Everything is very simple, but amazingly delicious -- the mark of a really, really great chef. The manioc was fantastic -- creamy inside, crispy outside. The lentil hummus comes with carrots (yay! so much better than bread). The pumpkin was also very good. We ordered the green beans (the sauce was very different -- creamy sesame seed, very good) and okra (also very different, the sauce was a bit addictive) as side dishes. I had the eggplant main. This was out of this world. It was the best eggplant thing I have ever had. And we also had the fish -- also very good. Oh, and the atmosphere is beautiful. It is a like a garden with lights and trees and very comfy chairs. And the service was fantastic! They were really nice -- they were super accommodating of allergies.

Drinks were very well done and would def come back here just to try some more of them. Ambiance is nice--it's built to make you feel like you're eating inside a garden. Perfect for a first date. Food was good-- tried the mushrooms and the fish of the day. They were both well done and tasty, but nothing mind blowing enough for me to award 5 stars. Would recommend, maybe there are better things to try out on the menu. Flan for desert was subpar, wouldn't do it.

The day were were there, they had only a feijoada buffet. Starts with a huge salad bar. On the side had a table with thinly sliced prosciutto, olives, and hard cheese. Servers also brought various delicious breads and sausages to table. Then the feijoada buffet. It's a traditional bean and rice dish, where you add various meat in sauce toppings. Too many different choices of meats, but I tried them all, except the pig ear. The owner stood by and made sure to offer assistance if needed. A true host. You can tell he is proud of his establishment and maintains very high standards. Even the chef (owner's son) came out to make sure diners were having a great dining experience. Then a massive dessert table. And everything was delicious. On top of that, the waiter brought a papaya fruit purée thing with a liquor added. Refreshing. Ambiance: a perfect blend of trendy upscale casual with old world charm. Clean, very clean, very nice, top everything. If you are in São Paulo, you must come here. Can't wait to come back.

Wasn't very hungry so just tried the 'Ceviche Mixto' - the flavours really pop and it's a very nicely served individual portion - you could share it but you wouldn't want to. La Peruana is originally a food truck that has now opened 'cevicherias' - fixed restaurants. The principal staff like the ceviche chef, barman etc are Peruvian and they do a great job. It wasn't too crowded when I arrived shortly after 7pm, but it soon became pretty full, reflecting its apparent popularity. I wasn't too sure how to order--are the ceviches intended as a starter or a main, and what size is everything?--but the staff are helpful, and I decided to have anticuchos of veal heart as a starter, followed by the ceviche mixto, and see how I got on with that. I also ordered a Pisco sour, of course. The anticuchos come as two skewers with four slices of meat on each, together with a spicy sauce. This was really excellent, with deep flavours, good texture and just the right amount of food. The ceviche came next, and it looked wonderful, with bright colours and plated appealingly. I sat at the bar, so I saw the chef make each batch of ceviche to order, tasting the marinade each time to make sure it was well balanced between citrus, salt and spice. Mine was surely excellent, and I decided there was no need to have anything else. Pricing is very reasonable, too.
