Firstly, the clinic has established a walk in system with an electronic card swipe that you can use to check in without any human interaction. This puts you in queue for a shot. I love it because it is extremely convenient. I also love the fact that there is ample parking. No fighting for a spot. There is plenty right in front of the office. Now for the gripes. The schedule changing without notice is a legit complaint. The office decided to close Wed before Thanksgiving (seriously that's when everyone tries to get their chores done right before the holidays). When you are on an allergy shot schedule of 2-14 days and you close the office for 5 consecutive days that is a HUGE problem. As a result of this, I had to backtrack on my shot schedule. The last gripe I have, while it may not be specific to this office is that as someone who is paying for expensive allergy shots, I am expecting a test to determine whether my shots are working or not after a period of time. When I asked how I will know whether my shots are working, I got a subpar response about how I'll probably begin to "feel it". Really? So basically I'll be sold on shots for 3+ years and the gauge of whether this is working is based on how I "feel". I would have expected the office to at least tell me about an interim allergy test in year 1 or 2 to know whether or not I'm tracking in the right direction. My insurance is paying this for now, but if I have to incur any big out of pocket costs, I may have to rethink this going forward. Caveat Emptor.

It's asking for a recipient for the message, but nothing works, including using the doctor's name. So we tried reaching someone at the phone number and after waiting on hold for about 20 minutes, it switched to asking me to leave a voicemail, and then after that message it said the voicemail system is full and it hung up. Same thing on multiple days. They have a message that suggests emailing them, so I did that and there has been no response. What a mess.

I did my research and found my way to Dr. Schultz at GAAI. The building is completely ho-hum and the office is tiny, old and FREEZING, but I'd rather have a doctor whose front office is a little run down and have them pay their staff and doctors well. Dr. Schultz (and his cutie pie scribe) listened to my every question and concern, talked me through all possible scenarios and diagnosis, purpose and dangers of medications, and assured me I was NOT a neurotic mother, just a concerned one who wants my child to have a better quality of life. I got good juju's from Dr. Schultz, not the screaming red flags I did from the past doctor we went to. I also appreciated that he took the time to teach his protege and quiz him; he'll be a better doctor someday for it. I am happy to say I may have found my family allergist for the duration of my stay in Austin, however long that may be. Thank you Dr. S for listening to me and not trying to prove you're a know it all like some docs in the past! UPDATE: After only one full day of the new treatment regimen Dr. Schultz put her on, my little one has gone an entire day and night without coughing. I asked to speak with a manager, and the front desk staff said they would check with Tammy, the Physician Assistant. Unfortunately, Tammy refused to allow the medical assistant to provide me with an allergy shot, despite the minimal delay, causing a disruption to my immunology treatment plan. It's extremely disappointing that I even have to write a one-star review, but it seems this clinic has struggled to maintain a strong reputation in the community, as reflected in their current 2.8 -star rating on Yelp. Sadly, my experience aligns with that. What's most unfortunate is that the front desk staff and medical assistant were very kind and welcoming--clearly trying their best. But the overall management of this clinic needs serious attention. No one feels good about receiving medical care from a place with such a poor service rating. I truly hope this review is taken seriously and that whoever is responsible for managing this location takes a hard look at their customer service standards and goals. Flexibility, empathy, and patient care should be at the core of every medical facility--and right now, this clinic falls short. I encourage others to consider alternative providers and allergy clinics who will treat your time and care with the respect they deserve.

What at first appeared to be just picky eating eventually became a more serious problem. As he got older he continued to refuse most foods and by age 3 only had 5-6 foods in his repertoire. While he was growing normally, he wasn't getting a good balance of the food groups and all meal times were a struggle. We couldn't eat out as a family as there was never anything on a menu he would eat - his diet consisted of fruit, one kind of cheese, yogurt and crackers. After his initial evaluation at Kidworks, the therapist let me know it would be a slow process. After 6 months, he still had not started eating new foods. I was frustrated, especially since we were paying out of pocket for twice weekly appointments. However, something clicked around that 6 month mark and he tried a new kind of bread. This was a huge step! I was finally able to make pb&j's for him. After the bread came some small victories like different cheeses. We've switched therapists twice and I truly believe when one took him as far as they could they recommended another one, and it's worked well for him. In the past year he's added 11 new foods to his diet, including pasta and grilled cheese, and his current therapist is awesome. She's challenging him with "scary" foods like meats and veggies and I'm very hopeful for the future. He's still very far from a "typical" eater but our mealtime battles have been reduced from 3/day to around 3/week, and we also have a handful of restaurants where he's found items he'll eat. I highly recommend Kidworks' feeding program if you have a problem feeder.

My daughter has multiple complex diagnoses, and she has attended therapy at KidWorks for nearly 4 years, 2-5 days a week. I believe that she is walking and talking and enjoying life in part because of our therapists at KidWorks. My son also has multiple diagnoses and has therapy multiple days a week since he was born. He is thriving, again because of the work of our therapists. Also, as bonus, our therapists have been my guides in this unknown world of being a special needs mom. They are the first people who notice something "off" with my kids and they understand the challenges and joys of this type of parenting. We are lifers with KidWorks!

Starting at the front desk, the receptionist couldn't have been any nicer. I've been to this office a couple of times & she has always been very sweet & welcoming. My 1st visit was with Melissa Binney, PA, for a body scan for skin cancers. I'm fair skinned & grew up being out in the sun all of the time, & this was prior to sunblocks. I've already had quite a few basal cells removed, so it's very important for me to have a good body scan every year. My previous dermatologist retired quite a few years ago & I've been trying to find another one that does a good scan ever since. This has not been an easy feat! Melissa was very thorough, even going thru my head of thick hair making sure there wasn't anything on my scalp. I prefer someone that's going to be a little invasive & make sure they see anything & everything than someone that just glances at you. Melissa found a small basal cell cancer on the side of my face. I had never seen it, & probably never would have, so I was grateful for her keen eye. I went in today to have the basal cell removed & met Dr. Ramsdell for the 1st time. I thought he was a very nice doctor. Very professional & skilled, but was personable & friendly, as well. The nurse that prepped me for the surgery was nice & fun to talk with. She explained everything that was going to happen & was skilled with the needle...thank goodness. I never felt anything more than a little bee sting when she numbed the area. When Dr. Ramsdell removed the spot, I never felt anything other than a little tug, . All in all, a great experience. that I had not been looking forward to. I would highly recommend Melissa Binney & Dr. Ramsdell to anyone.

I even called my insurance broker who sent me the United screenshot (attached) This office needs to get it together. My physicians' assistant was great. Too bad the office is a mess and overcharged me $125 for self pay instead of $50 for a copay. I guess I need to find another dermatologist office, sigh! Such a shame because the actual PA is a gem. Just refuse to be overcharged any more when they are actually in network with my insurance. Proceed with caution if you visit here!
