We were heading back to the Missoula airport from Glacier National park and decided to spend two nights in Seely Lake. The Tamaracks Resort was a fabulous choice. We stayed in several of their cabins and enjoyed both places. The cabins are surrounded by beautiful trees (tamaracks, ponderosa pine, lodgepole pine) and the lake. We woke up at sunrise and took the canoe (canoe provided by the resort) to the Clearwater Cove at the upper end of Seely Lake. Gorgeous scenery. read more

We've been going here for years. It's a great location, beautiful cabins, etc. However, the rodent problem needs to be fixed. Mice poop all over the kitchen and in the dishes. The mice problem has gotten much worse in recent years. We even bought a mouse trap ourselves and caught a mouse the first night we bought it. Very overpriced to be sharing a cabin with rodents. We had a bat in our cabin also and no screens on the windows. I get that mice live in the woods but they need to have someone in sight trapping mice and checking traps each day. It's pretty disgusting. Can't even eat in the kitchen. read more

I had a one night stay at the resort last week. Here is my review. PROS: Resort was cute, clean, and reminded me of Summer Camp. Staff members Kayla and Tyler were very friendly and helpful. The Huckleberry cabin was cozy, clean and perfect for my solo trip. CONS: If you take the shuttle to do the Kayak trip, be forewarned that if the weather is shifting/windy, it will be a nightmare getting back to the resort. It started off nice and peaceful; two hours paddling through the Clearwater Canoe Channel. However, when the channel opens up to the lake, the resort is still one mile away, which may not sound far, but when the wind is picking up, and there are waves on the lake so big that they have whitecaps, it is not an enjoyable experience whatsoever. The wind and the waves were coming against me at the end of the channel, and it was a complete struggle to even try to get out to the lake. Once I managed to get out, I was getting pushed back by the wind, and was sure my kayak was going to flip from the whitecap waves; I am not exaggerating! There were other paddle boarders pulled off to the shore because of the same reason. It took me an hour to go one mile, and I paddled as hard as I could the entire time; if I stopped, I would immediately start getting blown backwards. I had pulled off to shore, and called the resort about halfway there, explaining to them how difficult the conditions were, and that a storm was moving in, and I really would like to have a boat or jet ski come tow me back. No one was able to help. Just be forewarned if you have people who are not strong paddlers (kids, older people) this trip will be hell if the weather doesn't cooperate, and in MT, the weather changes every 20min. The description makes it sound like you come out of the Channel, and the resort is just around the corner; this is NOT the case. A staff member even told me that a couple who had rented a boat came back due to the waves and wind....enough said. Also, as predicted, a big storm did arrive around 5pm. All the power was knocked out, and by the time I left at 8:30am, still no power. Luckily I had a cooler with ice, or my food would have gone bad in the fridge. Was not able to make coffee, that was a major bummer. Had to walk around with a headlamp at night. Between the kayak experience, and the power being out pretty much my entire stay, I was hoping I would get some kind of refund, or at least have my kayak trip comped; not the case. Again, Staff was lovely, I just feel there could be better explanations on their website, and that people should get some kind of discount if they go without power for a day or longer; at $200-ish a night, this is a lot of money to basically be "glamping." I would not make the three and half hour drive back to this place, unfortunately. read more

Lots of mice in food and on the sheets of the beds. We talked with owner and he didn't care or help in anyway. We had to find a place that was safe for our food because we were cooking dinner for 50 people. This was a major health concern. Traps throughout the cabin along with mice poop on all the dishes. I know it is by the Lake and in Montana but this was not healthy. After we found a safe place to stay the owner still charged us for the whole weekend!!! Disgusting !!! read more

This place was exactly what I needed for a short weekend away at the lake. Our cabin was right on the lake with walk down access to the lake. The view from our screened in porch was perfect in the morning and the evening. The place came with a grill which was perfect for hot dogs and hamburgers. The cabin accommodated 6 girls easily and had extra room for the other 6 ladies that came for breakfast and dinners nightly. The staff was super nice and available for taking us all to the canoe trail and dropping us off with all our gear as well as airing up our rafts for the lake. They have rentals available for paddle boarding, boating, canoeing, and kayaking or you can just go down to the beach area and play in the water. I can't wait to come back here with family and enjoy another long weekend! read more

I can't imagine a better place on the lake. The grounds are very clean and the staff were so accommodating and friendly. Cute little store here, paddle boards, etc were available. We will be back again for sure! We might get a little cabin next time to experience the site a little differently. read more

My family and I have made Tamaracks a regular destination when visiting MT in the summer every year and they never disappoint!! We were so disappointed that we flew in from across the country to spend the holiday weekend at Tamaracks Resort and our reservation couldn't be found! We prepaid with VRBO and I had had 5 communications with the owner over the last 2 months. 4 adults had to divide between 3 friends and sleep on couches for the weekend! We have heard that the resort was recently taken over and since that time, this has happened to others who have reserved with the resort or VRBO. We heard that if someone comes in that the resort owners can make a lot more money on, they will give away a reservation. This is not a way to take over a business and I sure hope this was a mistake! We flew 1,900 miles for a holiday weekend and slept on couches! Very poor customer service! read more

I want to start off my review by stating this place has a very special place in my heart, as my gramma has been coming to this place since she was 14 (now 81), and when she married my grampa, they came up regularly with their kids, and grand kids, and now great grand kids. However this last visit left us a little disappointed. The views are spectacular as always. But the cabins were the disappointment. My cabin was beautiful at first glance, but there was a raw hide bone left in the couch from the previous guest, as well as used soap in the soap caddy in the shower, and hair on the shower wall. (Two years prior, my aunt and uncle found a pot pipe in the couch in their cabin, so it seems to be a common thing) During this crazy covid time, one would think that these surface things wouldn't be missed. We will be back in 2 years, but I am hoping things will have changed for the better so we can continue to make family memories for many years to come. read more

This was the first time staying here and it will definitely not be the last! We were upgraded to the saddle shed, and that cabin is so perfect. Screened in porch, gas fireplace, all cozy log cabin! Stayed in a beautiful cabin right by the beach, although it's winter and the lake is frozen. They have an ice skating rink just off the shore and an ice fishing tent. We went cross country skiing on the groomed trail- had a blast! All kinds of fun things to do here even in winter. read more

Do NOT rent equipment from this place. A total rip off. They obviously do not maintain their equipment and will charge customer for routine repair parts. We rented a jet ski for 4 hours. The jet ski did not operate properly from the time we picked it up. We returned it after an hour and a half because it barely ran and owner had the outright nerve to charge us $225 for a wear ring and an additional $135 for 2 hours of rental. Very hard to defend yourself against an owner who is dishonest and lies. BEWARE read more

Terrific place. Enjoyed a long weekend reunion with friends. Well kept & appointed cabins on the lake. Just what you want for relaxing, playing or using as a base for exploring.
