As one time I was there and one of mu glass bottles were no good and he just tossed it in the trash. I asked why and he just said "no good", (guy was forign so his english wasn't very good) but non the less I was a little irratated, but I carried on and accepted my return and carried on. The hours are great, and not open on Sunday, but that's fine. But as for speed, they are in between slow and steady, they move at the "Dockyard Shuffle" pace which is irratating, but what can you do. As for them helping you carry the heavy stuff out of the car. Its almost hard, you are standing there like a fool and just waiting.

If you're sick of the bums ripping open your…read moreclear blue bags and taking all your bottles the night before pick up or that random van that drives around and steals the whole bag in the 30secs you were in the house getting the rest of the trash, you can always bring the bottles that require a deposit to this 'Enviro Depot' where they'll refund you half your deposit. A full bag is usually a couple bucks worth of stuff. This is the closest one to the downtown and is probably more useful for SMU students than carless Dal students. The other option is to sort your recycling so the bums can just take the whole bag and then there's no curbside mess to deal with. If you choose to sort and store, be sure to rinse well and keep the bag tight or you can expect a fruit fly explosion.

This is the closest depot from my home, so it's often the spot we use to to cash in on our…read morepost-party empties. It's on a huge lot, so there's no worry about finding a spot to park. The guys are pretty friendly, compared to some other places, and pretty quick. It does its job, it's open 7 days a week compared to other recycling depots that are closed on Sundays, and they're quick at sorting through your "I swear I'm not an alcoholic" haul. What doesn't give this four stars is that they no longer offer electronics disposal. The volume of electronics being dropped off for safe disposal wasn't enough to warrant the service, so if you're looking to safely unload that old tube TV or ancient computer, you'll have to go somewhere else.

It really depends the direction from which you're coming. If you're heading up Woodlawn from Portland, it's on the far side of a building, in an upper parking lot. It'd be easy to miss. Once I arrived, it was fairly straightforward. They have a ton of parking spaces. I backed up my car to the door (it wasn't busy so that made it easier). I hopped out and waited maybe 20 seconds before someone who works there greeted me. I explained why I was there, he helped me, I left. Also: their Web site (while maybe a little outdated) is useful! Not that I even expected a recycling place to have a Web site, but they do.
