Monday our pup lemon wasn't handling her insulin well and had dangerously low blood sugar. We called hoping they would be able to help with advice or anything. We were told they can't squeeze us in because they close soon and the dr wants to leave early ( I get it people have lives outside of work) we called a bunch of other hospitals and were able to get her blood sugar back to an ok level. This afternoon she began plummeting again. I tried for ivermectin 2 hours to get her numbers up including hand feeding, trying different foods/ snacks, honey once she wasn't showing improvement, as well as sugar water which spiked her blood sugar for about 10 minutes and then drastically fell again to under 50 which if anyone has a diabetic dog is not good. I called hoping for help again and was told to come right in. I rushed and was at the light to the rd of the vet when they called saying I had a scheduled time and it was passed that. I explained I wasn't given a time and got there as fast as I could. Then the lady who was pretty rude told me even if they could see me they couldn't hospitalized her ( are you not an animal hospital) I was told that yet again they were booked and the vet wanted to leave early! As someone who works in the vet field I know that if it were me in there situation my morals/ ethics would not turn away a dog in desperate need of help! And especially because oh he just didn't want to stay late. As I'm on the phone trying to figure this out lemons sensor started screaming that she is below readable levels and is in desperate need of help. And I began explaining that I was told to come in, I'm here, and now they are telling me I'm sol and to go somewhere else. Completely unprofessional, unreasonable, unethical. Only bring your pets here if you want bottom barrel treatment and risk their lives and want your time waisted!! Absolutely disgrace to the vet field!!!

Our Kitty Tyler had a mild bacterial infection in his urinary track that took a down turn after his long days nap which gave us the scare of our lives. When he woke up from his nap he almost couldn't walk and acted really rigid and seem very uncomfortable to the point that when we tried to help carry him to the litter box he started hissing at us. At that point it was obvious to us that he was possibly experiencing a blockage. My Husband immediately looked up the hours for Leesville Hospital and called in to see if the doctor could see him and thankfully they were going to be open until 7pm. (They are open till 7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays). We happened to call them just a hour and a half before they were closing the doors, but they were so kind to tell us to bring in our Tyler, even though they knew we couldn't get there for another 45 minutes. At that point we felt so grateful that we could take him in. As we loaded Tyler in his carrier he happened to void himself right then and there. We changed his pee pads and decided to take him in to the hospital anyways. When we got there they immediately took us in to the consultation room, asked us the reason for the urgent visit and within minutes Dr Bailey came in, he examined Tyler and confirmed that even thought his UTI infection was mild there was a slight chance that the white/red blood cells could have temporarily caused the blockage. He said he was glad that Tyler happened to void himself, and that in itself was a relief. To keep the blockage from happening again Dr Bailey suggested they give him a shot of antibiotics along with a shot that contained an anti inflammatory. Lastly he recommended giving him some fluids to rehydrate him and clear out any remaining bacteria. We agreed. The next day Tyler was back to normal. We also got a call from Leesville Animal Hospital to check in on Tyler and make sure he was doing better. Which he was. We were so thankful that Dr Bailey was available to see our little boy!! Truly a God sent!! He was so very kind and caring! He explained to us everything in detail and was so patient with us even though it was almost time for them to close doors. Our hearts are full with gratitude! My Husband and I thank them from the bottom of our hearts.!! They are a team of ANGELS!! God Bless Dr Bailey and his team always!!! Brant and Pinky Thompson.

My nearly 13 year old kitty had been getting sick for several days and had stopped eating. I had…read moretried a kitty laxative from the pet store, but I was having problems getting her to take it and she wasn't getting any better. Friday night, I decided that I needed to take her in to see a vet and was looking for a local vet. I saw that West Hills has walk-in service on Saturdays. I called the next morning to make sure that walk-ins were accepted and then brought my kitty in. The lobby was very clean and the person at the front desk was very polite and friendly. We only had to wait about 5 minutes or so before being escorted into a room. The room was also very clean. Having worked as a vet tech, kennel staff and later at a humane society, I am very picky about cleanliness of rooms, because of the illnesses that may be transmitted. The vet tech came in and took a brief look at my kitty and then said the vet would be in shortly. A few minutes later, Dr. Heather Beveridge, DV came in and did an exam. She was very gentle and checked her over thoroughly. She explained her findings and then said she was going to give us some anti-nausea pills and a liquid laxative. She didn't push a bunch of testing (x-rays, bloodwork, etc), but let us know that if my kitty didn't improve that some may be needed. She even went over the cost for testing when we asked. I've been at several veterinarians over the decades and a lot of them push testing that isn't necessary at the time and might not be able to afford (though if you can afford it, it may give insight to any other issues that may not be detected by an exam). I was very impressed at how thorough the veterinarian was and how she explained everything. I felt very at ease with her and that my kitty was in good hands. Thankfully, my kitty started eating again by Sunday night and on Monday night was back to her normal self. I'm very thankful to have found a local vet that I feel comfortable with, has reasonable prices, doesn't push for unnecessary testing and accepts walk-ins.

And when you get there you know you've made the right decision to bring your animal to someone you really trust.
