the other bars within a mile radius of this joint seem to close down - perhaps it's to do with how clogged up this road is with traffic, or the fact that the sparse bars this area has to offer seem squashed and exposed at the bottom of flats the 80s produced. For all these reasons, Three Craws is like a spacious and family orientated ranch compared to that. It's part of a chain so expect the standard pub fayre - fish and chips, bangers and mash, two for £8 pound deals...I used to eat in here quite a lot with my ex's family and we always enjoyed the food. It was stodgy and wholesome. Nevertheless, we had the same complaint as Gillian did with bar staff. They were always ice cold and not too eager to help when things went wrong with the orders...which they had a tendency to. We had a running joke that everytime we visited the Three Craws, the drink we wanted to order wouldn't be available. Towards the end of our visits there, it was not so much a joke than a reason not to return. I don;t know if it was to do with the fact we visited on Sundays (which was quiz night at the time) but my ex's dad had various grumbles about the poor selection of ales. Rather than encourage the staff to amend the situation, they often seemed irate that we were dissatisfied. I work in customer service and the last thing you want is a complaint but we were very mild mannered and understanding of the whole thing, so to be treated by staff the way customers can often be rude to you at the other end, it's just gets my goat. It wasn't the end of the world that we couldn't always get decent beer or ales on tap, but a bit more sympathy would've been nice. This was a while ago now so the staff have no doubt changed but certainly when we visited the staff had a knack of blowing a chill into the air of an otherwise cosy, laid back pub. Hopefully something's been changed on that front because we otherwise have no complaints!

At the bar you can buy a bottomless draft soft drink that would be refilled on presentation of your glass. One thing that most places that I go to lack in is properly trained or polite staff, in this place staff would say to enjoy your meal, we had a guy come to check on us several occasions. Food was a 5/5 I couldn't fault these guys, our only issue was that we ordered desserts to go and was given the wrong ones, if it wasn't for that they would have got a 5/5 rating.

It is easy to find as it is pretty much the only restaurant/bar in that area. It also has its own beer garden and in the summer this must be a plus. I believe that this building was once an old Mill and you might think so from the name it got today :-) Inside the floor is covered with typical Scottish designed red carpet, dark furnishing, wooden benches and beams. There is no doubt the restaurant downstairs has its charms. On the other side of the room, away from the dining tables there is a small bar with lots of different whiskey choices. Upstairs you will find additional seating and a small whisky bar with lots of different whiskey's on offer and for sale. The most expensive one costs £1500 Highland Park and last week they sold a £3000 special edition of some sort. No worries, you can also buy affordable whiskey from well known brands. Our voucher deal offered a starter and main course for a very good price. We ordered Shrimp salad and baked brie as a starter. The brie was soft and filling (you get two pieces), served with cranberry sauce. There was no brie spared. As a main we ordered Chicken Fajitas and it came with 3 sauces (salsa, sour cream, guacamole). Not only this, the chicken was served still on a hot plate, sizzling in delicious spices hot and mild, garnished with peppers and onions and a delicious sauce of some sort, which made the taste even more delicious. We also decided on coffee and with it they served a small piece of fudge, which was such a nice gesture. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My lemon sole, a special of the day, was utterly tasteless, and didn't have the slightest hint of lemon. Not even a lemon wedge. And it was raw in the middle. Yuck! The worst part of our experience was the absolutely horrendous service, which was so incredibly slow that it was obnoxious. Waitresses buzzed past our table in their hurry to other tables, while we sat for an eternity. The only explanation I can think of is that my husband is Black, and we've encountered this issue before at restaurants. In any case, the service was downright inexcusable. I wouldn't ever go back.

The surrounding pub had their fare share of food and drinks as well. You'll have your selection of burgers, pub food, and so on. Definitely would come back to this place and for sure will give the other gastropub a try. Love the cool vibe and outdoor feel even though your inside. Thankfully, that isn't the case here, as the Metropolitan is exactly as you'd imagine it to be from it's name. sleek, shiny, shallow, but with a brilliant cocktail list and a buzzy enough atmosphere, even if it is often full of people chattering about property prices. The cocktail list is huge and unusual, thankfully bereft of french martinis, and the staff were very friendly on our visit. It's by no means cheap, but definitely a pleasant way to spend an evening.

Portions were very generous and food tasted as good as it looks!! They have a slush puppy machine for the kids and you can add a dash of your favourite spirit to make it a Bit harder!!
