I was initially introduced to Al's Popcorn from Jayme's Elite event she did here once. It was a great experience and so I decided to come back more often and get my favorite flavor of vanilla butternut. Al's does a great job letting their customers try all the Popcorn before purchasing them. I love the flavor options as well. The seasonal are just as great. I highly recommend joining their perks program because after spending so much money you get money off towards your next visit. Today for example, I got $10 off my entire purchase. Unfortunately, I didn't care for any of the popcorn that I tried. I'm not really sure why. I love caramel corn, but the flavors just didn't seem bold enough to me. Perhaps it didn't impress me because I'll be forever comparing popcorn to the gold standard - Garrett's Popcorn in Chicago. And let's face it, if you've ever had Garrett's, you'll agree that there is just no comparison. I took a bite of my niece's leftover cheesecake one night and I was impressed at how creamy it was. I made it a point to follow them on social media. I quickly found out that it's a pretty limited food truck- they really only have a few hours on the weekends when they are available. But I made it point to get here on a Saturday to test out a few slices for myself. I got the Peanut Butter Brownie and the Chocolate. Both slices were absolutely fantastic! This is the best local cheesecake I've had (I still really love Cheesecake Factory and Junior's in NYC). But these cheesecakes are so fresh and creamy. I also love that they have a classic peanut butter flavor (something Cheesecake Factory doesn't have out of their countless offerings!) I devoured both of my slices and am already looking forward to my next visit. They tend to frequent suburbs (Westerville, Grove City, Reynoldsburg), but I really would love if they make a trip downtown soon! Either way, I'm ready for my next slice!

Their food truck came to my company today and wow am I glad they did. The texture of the cheesecake was so smooth and not like regular cheesecake, but trust me it was better. Each Buckeye is a minimum of two bites. My favorite stuffed flavor is puppy chow. Last night I tried key lime. The sour citrus definitely shone. The choices are clearly labeled. They have a rewards program which will net you two wax paper covered regular Buckeyes. The service is always excellent. They are game for small talk about the flavors, the business, weather, etc. even though I'm sure they've heard it all before. It's a small space but don't be discouraged if there's a line. It usually goes fast.

It is just to the north of Wendy's, and you can turn in off High or down the little alley that runs directly behind Wendy's. They don't have the nostalgia candies anymore, but they do have plenty of good chocolates. The owner was super friendly, give me a couple samples and asked my tastes to figure out what I might like. I ended up with a pound of turtles and some chocolate covered pretzels. They are very very very good. You can buy them by the pound, although I think you can also get a half pound or whatever. But hey, it's good stuff, and although I will try to make it last, I know it will be gone pretty soon. Walk-ins are only on Wednesdays, so check their website for hours. Most of their business is online, and they have free delivery to a lot of Columbus, so that is probably a good idea for most. I happened to be nearby and made sure I came during their open hours. But hey now, free delivery of excellent chocolate? I will keep that in mind as a gift, or as a gift for myself.

They had plenty of standard items, plus a bunch of things for Easter. Bunnies, crosses, etc., in various shapes, sizes, milk/dark chocolate, etc. I had to get a bunny for Baby K, of course, and she liked it. No sugar free, so nothing for my mom (though dark chocolate would be better for diabetics.) They had just made peanut butter eggs, so one of those for Sweetie. And then I had to keep myself from getting one of everything for me. Ended up with eagles (turtles,) toffee, and bacon brittle. The eagles are excellent: rich chocolate, good caramel and nuts, one is enough but you will want more. The toffee is good, pretty hard so none for Baby K or anyone with bad teeth, wrapped in rich dark chocolate. Haven't tried the brittle yet, but come on, bacon, you know I had to get some. Yeah, yeah, there are peanuts in there, too. I bought too much, and yet am afraid I will run out too quickly. Prices are a little high but you get what you pay for- this is good stuff. Glad to see local businesses making it through this. Glad this place is here. I'll be back. Note: the sign says Eagle Family Candy, not John Eagle, and it's a tiny place so use GPS and be careful. Sadly, while out of state Goumas fell off my radar but I'm here today to remind everyone how wonderful Goumas candy is and encourage you to visit one of their locations. They have three locations: Heath, Ohio, Granville, Ohio, and Newark, Ohio. We stopped in while waiting for the Licking County Courthouse Christmas lighting and for a brief time we were the only ones in the store located on the North side of the square in downtown Newark, Ohio. The cases were full of delightful candies and the two ladies behind the counter were cheerful and fun. They greeted us right away and my family chose several delectable candies ranging from chocolate covered Oreos and potato chips, to English Toffee, to Coconut Haystacks, to a wide range of truffles (my personal favorite). I escaped with a bag full of goodies to sample as we walked around the square as well as a box of assorted truffles. I highly recommend a visit to one of their three locations and don't forget to pick up your buckeyes!
