My brother & I came to Tamarac apts on 4/1/26 & met the lovely & fantastic Alyse who showed us a beautiful apt that we were going to rent. Tragically, by the next morning my brother had passed away. I had to put moving on hold to take care of his final needs. When I told Alyse about this, she sent me the most thoughtful & sincere condolence note. I was very touched. I came back at the end of May & Alyse showed me several nice apts. She was never pushy or rushed me through it, she's very comfortable to be around, very down to earth. The good, at least for the ranch style apartments. Concrete was used as dividing walls between the units. These units are quite and without vibrations. You most likely will never hear your neighbors under any normal circumstance. The grounds are nice and offer a park like environment. The BAD...and there is a lot of bad. I lived their for a decade. Before Millennium split as a company it was run much better. If you think the grounds beautiful I'd suggest you drive thru the back of the complex. You'll find low branches from trees that scape taller SUV's and Pick-Up trucks. The really well maintained landscaping disappears the further back you retreat from the curb. Again the back of the complex has over grown foliage and unedged lines. Weeds grow up in between the untrimmed foliage. I got a case of poison ivy (See Picture) from brushing up against it unknowingly. When I was there the apartments boasted a 1980's motif, seashell sinks, appliances, and such. Not bad when the rent was reasonable but totally unreasonable for what they are asking now. The main problem is management. My garbage disposal broke and leaked. I was told to put a bucket under the sink and wait for a new one to be ordered. I waited the five days and was told it was still on order and should be in a week later. No even an apology for the inconvenience, much less an offer of a rent rebate. At this point I had to write a letter threatening to go to the city and presto it was fixed within a day. My AC unit leaked, as many others have indicated, into the closets first and then into the rooms and the hall. I point this out because most people don't know it is leaking until it pours out of the closet into the main unit. By the time the tenant is aware of the damage it is excessive. The pulled back the carpet and put a LOUD fan in the room for several days to dry it out. This fans sounds like a freight train. Again, on offer in rent payment due to my inconvenience or the increased electric bill from running a large fan non-stop for four days. Under the management my rent increased by what appears to have been 10% every year. Prior to this new management it was never above 5%, one year it had only been $5. When I asked what could be done they try and deflect to corporate and both the local management and corporate have the same reply. "Market demands." When I left I cleaned the apartment well and made sure no holes were in the wall. Still they came after me for the carpet. I did not complain for the damage due to foot wear and realized my $400 deposit was not going to be returned. However they came after me for hundreds of dollars for the water damage. A law firm contacted me trying to collect. I told him I would fight it and he understood. The calls stopped and to this day it has not shown on my credit report. Please listen to what I and the other reviewers with lengthy reviews are saying. The property is nice, it is the management company that is horrible. Offering monetary rewards for five star reviews is the worst kind of marketing. You'll notice they don't refute doing this. If the monetary rewards were for any kind of review this would still be questionable but then it is on the reviewer to be honest. By linking the review to a five star rating they are, in effect, buying positive reviews. This cast dispersions on all positive reviews, even the genuine ones. You're worth nothing to management as a person and only as a wealth generating apparatus. You'll pay for anything you do and often don't do that contributes to wear and tear of everyday living. They will never pay for the inconveniences they foist on their tenants. Again, I'll say pay heed to us with less than five star reviews. read more

Pathetic ownership, high cost for what's available, I would not recommend to any of my family or friends.

I was going to move in here one day later they said my dog was not the proper weight. The tenant is still occupying the suit. I paid security deposit of 350 dollars and when I said I wanted to avoid issue because of the dogs weight and didn't want to move in they kept my security deposit because they lost valuable time advertising the renting of this suit, although it is still occupied. They aren't willing to work with you unless they are trying to sign you up for rental. It took 3 days to get someone on the phone to tell me they were going to keep my money. Never stepped foot on the premises and they are keeping the funds for "liquidated damages". Slum lords. Be careful moving in here. Read the reviews. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. we stayed here for 2 years thankfully out now. Where to begin with the problems? Yearly increases in rent are normal this company will raise it by almost 200 dollars a year with no added benefit, I lived near Crocker Park for less and less of a increase. when asking the leasing office about it they say its corporate and ask if you want them to send over the notice to vacate form. constant problems with maintenance, would call multiple times for a problem which would never be resolved. One time the AC unit backed up and flooded the entire entry closet we called emergency maintenance he showed up with an attitude and ended up whipping a box across the room nearly hitting a candle. the carpet stayed soaking wet and flipped up for 3 weeks until their carpet guy could come out.... When telling management about this they acted like it was no problem, not even a sorry out of their mouths. The parking lots are atrocious during the winter time, your car and sidewalks will be buried by their snow plow crews that don't salt causing a giant sheet of ice. The dumpsters are always full because of the complex across the street dumping trash and when brought to managements attention with pictures they do nothing. they constantly offer gifts and drawing if you put a 5 star review on any site so don't believe everything you read. we finally moved out this past month and got a letter stating they were keeping our 300$ deposit and wanted us to pay an additional amount for a bunch of very vague descriptions of damages and damages that should be considered normal wear and tear. I just moved in a few months ago and I will say that I was VERY nervous because I was coming from a large beautiful home and I was not sure how I would adjust to apartment life again. However, I now know that I made the RIGHT choice with Tamarac and I love living here. The grounds and the apartments are very well maintained, it is very quiet and peaceful and you don't hear what your neighbors are doing. The office staff is very friendly and professional, especially Cindy. The apartments are set in a great location because you are out of all of the hustle and bustle but yet you are only minutes away from stores, parks and the freeway. Great place to live. read more

My wife and I have lived at Tamarac Apartments in Willoughby for about 7 years and we finally moved out recently as we bought a house. Our security deposit was $99 which was supposed to be returned to us after they inspected our previously leased apartment. We just got a letter notifying us we need to pay them $14 due to the following: Our security deposit was $99 Their charges for us are: 'Removed shelf in laundry' $85 'Replaced drip pans on range' $28 So apparently we owe them $14 now. If we do not pay this amount, they will turn us to their collection agency, they stated in their letter. Now, for 7 years we have been there, we were not late a single time with our monthly payment. We never caused any issues for anyone to complain about us. We never broke or damaged anything in our apartment except for obvious wear and tear issues that we reported and they came out to replace. When we left the apartment, the shelf in the laundry room was just fine. We never had any issues with it and it was not broken or anything at all. The drip pan on range, not sure what this exactly is, but this sounds to me like a wear and tear issue. It sounds like something they would have covered and fixed themselves anyway after 7 years. I also would like to add that in 7 years we have been there they only cleaned the carpet once (we had to ask them about it - we did not have pets) and never replaced a very old fridge that was dripping water. One of our neighbors kept making a mess when gardening in front of our own apartment even though they said no one is allowed to garden. They don't care about your belongings. If you leave something outside they will just throw it away. Trying to move out has been a hassle, seems like no one there knows really what needs to be done to break your lease early. With only being there less than a year and only have a couple more days to go I can't wait to get out of this place! read more

I have lived in numerous apartment complexes, and this is at least in the top 2, if not my favorite. I lived here for 3 years. It was quiet, peaceful (I lived on a ranch-style one bedroom) and in a beautiful setting. I especially loved being able to walk with my dog to Lake Erie -- beautiful park about 1 mile away. The city of Willoughby was a pleasure to live in. I loved my little garden out front. There is ample space to walk or jog around the area. I trained for a half marathon living here! I had no issues moving in or out. No hidden charges upon move out. Loved having an in-unit washer and dryer (I paid a company to install them and I paid a small fee monthly to use them). No apartment complex is perfect (an open concept kitchen would've been awesome!), but this one was one of my all-time favorites. :) read more

I'm extremely frustrated by Tamarac Apartments. While it was a great place to live, quiet and close to everything. I would never recommend this to a friend or family member, because after three years of loyal service i was hit with a 1300 dollar bill due to carpet needing to be replaced and a bullshit fee for having an illegal pet which is not correct! I had to call to see if i owed anything which i assumed i would because if you read the reviews no one ever gets there's back. I think this is extremely ridiculous considering that I'm pretty sure they should be changing the carpet after every tenant anyway and the carpet is cheap as shit. The fact that i had to call them because my letter mysteriously disappeared in the mail( which by the way ) apparently this Money is due on the 30th. COVID hit us all hard and while i was furloughed i worried if i would be able to pay my rent. When asking if i could make arrangements i was told i had the three day window and on the fourth day it was business as usual. I am horrified that this is how a company is ran and even more shocked that this company is still in business. Do your research people. I'd rather live somewhere where people actually care and don't try to nickel and dime you. I called the leasing office to discuss and of course the associate was out of the office. read more

If I could put a negative star I would, I've lived here for about two years now and I have had nothing but problems in this place the leasing agents are horrible and talk down to you specially the cracked out looking one with long black hair! They have not fixed anything that we have asked in a timely manner, we would have to wait weeks to get things fixed or they would not fix it at all! We had a hole in the ceiling for a month around the 4th of July and I know you could imagine how hot it was, they didn't fix it for a month and my electric bill went from 118 to 585 due to the hole they wouldn't fix. There is also a hole downstairs that I've called and even went into the office about and they never had it fix it is still there till this day and that happened last year. Our closet door broke from normal wear tear and they never fixed that either but wrote it off as if it got done. Everything that has broke in this apartment we had to go to Lowe's or Home Depot to go fix whatever needed to be fixed, this is wrong if I live in a apartment!! The maintenance people if you do get lucky enough for them to fix what you need fixed they come over smelling like booze and argue with you. This place is the worst place I ever lived in!! Please do not put you family or yourself through the trouble of moving here, the appearance is nice but what you get is not worth the headache!! First I want to say, this is a great place to live, the place is well taken care of, the apartments are well built. I love peace and quiet, I can hardly hear my neighbors, only when I have nothing on and they are loud. Now, for why I did not give it a 5 stars. Every year since I've been here, they have raised my rent normally around $30 a month. I'm on a fixed income and it works out to be more than inflation. I can understand an increase but I'm losing out as are so many that live here. For the tenants that have been here for awhile, they should lower the increase or skip one every couple of years. I am paying around $120 more a month (roughly 12% more) than when I moved in and I'm not getting anything more for my money. Like I said, an increase might be necessary to cover inflation but Not when it goes from $995 a month to $1025 a month in 2020 thats a roughly 3% increase and I'm only due to get a 1.25% increase in retirement money, inflation is not at 3% and the amount of money most of us bring in has not gone up that much. Like I said, it's a great place to live if you can afford the yearly increases. read more

I have lived in Tamarac for 5 years and never have I been more disgusted. Let me start by saying that the leasing office has lost my check one other time before now. Which now makes it twice its happened, when admitting they are wrong is something they'll never do. Also the maintenance is unbelievably horrible when it comes to fixing anything in the apartment. I feel has the employees in the office are incompetent and its time to clean house to get some real workers who care about the place. read more

We have lived in the apartment for 4 years, and I am really happy to move out. To begin with, the leasing staff is rude, unprofessional, and unfriendly as many prior reviewers noted in their comments. They talk to you as if they make you a big favor that they allow you to live here, they interrupt when you are expressing your concerns, and can even hang up on you. All they care about is your money. When I had a complaint about an abandoned vehicle parked in front of my apartment without license tag, full of trash and empty boxes inside, the manager Doug said there was nothing he could do as they do not tow vehicles from here. Not to mention that parking lot is not marked, people park however they want without consideration to other residents. So if you don't get home early enough, you are going to have to park 5 minutes away. Maintenance work is not getting done nearly fast. We literally had a hydrant fountain under our balcony for 3 months, until finally they came out and fixed it. To start from the very beginning of our lease, we did not see our apartment until we signed the lease contract. Apparently this is their so-called "policy". All they care about is to fill the place. You walk in, they show you a model suite located in the leasing office, they tell you there will be a unit "exactly like this one" available in 1-2-3 months. They assure it will have fresh paint and clean carpet. You come back to sign the lease and they show you something you have not expected. This is called bait and switch. If you refer a friend here, they promise you $100 check. The check never comes in the mail, you call them, they tell you "oh, it was sent out 3 months ago and it does show it has not been cashed yet, but we cannot just reissue it, we are going to charge you $35 cancelled check fee, here you are". Tamarac is a SCAM. Another complaint is snow in winter. They do NOT plow the parking lot and do NOT salt whatsoever. So if you are "lucky" to start your work day at 8 or earlier, be prepared to call your employer and tell them you are going to be couple hours late because you cannot get out of a big snow pile your landlord did not take care of. The sidewalks are slippery, a little salt would have been nice, especially when you are walking with 5 bags of groceries. When we moved in here, we had a nice young working couple living downstairs. Unfortunately, they moved out and an elderly couple moved in. Now we are too loud to walk, to watch TV, to listen to music, and our dog is too loud at barking. I must mention that for prior 3 years we had no complaints about any noise from our apartment, evidently the reason is not us but the neighbors. For future residents who may read this, this is not a senior living home! If you are not ready for other people to live and move around you, don't move in here, buy a house! Tamarac does allow pets including dogs, but don't be fooled by their "pet friendly" policy. There are many more other apartments in this area where you can have a dog. Tamarac apparently thinks dogs are stuffed animals who cannot bark or whine. So you end up paying $400 security deposit ($250 of which is non-refundable) and extra $30/month when couple months later they tell you you need to get rid of your dog because he/she is barking. What a surprise! And I'm not talking about excessive barking or barking at night, we would never allow that. We got a complaint that our dog was barking at 2pm on Sunday! I cannot imagine what they would have said if we had a baby. The moral of the story is that if you have other options to consider, please do so, otherwise you will be miserable, disappointed, and treated poorly during your stay. Not to mention Tamarac is very overpriced for the premises and service you get, you have to pay extra $30/month for a garage. I would not recommend these apartments to any family who have children, dogs, or anyone else. Tamarac is very unfair in treating different people that live here. Please AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more
