My provider charged $25 for 30 minutes and applied baby oil. Scheduling was easy via phone. When my husband and I arrived, the practice was run by one woman and one man, and the man performed the cupping. Unfortunately, the experience was terrible and disappointing. The cotton ball dipped with alcohol as it was used to create suction was heavily burned and blackened, and the inside of the glass cups was also dark and appeared unclean. The suction was extremely weak--some cups felt like they were about to fall off. My husband noticed the same issue before I did. Afterward, I raised my concerns with the woman, explaining that the cupping was unusually loose. Instead of acknowledging the issue, they denied there was any problem. I have extensive experience with cupping and know how it should be done. While the price was low, the lack of hygiene and poor technique are unacceptable. I would not return and do not recommend this place.

But it was the opposite of our route. So, I decided to go to a TCM store next to HMart. Just so happened, it was closed. Then, I saw T&M Variety. We have been back ever since. I came back because I like their operation. They utilize the available space to display their merchandise in cubicle shelves. They are more attractive than other TCM stores because the packages are fresh looking. They kept some items in the refrigerator because of heat and humidity. Only experts know how to prolong the freshness of dried herbal medicines.

I've gotta tell you, after my first treatment I felt like someone took away a rucksack filled with rocks off of my back. I came back for sciatica pain few weeks later. This time was an acupuncture treatment. Dr. Lu's technique is very skillful. There were 2 types needles, orange one applied to my forehead and others in my belly and legs. I didn't feel any different right after. But I felt energizes after 4 hours of my usual grocery shopping. I normally take an hour nap before repackaging meats away. But that day, I had so much energy I even cooked our dinner, prepared my lunch and washed dishes. People always think Yelp is for restaurants and Yelpers are all foodies. Not so fast. There are so many non-food businesses in town that with mentioning. You may have seen my cupping photos (multiple shades of circles on my back). She swears by the father daughter duo, and says they are worth the drive (it's about a 30-45 min. drive depending traffic for me). I was looking for a TCM place since I've been getting sick quite frequently this year and wanted to "rebalance" my body. I purchased their 10 visit pass and have been here twice now for acupuncture, moxa, cupping and herbal medicine. I don't think they take insurance, but I paid out of pocket. The package deal is cheaper than paying for each session separately. They also don't take appointments, so best that you call before you head over. I haven't had to wait at all for the last 2 times that I've been but I did call ahead of time. They speak mainly Chinese but can communicate with limited English (only the daughter can speak English), It's enough to know what treatment you're getting. They ask you a few questions, take you pulse on your wrist and look at your tongue to diagnose you. They will tell you what treatment they recommend afterwards. Each session is about 30-45 minutes. They do get you in and out pretty quickly. I do wish they spend a bit more time explaining what they are doing and why, but I think it's mainly due to the language barrier. I speak conversation Chinese but not enough to talk TCM. I'll starting asking more question in my next visits and report back. TCM does take time to see results so will update my review after I finish my 10 visits.

I recommend calling before to make sure they are open cause we made the drive and they were closed. They are typically open Monday-Sat from 10-4pm. It's a father daughter clinic (I think) and the father is so cute and sweet! When you walk into the clinic, you can smell the herbs! You can definitely tell they have been practicing for years. They have packages like buy 5 or 10 sessions. My package came with herbs, acupuncture, cupping and all for a reasonable price. Definitely check them out if you're close. They do not take appointments or insurance, so keep that in mind!
