Stopped by on Friday about 2PM in order to beat the rush. Really enjoyed the Farm Equipment displays just looking at all of the equipment they had to use to clear the fields. The carnival side was not open and that was okay did not want to have to deal with all of those extra people. Many food places to sample many different types of food , we had BBQ Brisket and Chicken. Also sampled a funnel cake towards the end, have to have one of those if you are at a carnival/fair.

Not a professional wine taster by any means, but I have been to several vineyards and know a little about wine. The whites all tasted the same, very minute differences. Non of them pleasing to the palette, they had a very sour aftertaste. Not sure if this years batches were tainted but they were not pleasant. The Reds had a biting aftertaste reminiscent of acetone. I would not purchase a bottle until they have fixed their formulas. **The redeeming factor here is the WINE SLUSHIE. wine, sugar, vodka, freeze. Even though the wine itself was less than desirable, add some vodka and sugar and it was redeemed. Delish.

Last week we made our second visit ever to Rollins Planetarium, located at Young Harris College in…read moreYoung Harris, GA. It's a great place to go for adults and kids alike, though note that it's a late evening activity. According to their site, the planetarium seats 104 under a 40-foot-diameter dome, and if you go, try to get there early to get a seat in the back. You'll be staring up most of the time, and the seats do recline a fair bit. The presentation is about half live, half recorded - but all with the lights down entirely - with the recording about whatever their current public show is about. The live portion is great, and features the night sky as it actually looks that night, in that location. The presenter we had was informative and fun to listen to, and the kids in our party got a kick out of it. The recording was about Saturn, and it was educational and interesting. We skipped the trek up to the observatory after the show, but only because our kids were done for the night. We did visit the observatory our first time to the planetarium, and if you can stay awake, I recommend it! Check their schedule and ticket times, as they generally only offer Friday night shows. We paid cash for our tickets ($3 adults, $2 kids/students), so I don't know if they accept other forms of payment. Parking was easy. Cool, educational, a real gem up in the mountains!
