A very very mixed bag
We passed this place before and it looked pretty interesting, mostly locals inside. So we came back two nights later, trying the food that looked very appetizing in the window.
We took a table outside, inside it was full and it wasn't too cold yet anyways. Service was friendly, a bit communication problems (our portugese was as good as his english, fair enough), but plenty of pictures on the menu anyway. We ordered mostly Petiscos. Besides some beer and wine we had a bunch of fried Petiscos first. Not exactly sure with what fillings. Some good, some not that much. One tasted a bit like liver....that was a good one!
Then some fried little fish. Nice, crispy and fresh. Some Octopus Salad (very very good), Some kinda Bacalhau-Chickpea Salad (also a great choice) and a huge amount of fish eggs / roe (fantastic, great great value).
The biggest let-down were the Portugese Sausages. About four different kind. I knew they're gonna be fatty (and they were), but a lot worse was the fact that they were unbelievably chewy and had some really tough pieces of gristle. Not a good choice at all.
So, it has its up and downs. Fried stuff .... ok. Sausages.....bad. The cold (and salad) dishes.....top choice! A really mixed bag. Not a place we did go back, but surely was fun for a night and worth trying. read more
