I think this is the best gelato/ice cream shop in Adelaide. They have 48 flavors as the store name…read moresays and it takes forever to decide what I want. My absolute favorite is black sesame. If you like Asian taste in your ice cream, you cannot go wrong with sesame. Lychee is refreshing, and caramel fig and rum raisin are also my favorite as I can taste a little of pick me up (wink wink). My sister's favorite is gorgonzola pear and fig but we were told it is only seasonal as they want to keep their ingredients authentic as possible. The Asian male staff was very helpful and he even mixed flavors for us to try something new and creative! Highly recommended.

Not that anything is wrong with Gelatissimo but damn 48 Flavors had me really impressed. Because they have flavours that other icecream places do not have. Actually, for me it's just 3 flavours in particular. Durian, Taro and Black Sesame. With durian, it's probably one of the most divisive foods I can think of. People either absolutely love it or hate it. It has a custard-like texture with a rich creamy quality. However the people who absolutely despise it will point out it's pungent aroma, and pungent it putting it very politely. Basically it smells like rotting fruit mixed with other things. It's considered the Kind of Fruits in SE Asia and it's definitely one of my favourites. I wasn't going to get anything...until I saw the sign saying 'Durian Icecream- Tasting Available.' I think my eyes widened a bit and I immediately went to buy a scoop. I tasted before buying and then changed my mind to 2 scoops!! It's that good. The icecream's flavour 100% matches that of ripe durian, and I was kicking myself that it took me so long to discover it. I'm definitely coming back to try a few more flavours, and to get the durian a few more times. However I may need to sit a bit further away from my friends, because they kept pointing out the smell!

It cost $99. First was wagu croquette, basically a crumbed mushy puree, then salty and pepper squid, which was okay, then overcooked whiting dripping in grease, a mediocre salad of winter vegetables, some chips and overcooked roast potato portions. Also a small plate of sliced wagu to share. No desserts, no cheeses, no coffee, no choices. And there goes $99 Per person. Having said that the service was good. If it did not have the beachfront location you wouldn't bother.

While it is pretty casual inside the food is much more than you might expect from what looks like a shack on the beach. We enjoyed the fish of the day, grilled served with a few chips and salad. We also shared a tomato salad entree and some bread. Food was fresh, high quality and perfectly prepared. Portions were very reasonable - this is not a place where you need to order an appetizer instead of a main course to avoid over eating. Service was very warm and welcoming and you just can't beat the view. If you want to eat inside away from the heat, advance reservations are essential. Recommended.

And lower fat if that's your thing! The decor is modern and fresh with decent seating inside. You simply walk in, choose what size bowl you want, choose you flavour and help yourself to the yogurt machines.... You can have as much or as little as you want, mix flavours or whatever! Next step is toppings, you can choose from fruity, crunchy, nutty, lollies.... Just a good range of toppings!! Followed by a choice of caramel or Choc fudge sauce if you want! Then you simply weigh the entire bowl and pay! Simple!! The shop also does smoothies etc that need to be ordered at the counter! The place has alway been clean and tidy when I've visited and the staff have been friendly! The only reason this shop gets 4 stars is because of you over indulge in toppings the price can be quite high!!

The afternoon was perfect with the sun blazing down and warming the freezing cold air, and the setting was tranquil amidst the tall ships. So - to eat. The menu looked very comprehensive and deliciously tempting. I wasn't there for a major meal, just a quick meeting with our beloved CM, so something small and sweet beckoned (and I'm not talking about our CM here - who is both of those things!) I wanted chocolate. It's my right as a human being. So a 'Smuckers Chocolate Fudge'it was. The owner and chef Sylv, took my order and the pancakes arrived a short time later looking very edible! The pancakes themselves were fluffy and delicious, however the chocolate sauce that they'd been dribbled with looked a bit insipid, and the first taste confirmed that the sauce used had probably come from one of those plastic bottles of sauce that you can buy in any supermarket. Disappointing. I'd hoped for a thick home-made sauce if truth be known. It even tasted watery. The whole thing was very tasty, don't get me wrong, but I was definitely upset with the sauce. The pancakes came with a sufficient dollop of delicious vanilla ice-cream and I'd ordered some extra fresh cream to go with it. For 2 pancakes with sauce and creams it cost $15. Is that good value? I'm not really sure to be honest - but I think I'll need to go back to taste one of their savoury pancakes (of which the menu is plentiful) to make up my mind further. The location of Pancakes At The Port cannot be faulted - it's wonderful. And after a day shopping at the various local markets, a stop here would be ideal. It's open from 8am-4pm every day but does tend to get very busy at weekends, and consequently they don't take bookings. Best thing you can do is try it - see what you think and write your own review.
