In fact, I am really glad I got them because they are now my favorite tacos, at least made at that food truck. Were absolutely huge and packed with meat. The shells were done expertly with a perfect crispness from the melted cheese on the outside! The dip was a hit. Even though they gave more than enough, it was so dang good i felt like I couldn't get enough. I also got the taquitos. They were large, full of meat, and crunchy and crispy. But there was just something about those burria tacos that will definitely keep me going back. Admittedly the price is a bit steep. So I am I won't go back often, but I will do my best to patronize them as much as I can.

I even like the bean baja tacos with the cabbage instead of lettuce. And when I'm feeling like I need to ear more healthy, they have a really good salad that has chicken, corn, beans, nuts, and a cabbage mix. I must have salsa more of like a pico de gallo. They have a hot sauce that is free and I like it when I eat their tater, tots or their crispy burritos, but otherwise not what I order. I also like their salsa verde as well. Generally, the drive up window service is excellent. Usually I am met with a smile and a good attitude by most of the servers. There's a Mexican food truck nearby which I also love. So it's interesting which I decide to go to when I'm in the mood for mexican food. I often choose the Americanized Taco Time over the more authentic food truck option about half of the time. That actually says something for the quality of the food at Taco Time. One occasional minor irritation is that at lunch time there's often a long line to the drive through. But I can't be mad about that because it moves fairly quickly and the food is good, hot and fresh. And, the service is top notch!

They seem to have some pretty healthy business - when I visited on a Wednesday for lunch, there was a steady line of customers, with more people getting takeout than eating there given the cramped conditions. My food took about ten minutes to arrive. Balcon Burrito ($19.78) - This is a huge burrito, one of the largest I've seen since leaving the Bay Area. It's not quite Mission-sized but is definitely approaching that type of massiveness. The burrito is rolled reasonably well, although there's still some give and some of the curtido liquid leaks out of the ends. What's so special about this burrito? It's Salvadoran fusion, with curtido and a whole pupusa stuffed inside a tortilla! There's of course tender and flavorful beans and rice and some good quality grilled carne asada as well. The meat, in particular, is tender and completely trimmed of all fatty and gristly parts. It's a great preparation. The pupusa adds tons of sweet masa flavor. It's stuffed to the brim with cheese, including some that oozes out and griddles to create excellent caramelized portions. The crunchy curtido inside adds some crunch and some sweetness and acidity that just works so well with the rest of the ingredients. While they offer salsa on the side, it's not needed at all in this burrito; there's plenty of moisture and flavor. It's an interesting and inventive burrito, and is really delicious. (5/5) El Balcon certainly serves some delicious burritos! While on the expensive side, the portion size is easily large enough for two people. I can't say I go to Bremerton all that often, but next time I visit, I'd love to give some of El Balcon's other food a try! Here is the long one: Walking down the passageway between the buildings on this charming stretch of Front Street in Poulsbo, WA leads you to the entrance. If you prefer to dine outside, there is patio seating before you walk through the door. Whether you eat inside or outside, the decor and location feel like you've just walked through a portal to somewhere else: the street traffic just kind of disappears, and you find yourself in a cozy Mexican hideaway. On each of our visits, we've been quickly greeted by a friendly member of the staff or even the owner. (At least, we think she's the owner. We do know that several of the recipes are those of her family.) If she doesn't greet us when we first arrive, we know she'll be around at some point to talk with us. She never seems too busy running the restaurant to check in and make sure we're happy with the food and the service. We always feel appreciated and taken care of, both by the owner and the staff. As for the food, let me first say that my husband and I are originally from San Diego. For most of us who are born and raised there, you just take the abundance of good -- and diverse -- Mexican food for granted. Don't get me wrong, it's not all good, but you can just avoid the bad ones. My rule since early adulthood (based on experience) has been "Don't eat Mexican food north of L.A." This has changed a bit over the years, but I was pretty concerned about what I was going to find when we relocated to the PNW. Broadly speaking, we have been pleasantly surprised. And speaking specifically about Casa Luna, we have been not only surprised but impressed by a couple of menu items that were actually unlike anything we'd ever had before. In particular, the refried beans are amazing. This might seem like a small thing, but pinto beans are a staple of any Mexican restaurant that purports to be something other than a taco shop. It's one of the things we pay attention to in order to assess the attention to detail and care taken in ingredients and preparation. The beans at Casa Luna are delicious and have a special ingredient that I have literally never had in any other pinto beans my entire life living in San Diego and eating Mexican food as often as I can. (The ingredient? It's simple but really makes a difference. I will let you figure it out...) If you accept that the beans are a bellwether of the rest of the menu, then you might assume that there are some other special items on there, and you wouldn't be wrong. We have not had every single thing (yet), but everything we've eaten there has been good to great. Because I've waited too long to remember everything we've ever had, here are some of the highlights: the chile relleno (a personal favorite); quesabirria tacos; chimichanga; salsa (of course! with chips, naturally); house margaritas; rice and beans; flan; fried ice cream. Not one thing disappointed. (If you don't see this as high praise, please refer back to my life story. Just saying.) Bottom line is that if you're looking for a getaway to Mexico for a pleasant night out, friendly service, a delicious plate of food, and a solid house margie but don't want to be gone long or get on a plane, I highly recommend making a visit to Casa Luna.
