The present owners have doggedly maintained the range of products, the unsurpassed quality, and the reputation of the Gort family. We walked in, no one talked to us, I had 3 different samples from the platter and felt like a little kid stealing something. And I wasn't impressed with the cheese. Plus the bathrooms were pretty gross. Super small, needed a face lift and smelly. Plus the light wouldn't stay on. I would rather purchase their cheese from another location if I wanted it.

At the register I noticed some prepared meats, but I only recognized the "Pepperoni" sticks so I also picked a small package along with my cheese. I was developing a plan...cheese, some pepperoni, maybe a glass of wine...in my hotel...why not, eh? As I sat down in my hotel at the Kelowna Airport, cut up some of the cheese, opened the package of pepperoni...ummm, the cheese was fantastic, but wait...my mouth and throat are burning...what the devil is this? I tried to eat the pepperoni thinking that maybe it was the smoked cheese, but wait...reading the pepperoni package, apparently I missed the "Big red type" stating "FIRE HOT"...holy smokes. Let me say, the smoked cheese was yummy, very tasty. However, my error with choices for the pepperoni were a problem for me. It was so spicy hot that I just couldn't eat it. I'll read the package a little better next time.

Beef jerky, smoked salmon, dressings, coffee and treats are among the sold foods. A whole variety of souvenirs are sold as well. Part of the Log Barn is the animal farm, which include horses, chickens and roosters, goats and alpacas. The store sells goat feed, which you can give to the goats - and alpacas!! We enjoy feeding goats, which are very sociable and funny animals. Service was very good, and the ambiance a bit unusual but very interesting. It was very amusing to visit this attraction, store and animals. Definitely a place to return when I return in the area!!

Unless you hate cheese, which is kind of unbelievable to me, but even if you do because you fell into a big pot of melted cheese when you were young, almost drowned, and now get shivers every time you smell cheese, you should still make a stop here. This farm is owned by a family from Holland, who came to Canada without knowing anything about farming, worked many years on different farms in order to learn everything they need to know, and now they have their own farm and produce wonderful cheese. Besides the usual Gouda they have lots of other flavors, some very interesting ones. We picked up a huge piece of chili cheese (which was spicier than most other chili cheeses but not tongue numbing hot) and payed only a few dollars. And we brought back some good, homemade mustard. Again, make a stop at this place, try various cheeses, check out the other Dutch things they have in their little store, and bring home LOTS of cheese, like a whole wheel. I'm pretty sure you don't get a better deal for cheese that good anywhere else in Canada!
