This was for my complaint of having shortness of breath at night, getting in the way of me being able to sleep, with concerns to it being related to my pregnancy. She didn't even do a physical on me before coming to this assessment. I kept trying to explain to her that I've never experienced this before and she told me in a condescending manner, "well, what do you think you have then?" Idk??? Why do you think I'm coming here, probably to try and figure that out? She left the room and immediately I heard her out in the hallway telling another provider that I "didn't like that she told me it was my anxiety" and I could hear them laughing. I am absolutely disgusted by the treatment I've received here, for them to not even complete a physical before immediately diagnosing me and then proceeding to talk about me like that with others in the hallway. An EKG was eventually done, but not before I felt like I had to advocate for myself to get checked out. I came to this appointment after a nurse on a nurse line recommended I get checked out due to my symptoms. As someone who works in healthcare, I'm appalled by this behavior. Immediately telling a patient that it's just anxiety without even doing any type of assessment, is something I was at least taught by my instructors and fellow providers, to avoid as it's incredibly dismissive and makes it harder for patients to feel as though they are being effectively listened to and cared for when you're straight out telling them that it's just all in their head. This place is incredibly unprofessional. Look for care elsewhere. For the providers at this place, the walls are a lot thinner than you think.

I am being charged the price of a specialist for a primary care visit…read more Additionally, Optum Monument is charging for all the standard tests for the annual wellness visit, which by law is covered by all ACA-compliant insurance. Repeated calls and appeals have been turned down. While the employees at the front desk agree that I am being billed incorrectly, Optum internal billing denies appeals, provides no reason, and is now threatening collections. This is arbitrary and extremely unethical (illegal?).

Soon after we arrived, my husband developed sciatica which was so painful he wound up in the Emergency Room in the middle of the night. They sent him home with narcotic painkillers which not only did nothing for the pain, but which turned out to be dangerous for him due to a previous intestinal condition. The next morning, I was trying frantically to find a doctor he could see right away and came across some newspaper articles about concierge medicine. I called Flying Horse Medical and we met with them that morning. Dr. Fraser advised my husband to never, ever take narcotic painkillers due to a previous medical issue, and sent him home with a prescription for a steroid "pack" instead which has the patient start with a high dose and then taper off over several days. The relief was IMMEDIATE and we are both so grateful to Dr. Fraser and to Flying Horse. THEN, just a few days later, I happened to notice a firmness just above my hip that didn't seem quite right. I got in the same day to see doctor Fraser, he ordered a Cat Scan, and a very large rare cancerous tumor was discovered.Instead of referring me to an oncologist, he made the contact himself before I even got to his office to review the Cat Scan findings with him. He had already arranged for the top sarcoma surgeon at the University of Colorado Cancer Center to meet with me. This was apparently too specialized a surgery to be performed by anyone in Colorado Springs. Surgery followed about a week later and the tumor was removed and confirmed malignant. SINCE then, my husband developed some severe knee pain. An xray showed this was not a bone-on-bone problem, and Dr. Fraser prescribed an anti-inflammatory which provided IMMEDIATE relief once again. Remember that all of this happened very soon after we arrived in Colorado Springs, where I'd had a terrible time even getting an initial appointment with a new doctor. Our first appointment date was to have been on the VERY DAY I had surgery to remove the cancer from my abdomen. We never met that doctor and never will. This practice, Dr. Fraser and the entire staff are quite literally LIFESAVERS. It is an absolute godsend to know we can get a same-day appointment when we need it. I was on hold a good twenty minutes just to schedule an appointment five weeks away with the family doctor we were going to see. Needless to say, we will not be going anywhere but to Flying Horse for our medical needs. We are beyond grateful to them.

They have 3 employees behind the counter and though it was very busy, it seemed about 90% of their conversation was personal banter. This alone wouldn't have bothered me, but some of the conversations were unprofessional and inappropriate, F bombs and just generally obnoxious conversation. Additionally stories of interactions with other patients could be overheard which were apparently comical to the employee but could be embarrassing for the patients involved.

Well, there is an option-a suppository. My son went 5 days of having this awful virus and she couldn't tell me there are suppositories available. That seems like something ANY nurse would know. Also, I told her my son had a cold before this and I was worried about a sinus infection. She said, "well he does have an infection. He has the flu". She did not look in his ears, throat, nose. There must be some EXTREME communication issues for common conversations.
