Located on the mezzanine floor of City of Dreams, Ding Xian Taipei 101 is a concept from what used to be the tallest building in the world. Serving local Taiwanese food with international techniques, it literally shot up from being a corner noodle house to what it is today. It's really famous in Taiwan and this is the only branch in Manila. It's got some interesting things on the menu that are worth checking out.
Let's get it out of the way - Ding Xian Taipei 101 is EXTREMELY expensive. Like, ridiculous. Someone messed up the foreign exchange rate when they were doing the menu. Abalone is going to cost you, but maybe not 14k for a single dish. I mean, that would probably be the equivalent if you had it abroad, but ain't nobody got time for that here. (Well, I can't speak for the gamers. Maybe I'm wrong.)
But the food is good. Fresh seafood, some rare, prepared with care and expertise. Some really innovative ideas, too, because of all the Asian ingredients they mix with cheese in their menu. In particular, I'm thinking of a crab dish with cheese that if you saw would look really European, but when you sink your fork in and dig out what's inside, the flavors are Chinese! It's delicious so check it out. read more
