Worst Target check out ever. Jacqueline (the cashier) was extremely rude. Told me I can not use my card twice (whatever that means!!!??!) because the system was down. Then said to me -"the system is down, do you understand that?" I could not believe she was talking to me that way, and I asked to speak to the manager which she completely ignored. I asked again and she was acting like she couldn't hear me. The system wasn't down as it turned out. I left furious. One shitty employee! Unbelievable! read more

I love target and I love this location, but I was there shopping today and for self check out there's a helper to help to you if you have a question. But he wasn't wearing gloves or a mask as he would walk right up to people and touch their products. One woman yelled at him and said get away from me because he walked right up to her face without a mask and. Without gloves. Bravo and thank you to the smiling and helpful workers stocking the shelves while we are in the middle of this craziness. I found almost everything that I was looking for and was treated quite kindly. Unsure which would be "more sanitary" with my two items, going through the self-checkout or just passing through a traditional cashier's line, a clerk was quite patient as I weighed my options. I was followed multiple times around the store by the same person pretending to fix up stock. Also while using self check-out, the scanner would scan one item twice. Also a team member looked through our bags to make sure we weren't stealing anything. I visited on 9/1 around 9:30 pm. I feel that I was profiled due to being Asian descent. This store is really close to my house so I came in exercise clothes. Did I have to dress up so I wouldn't be followed around the store and have my bags looked through? read more

I came here tonight to pickup something I had ordered online for in-store pickup. I usually shop at the Westwood Target but was excited to visit this new store closer to my house. The person (middle aged manager or supervisor I believe) who asked for my name needs some serious cultural exposure and sensitivity training. Her first comment 'I am not even going to pronounce that name'. After I helped her pronounce my last name, her second comment 'Do you expect me to say that name over the intercom'. After I picked up my item, her final comment was another snide remark about my name. Exasperated, I asked her what the problem was, and told her it's as common as her name is in the US before walking out. Hard to believe I experienced this in this day and age of all places in West LA where I've lived for over 22 years. I felt like I was back in Oklahoma where I went to graduate school 30 some years ago. Way to go Target! Back to shopping at the Westwood Target or maybe not at any Target at all. read more

This was the saddest, smallest Target I've ever been to. Sure it's LA, but what's the point of being Target if you're going to have 1/16 what other stores do? Exceptionally poorly managed store. I experienced bad service here. They discriminate against people with disabilities (was my experience), then try to cover it up. The Westwood store is better but harder to get to. As pointed out by another reviewer, prices are not even across all Targets, and this store's pricing is higher. It only makes sense to go if you have an online order where you know the low price in advance, and pick stuff up. read more

This Target is 2 blocks from my house. I was excited to visit the new store. Upon arrival they informed me that I cannot bring my small, on leash, dog inside the store. When I asked "why?" the manager came out and said it was his personal decision to ban dogs from the store. He was very rude, self important, simply not pleasent. 4 other dog owners where turned away while I was there. The other dog owners seemed disgruntled and confused by this rule, and mentioned they wouldn't come back anytime soon. I this manager understands, this neighborhood is super dog friendly and locals won't visit the store as frequently unless they can bring there dogs along. The manager's decision will effect the store negativity. Such a new store isn't guaranteed to succeed, especially with bad management. In the meantime I will continue to go to CVS which has many of the same products as Target and allows/likes dogs. read more

I discovered this Target while trying to find a couple highly coveted items from the Target 20th Anniversary collection. I had called the store first to check if items were available. Five stars for Guest Service in answering my call (some Target's don't even answer phone calls!), then the same person actually checked the shelves for items. The staff then put items on hold for me. I drove 50miles one way to the store to pick up. Five stars for having covered parking and spaces available-- 1st hr free. Five stars that item was actually waiting for me to pick up. Three stars for size of store -- quite compact but not a surprise given its urban location on a very busy Santa Monica Blvd! Three stars for cashier customer service -- no hello, no smiles, and a bit rude in handing over the receipt. Four stars overall -- I am happy with my experience because I found what I was looking for after visiting 20+ Target's in California and NJ, and am impressed by their Guest Service "customer focus", given their urban location, exceeds that of other Target's I've been to in CA and NJ. PS--I found another high-coveted 20th anniversary item at this Target; Just bought it online for inperson pickup. I know they can be trusted & is convenient in terms of parking (not driving to there though). read more

Mini target...but has all the stuff you need. Great addition to the neighborhood! Parking is underneath. Free today, but they were installing ticket machines. Escalators from parking garage into target. Lifesaver today as i needed something from there emergently, and they had it in stock. Only thing is, make sure you check prices online, as they upcharged my item by $7 in the store. read more

Apparently this target doesn't bag your purchases for you when you bring your own bags. The cashier just piled up all my stuff at the little end area. And then the next person's just stacked up while I tried to pack mine up. And I had $60+ of groceries. The people who work here seem to be either really unhappy with their jobs or just don't care. Makes for a stressful and unpleasant shopping experience. Next time I'll just shop online. read more

Finally! A Target on the Westside. I used to go to the one in Westwood Village but I live in Brentwood so this is even closer and more convenient to me. Be aware it's hard to even tell it's a Target. Above it is regular apartments/condos so it's kind of inconspicuous. There's just a small, easy to miss Target sign to even know that it's there. read more

This Target is right next to my office, so I popped over before a shift for some snacks. I see why everyone feels like it is small, or doesn't stock the things they are looking for, but I think they've missed the point. It is clear that nothing about this is supposed to be a normal, full-size Target. And when you put it on par with the average Walgreens-esque convenience store (which it is clearly trying to emulate), the store is actually quite easy to navigate and comprehensive in what it offers. read more

This recently-opened, meager Target store is a major disappointment!!! It feels like it's stocked for college students who live in dorm rooms. There's a bunch of ready-to-eat refrigerated food but limited brands and flavors of things like soups. If you want potato chips there's an entire aisle. Lots of alcohol, but no peanuts in the shell. Lots of frozen food...it's as thought it's being stocked for someone who has a microwave but not a real kitchen. You want underwear? You'd better want Haines. You could go to Marshall's a half mile away and find a much better selection. Do you want other clothes? You're not going to get a lot of choices. Go to Ross or Marshall's. Electronic accessories? Go shop at Staples or Best Buy because you'll get a much better selection, and maybe somebody who knows the merchandise so they can help you. There's one of each those stores within a mile of this place. The music playing in the store is geared for 20-somethings...not my cup of tea. I've been in the Westwood store which is right next to UCLA, and it has a better variety of merchandise and doesn't feel as superficial as this store. It looked like they had lots of paper towels and TP and plastic bags and things like that off in one corner section. Smart & Final is 4 or 5 blocks away, so who needed this place? I would've looked for a floormat, but I doubt that they have them. I think of Target stores as being comprehensive, one-stop shopping kind of places. I walked out empty-handed. There's no point shopping there because I'd end up going to some other place to get the rest of what I need anyway. So what's the point? I live three blocks from the store and I thought I would be going there a lot. And I was worried that people were going to driving to that store from Brentwood and creating terrible traffic. They won't be coming to that store. It feels like a CVS with a little more floor space. It would've actually made more sense to put a fully stocked CVS store there so that they could feature a comprehensive selection of the categories of consumer products drug stores sell. Instead they're trying to be "all things to all people", but it's more like some things to some people. Thanks for nothing, Target! They didn't even let the surrounding neighborhood know they were open for the first couple of weeks. They finally send around a five-dollars off coupon. My mailman was the one who told me it was open 3 weeks ago. I was totally surprised. Now there is a billboards announcing their "grand" opening, but you have to be headed near the store to see it. There's something really cheesy about this store. Our neighborhood was never like that before. If I could give them 0 stars I would. That place is much ado about nothing! read more

Unless it's an emergency run for deodorant, skip it! I was so excited when I saw there was going to be a target coming in just around the corner from me! No more going to the dreaded Westwood location with its dingy lighting and weird mix designed for college students. Unfortunately I was so disappointed when I ventured in. I went for two things - and walked out empty handed. They only have one aisle of skin-care products, but for some reason have a large section dedicated to clothing. No one is walking into such a small Target expecting a large selection of clothing - especially not this neighborhood. Keep it to socks, undies and some bathing suits and that would adequately cover the needs of this area. Anyway, the point is - if you need more than the bare essentials - and maybe not even then - head down to the much larger store in Culver City for your needs. read more

This Target is a great city target. That what it is, those complaining about the size need to google what a city target is. If you want to go to the larger ones at UCLA or the one in Culver, go. For us locals who don't have a car or cannot travel far, this location is perfect. Plenty of parking, wish there were chargers. Employees are more than willing to help and while it doesn't have huge selections, it's much better than running to CVS, because that's your other option. read more

Very limited. There are ALWAYS out of the Target Paper towels (among other things); it's really annoying because you can't find half of the things you normally get at Target because it's out of stock or they don't care it. Ugh so disappointing! The only Target West of the 405 so undoubtedly I was super excited about their opening since I live in Brentwood. Stopped by last night on my way home from work with a list of a few simple items. The great thing is that they do have garage parking off of Westgate. Score! Since it's a smaller Target (City Target?), I expected it to be just as big as the Westwood UCLA location. Ummm it's like a third of the size! And they were out of almost everything that I needed! I couldn't believe it. Shelves were not stocked like most Targets. There was a super long line at check out with only 1 lane open. Self checkout was way faster! They do have a Starbucks and pharmacy! I gave it 3 stars because of my love for Target but I think I'll wait a while until I go back again. read more

Wow! I never thought I would not enjoy a target. This target is so small and kind of dirty. They do not have a big selection of anything, for example, their card section is probably 1/4th of every other target I've been to. Also, I feel like all their prices are super market up, kind of felt like I was getting ripped off. I like to grocery shop at target, they usually have really good produce, but this one had a lot of rotten produce and was out of stock of some of my favorite foods. :( So disappointed, might have to be the worst target that stands. read more

T is for TINY! I could not believe how small this Target was. If the one in Westwood is considered a "City Target" then what is this one considered? Express Target? If you lived nearby then I can see this location being useful if they carry what you need but the 3 miles I drove.... I will keep driving to Westwood or Culver City.
