I have walked past this place so many times and have somehow never eaten here......maybe because I am mainly carb-afobic (is that even a real thing) but the other day having done body pump at 7AM...yes you heard right...I thought why not have a jacket potato based treat! I went for cheese and beans on my spud and was even asked if I want the cheese or beans on first! Love that. I went cheese on second if you are interested. The potato was light and fluffy and packed FULL of toppings.....to the point where I tried to take a good photo and it just looked like a mass of beans so I left it....you will have to use your imaginations there! If you want a potato in its most perfect form give this place a go! £3.50 for a lunch that is filling, not outrageously unhealthy and served by some super friendly local people :)

The way it works is fairly simple; you ask for what you want in your box (up to two types of curry, two types of filler and chutney). For example, you might want chicken tandoori and lamb rogan josh with rice and naan bread and the sweet chutney. They put it into a box, stratifying the contents (so it goes rice then lamb then naan then chicken then chutney, usually) and you go home and eat it. You can get any one of three sizes for £4 to £6, and there are other combos and options too. As a bonus, if you live out near Evington they've just opened a branch that opens late!

I stood for a while watching them create such amazing Malaysian dishes from fresh ingredients - and when I got my chance to try some I was blown away. The fish dish I had was so tasty and incredibly well cooked considering it's being served from a street stall! It was very spicy but they managed to get the balance of spices just right. I would order this again! I sampled the squid and also the fishcake - and WOW the fishcake was divine. I didn't try the ribs that were brought around, but I did watch other Yelpers tuck into them and they seemed happy so thumbs up for the ribs too! The bubble tea was certainly an experience too! A weird but tasty refreshing juice drink that had small bubbles of juice floating around at the bottom. Occasionally one would fly up your straw and, if you avoid choking on it like I did, they pop and release a different flavour of juice. Very odd - but very good. If I'm in Alty Market again soon I'll be paying them another visit!

The ambience and the aliveness of this innovative business were a pleasure to see. It is cross between a delicatessan and a coffee shop. Meeting briefly with the owner , Nicola and her colleague added further insight into the quality of the business. Although I have not enjoyed a meal there or made a purchase today, it is certainly a place to recommend with confidence and I may well visit before the end of my stay in this fascinating town. Situated primarily in 'office country' the queues at Mr Bens can be a bit smaller than his competitors, which tend to cater for the shoppers too. The thing I like most about these potatoes is the canny pricing. They make it impossible for you not to fill your spud to bursting point. One filling costs £2.30, whereas you only pay 50p more for 2 fillings. *** A city centre potato and 2 fillings for less than a city centre pint! *** There's plenty of fillings to choose from, but make sure you have the chicken curry regardless of your second choice. As taken from their website: "The only toastie whose consumption deems you to be worthy of nothing less that the eternal reverence of your peers. A triple-decker leviathan of bacon, pastrami, ham, chorizo, cheddar, mozzarella, monterey jack, onions, hot sauce and, of course, a 28 day aged 4oz Warwickshire steak." Sounds good right? It IS. You WON'T be hungry after this. They have less mega offerings and deal with locally sourced meats, cheeses and (of course) veggie offerings. If you aren't content with just savoury; they have also offered sweet toasties when I have visited. Think thick slabs of bread with chocolate spread, marshmellows, peanut butter.... You get the idea. Don't worry, my mouth is watering too (this is a really bad review to write when you're on a diet). The guys who run the van are great! On one visit to see the Jabberwocky, we had a natter about why they got started... Basically, to escape the daily grind the guys decided to be their own bosses and bought the truck, designed their menu and now wing their way around Leamington Spa and Birmingham dealing out delicious toasties to the hungry crowds at streetfood events and markets. As a side note, I believe you can also hire them to come and cater for your event... I don't think you would have any disappointed guests with these guys doing the food!
