They scanned his card using apple pay and made purchases that are supply related to their restaurant. Disappointing. I have a fondness for Mexican food trucks because I just love how cheap, convenient and delicious they can be. Not this one. I tried the steak, tongue and spicy pork tacos and found them all to be pretty bland and flavorless. Asides from the texture and the look of them, you couldn't really tell which one was what. This place was decent. They cook the meat fine. It's flavorful but it's average. Had one slice of lime for three tacos which does not make me happy. I'm a condiments junkie. Carrots weren't fully pickled nor were they spicy. Roasted serrano pepper didn't have any flavor. Red sauce was pretty good. I grew up eating taco truck food from Cali, so my standards are high. Would I still go there? Maybe, if I'm dying for some street tacos. But if I have time, I rather drive down Nolensville and hit up the rest of the other taco places until I find the holy grail. read more

Located next to Super Mercado. This food truck provides the best Mexican food in greater Nashville area. When I moved here from soCal 3 years ago, I constantly craved quality Mexican food that was plentiful back home. My two Mexican classmates (one from East LA and other from Fullerton) and I spent so much time and money looking for decent Mexican food in Nashville. After 6-8 months, we gave up on actual restaurant establishments throughout Nashville. They all catered to non-Hispanic clientele, substituted quality by slabbing beans and/or cheese, or were regularly devoid of customers overall (for good reason). Instead, the three of us tried EVERY Mexican food truck that we came across over the last three years. We were very religious about this. If one of us spot a Mexican food truck, we'd take note of the intersection and made sure we'd try it before the end of the week. I've eaten well over a dozen or two Mexican food trucks in Nashville over the years. One truck(s) came out consistently on top: Taqueria Express. I have two soCal Mexican friends to back that up (one of them surprisingly cooks very well). Even if several of these trucks populate the same block or two on Charlotte, Taqueria Express always had considerably more Hispanic customers. Even while waiting for my order, at least two or three cars would drive up, park, and place orders. This does not happen at other Mexican food trucks and I don't blame them: they're not as good as Taqueria Express. I'll be honest in stating that I've been disappointed by the rave reviews that a number of Mexican restaurant establishments have received on Yelp. That's why when it comes to ethnic foods in Nashville, I trust the crowding of ethnic customers more so than high scores on Yelp (ie Seoul Garden). Taqueria Express is another great example. Don't get me wrong, a few other Mexican food trucks will provide an item or two that will top Taqueria Express. Some tacos will be better found elsewhere, depending on your personal preference on the ratio and balance of various ingredients. But as a whole, the meats are more flavorful, more juicy, and remind me of the food I've eaten within 1 hour from the Mexican border. My personal favorite meats at Taqueria Express, in this exact order: 1 pollo (chicken), 2 pastor (spicy pork), and 3 beef (carne asada). I personally like the quesadillas, mulitas, sopes, and burritos. This is where my confusion lies. There are a small number of food trucks in Nashville called "Taqueria Express". With my limited Spanish (and their limited English), the employees have stated that these "Taqueria Express" trucks are from the same company. I'm not sure if they're all owned by one person who licenses out these trucks, if they're distributed as a franchise, or are jointly operated by the Mexican Mafia. If you look at the city licenses taped on each of these trucks, they're all registered with a slightly different name, address, or person. Yet the menu items are identical, the menu pictures are identical, the prices are similar, and if you ask the people who work there, they say they share the same recipes and ownership. I've asked each truck how many trucks are under the "Taqueria Express" company (my classmates have asked them in Spanish as well). Each truck has given a different number, whether it's 5, 6, 7, or 8, all in the greater Nashville area. My classmates and I have located, pinpointed, and eaten at exactly four of these Taqueria Express trucks. We have searched high and low for the remaining 1, 2, 3, or 4 trucks (your guess is good as mine). I'll post reviews of the three remaining Taqueria Express trucks (that I've found) on Yelp as well... I hope the Yelp gods and goddesses don't mind me copying and pasting since their food items are almost identical. ;-) I'm so happy to post this review--now I can finally check-in at Taqueria Express several times per week. I love the chicken quesadilla. Be warned though: a number of the non-English speaking customers will hand you their odd business cards for who knows what. I've collected a stack of business cards from other Mexican customers over the last 3 years. I have no idea what these businesses do. I don't speak enough Spanish and they don't speak enough English to explain to me what that's all about. I used to like this place until they randomly started overcharging me! Yesterday I bought 12 dollars worth of food and they charged me $17! I showed them the price on the menu for the quesadillas which was $5 and he said no, 6! This is the second time this has happened, I will never go there again. My 40 year search for AUTHENTIC DELICIOUS Mexican food in Tennessee is finally over! We had a family get together last week. Our daughter heard about this truck from a friend. She ordered a few of each item so we could sample the menu in case we wanted to return. The first bite confirmed that my eternal search is FINALLY OVER! Home made tortillas, grilled chicken, vegetables and beef, authentic Mexican rice- all delicious! Not only was the food incredible but we bought a lot of it for less than $45.00! So bummed out. It' usually a great sign when you see 15+ construction workers waiting in line and drinking jarritos while waiting for some tacos from a very homely, non blinged out taco truck.... Sadly I failed this time. I ordered 3 tacos- lingua, carne asada, and carnitas. My tacos were on a very oily and soggy corn tortilla. The toppings were skimpy and there was no flavoring to my meats. As the old saying goes "You don't get a second chance to make a first impression". I see all the rave reviews for this place and my experience couldn't be more different. I ordered up three of the al pastor tacos. The only price I saw was for the tripa tacos a $1.25 each. I'm unsure if all tacos are that price but the dude charged me $4 for my order. What I discovered when I peeled back the foil covering the paper plate were three tacos with some form of meat filling. Dry, tough and yet still somehow laden with huge chunks of fat. I saw another review where the reviewer complained about one lime wedge and I have to agree. Not that it would have helped the miserable tacos I was trying to eat. Even the escabeche was disappointing and that stuff is like idiot-proof. Dunno if the guy working today hates pinche gringos or is just a shitty cook. Maybe both. I won't be going back. read more

Just moved to West Nashville in March, and have only tried a few Mexican joints. This food truck makes the best tacos I've had in years. AUTHENTIC and the seasoning is amazing. The green verde sauce and carrot/radish garnish were a nice touch to help take an edge off of the heat. Three tacos for $3 and restaurant quality. Only had to wait a few minutes, too. Try the mulitas, they're awesome!! We had the asada, carnitas, and pollo and all were good, the asada was my favorite. (Mulitas are like mini quesadillas - 2 corn tortillas with cheese, meat, grilled onions and lettuce in between, grilled til it all melts together. Yum.) The salsas that came with them were spicy and fresh. I loved the big fresh pickled carrots and thick grilled onion slices. The corn tortillas were freshly made and tasty. The white cheese they use is perfect, especially the crispy parts that got a little burned on the grill... I will be hitting this truck up again for sure. It's next to a super mercado now and I think the full name on the truck is taqueria la mulita express #2. Cheap prices ($2 mulita $1.25 taco) and well seasoned food that definitely exceeded my expectations. read more

My favorite taco truck. Delicious el paisa style tacos. Yeah you'll have an advantage if you can speak a little Spanish but it's fine if you don't. Just order a bunch of tacos and make your mouth happy as hell. It's not a rough neighborhood it's just not super affluent. No one is going to stab you, you're probably not even on their radar.
