The food served, the drinks from the bartenders, and the overall classy and timeless feeling the Austin Club gave made for a beautiful reception full of joy. Everything tasted fabulous. Others had stuffed chicken or sea bass. I got to try the sea bass; it was delicious as well. Props to our waiter George! Top notch. Each dish had a fresh orchid on it, which I collected most of to take home. I snuck away from the dinner party to look around. Now, what I discovered. The blue ceiling mural has a face of one of the local opera singers back in the day; Priscilla. I love Austin Social Sports Club! I have done the flag football here for about four years and…read moredefinitely like it here the best. With this league you have to wait until five seconds pass until you can rush the quarterback, which actually allows receivers to run downfield and to let the plays develop. Every third play is a gender play, which means both guys and ladies get involved in making the catches. The refs here also do a really good job, so shout out to Austin for making it happen with good calls on the field. It is a bit of a drive out to Del Valle, but the fields there are really nice and it's just a good vibe/environment. My fiancé & I have done several seasons of cornhole at Bouldin Acres, and have had a great time in that league too. We have also done their kickball league in the past which is also fun, and the 4s Sand Volleyball at Moontower is also a blast! Definitely recommend this league and they offer other sports too.

And to make things worse I had a really bad experience when I couldn't find my shirt. They wouldn't let me play and didn't offer any alternatives like buying another shirt on site so we had to forfeit the game which really sucked. I understand wearing the shirt is a rule but you have to have a way to work around issues that come up. And honestly it's pretty ridiculous that they only give you one shirt that you have to wear every week.

The venue itself has a lively, open feel with an urban backyard vibe and plenty of space to move around, mingle, and actually take in the installation without feeling crowded. What stood out most was how well the space complemented the event. The layout made it easy to engage with the installation while still enjoying the social vibe. They had space for working virtually as well as displays to test some of the technology. There's a nice balance between indoor comfort and that signature rooftop-style setting, which gives it a relaxed but elevated feel. The staff was friendly and kept things running smoothly, and the overall setup felt thoughtfully organized. Whether you were there to focus on the installation or just take it in casually, the environment supported both. The line was somewhat long to get into the event as it was at capacity and could only allow more people as people were leaving the event. I was given a drink ticket and got to try the Patio Pounder with ilegal mezcal, primo aperitivo, tropical citrus, coconut, grapefruit soda. The bartender was efficient even though the lines were long. The cocktail was enjoyable with the balance of smoky and citrus flavors. They also had a variety of food bites available including chips and queso. creamy street corn, and sliders. The food was gone relatively quickly due to the crowds but it would be replenished periodically. Overall, Upstairs at Caroline proved to be a solid venue for a creative SXSW event versatile, welcoming, and very on-brand for Austin's arts and tech scene.
