The hotel was built in the Spanish Colonial Revival-style of architecture and it opened in 1926 as the Alterep Hotel during Florida's wealthy land boom years. It's distinctive yellow color and history makes it one of the most recognizable buildings in Delray Beach. The are several little shops in this area of the building including Beach Paradise, a women's clothing store and a gift shop, Just Hearts. Salutations of Delray was started by Diana Bush in 2004 as a result of searching for invitations to purchase for her daughters upcoming wedding. They specialize in custom wedding invitations and announcements along with custom stationary and greeting cards. Other things they carry included linen towels with funny phrases, Pampa Bay tableware, Nora Fleming stoneware, Thymes Frasier Fir candles and diffusers, items that can be personalized, children's gifts. and party supplies. The store motto is "Everyday is an occasion...celebrate in style!" Writing a letter and personalized stationary seems to be a kind of lost art in the email world of today and I love that you can rediscover that here. They will also help you craft the perfect invitation or announcement and don't forget that there are so many unique and whimsical items for gifts or gifting yourself. If you are in the downtown Delray Beach area, this store is an elegant and fun stop to make.

What a cool place, with not only an outdoor lot full of planters, pots, and statuettes of all sizes, colors and shapes, but also a store that goes on room after room displaying amazingly cool items, like furniture, plates, wood carvings, etc etc. There are so many items everywhere, it's easy to miss even the coolest stuff, so look around closely! Exotic's offerings span the globe, from the Americas to Africa and the middle east (I noticed a few pieces from Ukraine). Staff is friendly and helpful. Again, like other places along N. Federal Highway in Delray, it's easy to miss and you don't appreciate it from the street. I only went because a friend recommended it.

Our friend, visiting from Orlando, wanted something similar for inside his home. We started our day at the Exotic Furniture & Pottery store in Boynton Beach. Inside the large un-air conditioned space is an eclectic mix of furniture, pottery & decorative objects from around the world. We were not looking for anything for ourselves, but went with a friend, who wanted our help choosing an item for his new home. He found something beautiful & equally funky as our bench for his home...& was on his way. While there, we bought a few flower pots. I also found an item that I wanted, but wished for additional selections. The sales person suggested that we check on the items in their Delray store. The Delray store selection is somewhat different. They have a large side yard with a much larger collection of pottery planters, decorative objects and more. They don't have as much furniture, due to the smaller sized store. Inside the small air conditioned space is an variety of decorative objects from around the world. If you like their merchandise in one store, go to both...the selection differs.
