Tamu Tamu is one of Animal Kingdom's quick service locations which serves mainly ice cream. However, during the breakfast hour, it also serves a few pastries and a hot sandwich. This spot is located just at the start of Africa, when you head over the bridge, its to the right. Chances are there is a line. We usually stop here for the breakfast sandwich if we are there early, but we have had ice cream here as well. For breakfast, they have a really delicious sausage, egg and cheese biscuit sandwich. This is what my husband and I always go for if stopping in the morning. This park does not offer tons of breakfast options so this spot is always busy. They also offer a Danish and then a pistachio croissant. These are both fine, they are good classic pastries. There is a lot of seating behind the location so you can grab something, sit down and enjoy or take it to go. The sandwiches are made and wrapped in foil in a different location and brought over, but these are still really great. It is warm and the cheese is melty, the sausage is great. This is a solid breakfast stop. For snacks they specialize in ice cream including the classic cups of Dole Whip and then our personal favorite, the pineapple crisp sundae. Pineapple Crisp Sundae: Pineapple Crisp Cake, Vanilla Ice Cream, Pineapple Caramel, Crispy Streusel Topping. We actually tried this for the first time, this past year and now we want it all the time. It was fantastic! My husband does not like sweets, but even he ate some mentioning how great it was. The streusel topping was a great addition to the dessert. They also offer some alcoholic offerings, even in the morning. They have a few desserts with rum floaters and a coffee with Amarula Cream Liquer. This quick service walk up stand is a great refreshing spot that can be hard to spot and easy to miss. They have breakfast options including the colossal Mickey cinnamon roll and a breakfast sandwich along with refreshments like dole whip and the dole whip floats. In the morning around 9:30am we got the honey pistachio croissant which was very good, however for some reason I thought it would be filled with pistachio or something. After Kilimanjaro safari at around 1:30, we got a little early afternoon pick me up and got the dole whip to share amongst the three of us. If you notice the dole whip serving in Magic Kingdom, it's actually hollow on the inside which makes it appear to be larger, but here it's not! So refreshing and delicious as always. Is it really a Disney trip if you don't cool down on at least one of your park days with a Dole Whip treat? Tamu Tamu Refreshments is my go to place while in Animal Kingdom. They typically only have the pineapple flavor, but they do have the option to order a 'boozy' version with rum and, at the time of my most recent visit a few weeks ago, they were offering the Pineapple Crisp Sundae. For all my pineapple and fruity dessert lovers, this was divine! It was my first time ordering it, but it definitely won't be my last. I shared it with my husband, although I probably could have easily housed it by myself in that Florida heat and humidity and because it really was that good. The treat is a pineapple cake with pineapple streusel, caramel, and ice cream. The cake was moist and a great texture to complement the rest of the dessert. It wasn't too tart and it wasn't overly sweet. It was perfect. The service was ehh. The girl who rung me up was friendly, but the other CMs handing out the orders were completely disengaged and gossiping the whole time I was waiting for my order. There wasn't even eye contact or response when I thanked them for the order upon pickup. There were about four of us piled up waiting for our orders, so the gossiping was not a good look as the wait times were building up. Dole Whip is a must when visiting Disney! Surprisingly, We didn't see many dole whip shops around the parks so when we saw this one in Animal Kingdom, we had to get it. I can't explain it- the dole whip tastes better in Magic Kingdom for me. BUT you can get it with alcohol here which is pretty fun! It does chance the texture a little bit and obviously the taste too lol. I'd classify it as a medium-high priority snack for an adult Disney trip in Animal Kingdom. I've also tried the Simba Sunset which has some other flavors mixed in. Not my favorite. The extra flavor just wasn't necessary- but it did make a great photo! Maybe there isn't anything that can truly top that insanely good, yet simple pineapple soft and creamy treat. Walking up to Tamu Tamu the honey and I decided to order a couple whips (his with alcohol, mine regular ole child friendly) but the alcohol in his was essentially only at the bottom, and both our treats melted so fast they weren't that enjoyable to eat. I'd love to see these served more frozen, based on the fact that Florida runs like 10 degrees hotter than California, but otherwise the service was friendly. While we likely won't be back to Animal Kingdom, I'd say Tamu Tami is a fairly good stop in the otherwise poor food options at this Disney World park. read more

After getting into the park and beelining it for Flights of Passage to beat the crowd, we had a late breakfast here. The line moved pretty quickly and while my wife made our orders, I found a seat around the corner in a covered alcove. This was a great place to sit in the shade and enjoy it, so get your food and go either around the corner from the line or right down the wall. Either has an entrance into this shady spot. The Pistachio Croissant was ok, I hear. It was not overly sweet and was pretty light and bready. The Mickey Cinnamon Roll was pretty good, though. We stopped in this little pickup line to get some Dole Whip and decided on Simba's Sunset. It's Pineapple Dole Whip with a watermelon, strawberry and coconut flavored syrup on it. Kind of deceiving because I thought it would be three different syrups to choose from but it's al three flavors in one. The Dole Whip here is very light and airy compared the other Pineapple Dole Whips throughout the parks and it melts super quickly. I'm sure that's why they serve it in a bigger cup for the same price. There are other treats available at this window but we didn't try anything else because that was the only plant-based option. I cannot thank these two workers for serving us early in the morning while it absolutely down poured in Animal Kingdom. For breakfast my boyfriend and I shared the 50th anniversary Mickey Cinnamon Roll and the Pineapple Dole Whip. I thought the cinnamon role was so sweet being covered completely in maple syrup and blue frosting. It was the perfect treat in the morning to get your day started! Tamu Tamu is a great place for desserts. The selection is small: ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, waffle sundae, dole whip ice cream and drinks. We tried the chocolate waffle sundae. We were initially confused what it was. Initially I thought it was waffle cone, but it is just what it is a chocolate waffle with ice cream on top. At first bite the waffle is soft and the flavor of the waffle is good. I like that they use real vanilla ice cream instead of soft serve. This snack is great to try almost as good as the beignet sundae I tried at Port Orleans. This is a great place to try if your looking for some good desserts. read more
