    Lockout Music Studios

I moved in February 1st, excited to start my journey back to music…read more I knew I was going to miss a couple weeks, and ended up moving in late on February. The first night, I already could tell this was a waste of money. I was sandwiched between two loud producers, one of which a non-black rapper constantly saying the n word in his music. He also said it outside in the hall. (A white man) I am a lifelong musician, loud rehearsal neighbors aren't new to me- but what bothers me is that this studio is not actually a studio. They are office buildings. There is absolutely NO noise isolation and to top that off, the door I had was broken. After 5 min of my walls rumbling from both sides with absolutely no insulation to soften the blow, so loud my head was throbbing - I realized the lockout owners were likely cash grabbers with no passion for sound. Very different from Sac Rehearsal and the other one off El Camino where you at least get SOME LEVEL of isolation and professional attempts at noise reduction. On top of that- I was offered a tour with a measly $100 off my next room selection. When I attempted to reschedule the tour, their only available hours to do so were 10A-2:45P, Mon-Fri, which as you might expect - will not work for 90% of people who can afford rehearsal studios. When I finally was able to schedule a time, they canceled for a family emergency and rebooked for Monday the 24th, leaving me a measly 7 days of a potential rehearsal experience. When I brought this to their attention, they nastily retorted, "well you've had access to the space the whole time!" A space with no noise isolation that is entirely impossible to think in, let alone rehearse in. Save your money- even if you're a mile away like I am, it's better to go to House of Hits. Even Sac Rehearsal. The only benefit of this place is the "safe" location- but it's really built with no regards to musicians and the customer service is built equally as shitty.

Prices are much higher than the competition for smaller spaces. I tried to rent a room for band rehearsal. Toured the place, told them I intended to rent from them. The communication is very disjointed. They only want to communicate via text, but it's not with a single person. I had literally 4 different people writing to me in the same thread. They sent me the contract but seemed unclear on which unit I wanted even with me sending them a video that I took during the tour. The contract stipulates that you're supposed to do a walkthrough so I had to go back to do that before signing (which I assume is to look for damage since you have to pay a security deposit but I also wanted to make sure they were trying to rent me the right room since there was confusion about that in my texts with them) . I told them I wanted the unit but they won't let me give them a deposit until the contract is signed. Since they only let you schedule tours for about 4 hours through the middle of the work day, I had to take time from work to go back again as soon as I was able to find an available tour time. They texted me in the morning telling me to let them know when the tour is done so that we can move forward. I went and did the tour and took photos, texted them 6 minutes later telling them it's finished and that I'd send the contract as soon as I got home. 45 minutes later I sent the contract, assuming everything is set and waited to find out how to pay them, and it's radio silence from all of them on the text thread all of a sudden. Then 4 hours later they tell me they've rented the space to somebody else. So in the end I wasted my time doing multiple tours in the middle of the day and then got screwed out of the space while none of the 4 people I'd been in contact with had the common courtesy to let me know that somebody else also had a contract in hand for the same room and that I might be wasting my time. The only other space of comparable size they had available is a ridiculously laid out triangle shaped room that smells like urine. So that's definitely out. Very poor communication and ultimately a big waste of my time. Also, none of the rooms I saw looked anything like the photos they uploaded here. I saw stained floors, cracked drop ceilings, poorly painted walls, and some not great smells.

Very clean neat and safe place to setup and play your heart out!!…read moreOwners were very accommodating and concerned with all my needs. I am a very busy guy and my schedule need flexibility, I come and go without any hassle and with the security all my gear is safe. "Sounds of Sac" provides me my space to play my drums & music as loud I want, as long as I want....and with a smile! In the 3 years I have been with "Sounds of Sac" never any problems with the owners.

Play Loud 24/7 is their tag line. This is a good thing when Mom kicks you and your band mates out…read moreof the basement at 7:30pm for her 3 martini Jeopardy hour followed by murder she wrote. She also hates your friends for turning you on to Pot, Coke, LSD and teaching you to take the Lords name in vain, What do Mom's know anyway? So my band just moved into this Mecca of creative process. I'm not sure how many rehearsal studios there are but I'm guessing around 100. This place is huge. Some of the best bands in the area rehearse here. It has a Biometric reader on the entry door, that means it reads your fingerprint to unlock, for extra security. The spaces all range in size. The smallest are 12x12. it is open 24/7 and there are many cameras throughout so big brother can see who's messin around. Each space has a lock and dead bolt. There are vending machines and couches in common areas. There are also public restrooms both male and female. They also have a recording studio and graphic art services. What else could you want? Maybe someone to provide a few curbside pharmaceuticals? Well, there are many creative types around, so I'm sure it's not hard to find. I practically got a contact high as walked passed the many MC and DJ smoke a lot of bud studios. They are really laid back. smoking and drinking is aloud on site and from the looks of it they're really gonna leave you alone. Rent runs $300.00 a month for a 12 x 12 with a $149.00 move in special. So tell Mom to piss off, come on down, kick back, drinks some beers, smoke some weed and rock out.
