First day in the area and I was looking for a place with local cuisine. Being it was between lunch and dinner. most places were closed, only had cafe and pastries or served non-traditional meals. When I came upon this place, it didn't take long to realize they had more options than what was on the menu.
After speaking with a gentleman behind the counter, I was able to order local cuisine, such as boiled cod with chickpeas and an egg, a traditional Christmas time meal. Don't let the "boiled" part scare you, it's really good, especially with a drizzling of olive oil.
Although the menu did not specify, they do have a full bar and I was able to get a well-made gin and tonic.
For dessert he recommended AMARELINHO (BOLACHA, OVOS, CANELA), which paired well with my cappuccino.
Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the place. By the time I was done I was satisfied and very happy with my traditional meal. read more
