I searched for acupuncturist online and landed on Dr Tao bc of reviews. I had been experiencing constant miserable hip pain for the past few weeks. Yesterday I went to Dr Tao and he spent an hour and a half with me. He told me it could take more than one session, but I should feel better after the first. He performed acupuncture, electrical stimulation and cupping over an hour and a half visit. He placed a patch on my lower back to leave 24 hours and I did also buy Chinese herb pills he recommended. I had the best sleep of my life last night and my hip has pain is gone today. Can't recommend enough and super thankful to Dr Tao read more

Richard Tao is a caring and amazing practitioner. I came to try acupuncture to avoid having rhizotomy surgery again. I was having pain from my neck and shoulder all the way down to my hand. Like sciatica but arm not leg. When I got in my car after my first appointment I already felt better. I had no idea how much the pain was affecting my attitude until that moment. I not only felt better physically but emotionally too due to the pain reduction. A few more visits twice a week and I was better than after the rhizotomies. Highly recommended. read more

Doctor is good but money is not cleared, normally only my wife came for her acupuncture, but one day, I was off then I drove her to appointment, and I came to pay the copay for that day but now they said we did not pay copay but that money was used buy herbs and patches. she did not patches or herbs on that day. read more

We found Dr. Tao by a fortuitous opportunity. We are no strangers to acupuncture. After doing Google search for local acupuncture since relocation, and a few calls, we found most offices' doctor are their own receptionist or some simply never return the calls. After another Google search which somehow led us to a Nextdoor link, we saw local neighbors recommending Dr. Tao. We cannot be happier. The receptionist answered the phone straight away and was able to take us in the same afternoon. Dr. Tao not only asked thorough questions, felt the pulse the traditional way, but also he explained how the body system work in down to earth languages. After the acupuncture needles were put in to loosen the muscle initially, we know we found the RIGHT doctor. He is so knowledgable, and has over 40 years of experience. After the first session, the sciatic and lower back pain has lessened by 50~60%. Mind you it was challenging at first to even walk into Dr. Tao's office. We are so happy and very grateful that we have found Dr. Tao. Thank you so much. read more

I really apreciate his expertise, and professionalism. My seasonal allergies were horrible with very painful sinus presssure. His treatment helped immediatly, and the herbs continue to help. I found the pricing on the herbs was very affordable. I feel asleep during the treatment, and left refreshed. I got my wife to start going as well. She is also very thankful for the improvement she experienced. If you have not tried this before, it is very safe, and not painful. read more

Dr. Tao is the best acupuncturist I know. He is also a Medical Doctor in China and you will not find someone who knows more than he does. To the person who wrote a review on his insurance billing. It is people like you that make medical providers want to quit. How dare you complain about something you know nothing about? When you bill insurance you have to bill codes. Acupuncture is 97810, 97811 infrared heat is 97026 Every procedure has a code. That is how it works. The evaluation can be separate if it is over five minutes. Even after breaking it down to all these stupid codes you get less than $80 and you have to pay someone to bill for you, and you wait for months to get paid. Then the insurance company can take the money back from you a year later when they decide they should not have paid you. It is a scam. Many medical doctors are opting out of billing insurance, because it is such a nightmare and they regularly refuse to pay you on a whim and wait to see if you want to spend a bunch of time trying to get paid for the work you did. Dr. Tao works very hard to help people and he certainly deserves better than someone complaining that he billed their insurance using the codes he was supposed to use. I'm sure your medical doctor made twice that and was unable to help you. I bet you also did not complain about his/her billing. And for the person who complained he put a needle in her chest. It is a medical treatment. Yes, he should have asked you if it was OK, but he is Chinese and they are not so modest. They expect to have needles put in where they need to be. Dr. Tao has a funny sense of humor and you need to understand cultural differences. read more

Dr Tao is absolutely amazing. I've had Bell's palsy for ten months now and I'm almost completely back to normal because of his acupuncture and herbs. He's very knowledgeable, honest and extremely patient. read more

I have been going to Dr.Tao since 2011 and had a baby in 2015. I did receive an epidural during my delivery and begin to experience lower back pain along with my existing upper back and neck pain issues. I went to Dr.Tao and informed him, he is always able to help me feel so much better and the pain becomes bearable. I tell all my coworkers, family, and friends about Dr.Tao and the miracle he is able to do for me. I am currently seeing him on a weekly basis and then will move myself to maintenance treatments once I feel "healed." Every session, he places the needles on the knotted/painful tissue/muscle, applies heat, and electrodes (feels kinda annoying, but you can feel that it's waking up the muscles). Then he places cupping therapy on the entire back to help relieve some muscle tension (love this therapy). Recently, I had hurt my knee somehow (and I am fairly young), he placed 3 needles in my soft tissue and I must say, it's still hurting, but the pain has lightened up (it doesn't help that I live on my feet, by working 12 hour days). You have to try this doctor before submitting yourself to steroids and other invasive surgeries. He knows what he's doing!!!! Thank you Dr.Tao. read more

Dr. Tao is really outstanding. Three years ago he treated me for Sciatic nerve pain in my hip that was keeping me up much of the night. The first treatment got me about 70% improvement. The second treatment 3 days later got me literally pain free. At that time he advised me to come for two more treatments to get maximum relief and longevity (which I did not do.) A week later my wife went to Dr. Tao for tennis elbow and a chronic pain sensitive spot on her knee that had bothered her for 10 years. Her pain spot was cured that first treatment, and her tennis elbow in 4 treatments. We have both been pain free for the following 3 years. Two weeks ago I began to experience Sciatic nerve pain in my hip again. Back to Dr. Tao. About 60%-70% pain relief after the first treatment and now 100% pain relief after two more treatments. It's almost like magic. During today's treatment, I mentioned that my right shoulder joint had beeen aching.... no problem. He used a few more needles in my neck during the treatment and now i have no shoulder pain either. One of my friends asked me how much the needles "hurt". The fact is that they don't hurt. They are special, very, very thin needles and you don't feel them at all. I'm a believer in acupuncture and in Dr. Tao. read more

Dr. Tao is excellent and I recommend him to everyone dealing with all sorts of issues! I went to him for ADHD and anxiety (both officially diagnosed), and I am a whole new person now!!! Can't even believe it. These are issues that I've struggled with my ENTIRE LIFE and now I FINALLY found something that WORKS. Dr. Tao is not pushy - he is calm, comforting, and honest. I became "balanced" after 5 sessions, but now only need to go back as needed. In a good way, acupuncture is VERY different from "Western medicine." Dr. Tao is not just out there to get your money, as I've experienced so many times with other doctors, and he is trained in acupuncture in China (so he's legit!!). It feels amazing to be healed NATURALLY and not feel like I have to be dependent on chemicals to "get along" in life. I am no longer on meds (!!!) and am finally living my life as MYSELF! :) THANK YOU, DR. TAO!! read more

I have never done acupuncture before. I decided to see if Dr. Tao would be able to help me with pain, and tension related to Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Clinical Depression. The treatment provided worked surprisingly well, and I am looking forward to making a return visit. I have tried everything else from anti-anxiety drugs to supplements, exercise, therapy, massage, and all things in-between. I can now certainly say that the missing piece of the puzzle has been acupuncture therapy! I'm still blown away by the fact that it actually works! I was skeptical to say the least. $95 well spent in my opinion! I'll be adding this treatment to my massage and exercise routines as well! Ancient Chinese Magic! read more

I came to see Dr.Tao for a really bad migraine. He was very cordial and funny and informative. He was very respectful. I started with a consult and then went to the exam room. I had the acupuncture done with cupping done too. I walked out feeling 1000x better! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone even interested in seeing an acupuncturist! read more

Dr. Tao is an excellent doctor. He first reviewed my medical history and spoke to me with sincere concern. I came to Dr. Tao with chronic pain syndrome. My shoulders, joints and back hurt so bad I have to take Norco 10 for them. I have had chronic pain for the last eight years of my life since I was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis and severe Arthritis and Osteoporosis. I started visiting Dr. Tao about five weeks ago and I am now taking much less pain meds. The aches and pains I usually feel everyday are almost gone! I have gotten a lot better. Dr Tao has helped my daughter feel better and have a positive outlook on life through his acupuncture as well. She is a vibrant & happy young lady since seeing Dr. Tao. I have also had a sinus infection for the last six months and could not breathe well and felt the stuffiness, stopped up ears and pressure in my head and face. Dr. Tao has been treating me for this problem for about two weeks and I must say I'm breathing better and the headaches are gone. I recommend Dr. Tao for anyone experiencing any kind of health problems. His bedside manner is impeccable and he is very courteous and caring. His office manager is a jewel as well. This is the place to go if you're looking for an excellent acupuncturist with world class customer service. read more

This review is more to inform people of the billing process at Tao's Clinic rather than the actual acupuncture treatment. I found out about Dr Tao as he is listed as "in network" with BCBS insurance. I was dealing with plantar fasciitis, and Dr Tao said he could help me. I went in for a few treatments and I did have some improvement, but I was working with a physical therapist and doing home therapy as well, so I do not know what actually was helping me get better. Dr Tao charged me $80/visit, and he said that he would input claims to insurance and said that he would not charge me more if insurance did not cover the entire claim. When I received the explanation of benefits, the breakdown of the claim caught me by surprise. Here is how it was broken down: 1. Medical Visits 2. Acupuncture Treatment 3. Acupuncture Treatment 4. Physio/Mech Therapy I contacted my BCBS about the breakdown and why two of the claims were not covered. The explanation that I received was that Dr Tao is not certified for "Medical Visits" or "Physio Therapy". I then contacted Dr Tao about the breakdown, and this is what he had to say: The 'Medical Visits' claim was for "check up and analysis your physical conditions and explanations to your conditions". He did take my blood pressure each time and ask me how I was feeling, but I thought this was all part of "Acupuncture Treatment". As for why there were two billings for 'Acupuncture Treatment', he explained that "one session is initial 15 minutes acupuncture treatment and another session is 15 minutes additional acupuncture treatment" ($40 claim each, and all in the same visit by the way). I was unclear what 'Physio/Mech Therapy' was, so when I asked Dr Tao, he explained that this was "I used the heat lamp (TDP Lamp) treatment more than 30 minutes on you". Dr Tao's clinic may be beneficial to anyone reading this review. He obviously has helped a number of people here on Yelp. I just wanted to let people be aware that even though he is in network at some insurance companies, not all of what he will charge you is covered. I should have checked what Dr Tao what the claims would be that he would submit, and then contacted my insurance before I proceeded with treatment. I should note that Dr Tao did not ask for more payments to cover the 2 claims that were not covered. Regardless though, these two claims went towards the entire bill at BCBS. So according to BCBS I still owed payments, and the amount that was covered was sent to Dr Tao. Dr Tao did write that "we also submit your claim to Insurance as you request since you believed that insurance will cover for that. You were right that insurance did pay your acupuncture treatment. We will refund portion that you paid once insurance payment done." read more

After having a miscarriage and being told that I would not conceive without surgery, I researched and started going to Dr. Tao. Dr. Tao didn't make any promises, but felt very optimistic that I could and would conceive in spite of what my OBGYN at the time and other doctors told me. He asked me to do everything he asked of me for the next 3 to 6 months and that we would discontinue treatment if there was no improvement. I had been bleeding for 10 weeks already when I came to Dr. Tao for treatment. My bleeding stopped after 2 days of herbs and acupuncture (which is painless and VERY relaxing). Over the course of 3 months, I was treated 1-2 times a week with acupuncture and herbs that not only eliminated my bleeding, but improved my energy and sleep. Even more impressive is that I found out that I was pregnant almost a month after Dr. Tao gave my husband and I the okay to start trying to conceive again. I paid him a visit months later at the end of my last trimester of pregnancy and I was happy that he was SO excited to see me and the belly that was a precious baby growing inside of me. He remembered everything about me as if we had never discontinued treatment and he ended our visit by asking for a picture of the baby when she arrived. Dr. Tao is very knowledgeable about medicine and health and I highly recommend that anyone who is tired of traditional meds and doctors, discouraged, or just want another way to treat an illness or condition to consult him FIRST. He KNOWS what he is doing and has made me and my husband VERY confident in his ability. I am extremely grateful. He is one of the most knowledgeable, caring and professional doctors that I know. read more

I have been going to Dr Tao for a little over one week to treat Bells Palsy which I contracted after an ear infection. My progress has been amazing. I went to the Ear Nose and Throat Dr yesterday and he was truly amazed with the improvement in only 10 days, and 4 treatments, time. He said he can't scientifically prove that acupuncture works, but to keep doing what I've been doing because the progress is almost unbelievable. Thank you Dr. Tao. read more

I have been pain free just in two months. My health has substantially improved and i feel better.

My TCM practitioner moved to Colorado recently, and recommended me to see Dr. Tao. Dr. Tao has helped me with my anxiety disorder, neck, shoulder pain and IBS for the past two weeks. He's a caring doctor who listens and adjusts his treatment as needed. My symptoms have improved with several sessions along with Chinese herbs he prescribed. If you have suffered from any chronic symptoms that Western Medicine couldn't help, try call Dr. Tao. Dr. Tao really knows his stuff and is excellent in what he does. My husband and I were treated for neck, back and shoulder pains. The relief was instant. I am able to have full range motion of my neck pain free after only several treatments. I have had the neck problem due to car accident and sedentary work in front of monitors whole day. Dr Tao has Saturday office time which is convenient for us. His staff is also friendly and efficient working with insurance company for billing. We highly recommend Dr. Tao. read more

A friend told me about Dr. Tao. She was unable to get pregnant and in less than 2 months she was pregnant!! Her mother went to him for migraines and cured her. It's been almost 6 months since I've been going to Dr. Tao for TMJ pain and hair thinning. I no longer wear a mouth guard at night. This is so amazing to me!! My hair is definitely growing again too! My moods are so much better. I really haven't felt this good in a long time. I tell everyone I know about Dr. Tao. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Tao for Atrial Fibrillation. Allopathic Medicine does not offer treatment that looks at the roots of this condition and thus the treatment, care and healing potential has been limited from my perspective. The acupuncture and Chinese herbs provided with care by Dr. Tao have helped me immensely by dramatically reducing my symptoms and Afib episodes. The philosophy and metaphysics which underlie the workings of Traditional Chinese Medicine may not be as mysterious, unbelievable, as you may currently think and may be concurrent with your current worldview. Try Dr. Tao and integrate and synthesis what you have tried with his methods. read more

I found Dr Tao online when looking for alternative care from western medicine for my father who was given only a few months to live. We drove over an hour when I took him to his first appointment with nothing but hope to go on. He was on constant oxygen and walked with a cane. After his first treatment he walked out of the clinic without needing his cane or oxygen. I couldn't believe my eyes. Less then 6 months of being under Dr Tao's care he was like a new man. Dr Tao's did what none of all his western Dr's could do and he did it all naturally. That was 6 years ago and my dad is still with us. I know in my heart that Dr Tao saved my dads life. Words cannot begin to express my thanks. read more

I'm so glad I found Dr Tao. He's basically my miracle worker!! I've had a long term medical condition which bothers me on a daily basis and I've tried both Western and Eastern treatments to no avail. Following just 3 treatments of acupuncture in combination with herbal medicine, I can honestly say that I'm 90% cured. I have the occasional flare up but it's tolerable and manageable. I'm so grateful to Dr Tao for his expertise. read more

I had very severe headaches almost daily for months. Pain relievers would help, but I was taking larger and larger doses for relief and was concerned about long term side effects. After a series of treatments, I NO LONGER GET HEADACHES! I haven't had one in months. I still go back for regular treatments to ensure the pain doesn't return, but I am so happy to be off of medication. Not only is my pain gone, but I have increased energy and am better able to focus and concentrate. read more

I tried to quit smoking for over 15 years. I smoked for 22 years. I decided it was time to stop trying with regular MD's (Zyban, the patch, etc) and do something "out of the box" and Dr. Tao's acupuncture ABSOLUTELY works! I've been smoke free for over 7 weeks. If you are addicted to anything, he is the man to go to for help. I see him now for my back pain, which is chronic, but something I do not take meds for. I've always wanted to see if it's getting better or worse, not cover the pain. There are good days and bad days that I've had with my back for years. I would never see a chiropractor again in my life, what a horrible thing! I saw many chiropractors and wound up being diagnosed in my 30's with MS and having "adjustments" was the worse thing I could have been doing for the lesions in my spinal column. Anyway, Dr. Tao ROCKS and is very effective in helping stop smoking!!!! And he has awesome business hours! read more
