Last July TAK (for Comcast) came out to bury my cable while I wasn't home. I came back to see a horrible mess in my backyard and alongside my driveway. They did $2,000 worth of damage to my property and drilled into my brand new siding, which no cable company had ever done for simply burying a cable. The backyard was tore up, and you could see the cable thru the various holes they left. The crew also ran a tracked vehicle repeatedly thru my front yard, which I was told they would not do as there was no reason for a tracked vehicle to go thru my front yard I raised hell with Comcast for so long that they forwarded my complaints to TAK comm. After 5 1/2 months, TAK Comm. sent out a supervisor to assess the damage. It was still visible, but not as bad. He acted like he did not want to be there and he could care less. But he could put forth the effort to spout company propaganda. I forwarded all the photos of the damage and he filed his report. I have not heard from TAK again. It's as if "We're TAK Communications, we can do what ever the hell we want to customer property and never have to take responsibility." They came out just a few weeks ago to bury another cable after my landscape guy damaged the previous one. The installer drove up in my driveway then proceeded to park his vehicle on my brand new, freshly laid sod, and acted surprised and shocked when I yelled at him to get his ******* truck off my my brand new sod. TAK Communications seems to encourage flagrant vandalism to customer property knowing they do not have to suffer any consequences. read more

TAK Communications is the worst contractor I've had in my home installing COMCAST. I had to call back to COMCAST to get it reinstalled correctly. The technician was very rude and unprofessional. Don't have a TAK Communications contractor install for you!! read more

When i ordered the 30Mbps package I was told there was an optional installation fee and opted out…read moreas I've worked in IT and know how to set up a router. Still, a technician was sent out to call in the order and I set it up. I received a $232 bill for the first month. Besides the nickel and dimeing order fees I received a $75 install fee. I called customer service and asked for the incorrect charge to be removed. Instead of removing the fee they adamantly argued that the installation fee is always mandatory and that I was confused. I said I wasn't comfortable paying the fee and was threatened with credit services. They bullied me into paying up and I immediately disconnected my service, racking up another $100 disconnect fee. The connection speed hovered around 25 Mbps but throttled down to just 15 Mbps with frequent disconnects in just 2 weeks! I had a more reliable connection with Mediacom and that's saying something. I ended up hotspotting data and while not optimal, it's miles better than the "service" provided. TL;DR Speed/Reliability is below average. Cost is insane, should be half the amount. Customer service is non-existent at Swiftel. If you have a different option than Swiftel/Mediacom in Brookings, take it.

Swiftel does things as difficult as they can legally get away with. Here are some issues I have…read morewith them. - Slow upload speeds - Non-competitive internet prices - If you only want internet, you are also forced to get phone service - Only sends notifications via snail mail (if they get lost, it's not their problem) - If you're late expect a disconnect within 10 days. - If you're late expect to pay a fee of about $20 to reconnect - If you get disconnected expect to pay a $180 deposit, which they will keep for 12 months and only refund with perfect payment history. - Uncaring phone support - Sends independent statements, but slips most notices in with municipal utilities I would recommend another provider, but the only other option in the Brookings area is Mediacom which isn't much better.

I'm a former employee at TAK. I've worked there for several years. This is a JOB NOT A CAREER!! Don't be fooled with management...ALL TALK! Lack of communication and no career grow. You could be a supervisor in a couple of year if u bust your ass! And if you become a supervisor your babysitting your technicians and if you fail as a supervisor, TAK will bring you down as a tech. The pay is not enough! You have to hustle for your pay, which means you only get payed if you completed your job if not your getting compensated with $11.00 an hour. The training SUCKS!! Pretty much NO PROFESSIONAL TRAINING, just riding around with a lazy technician. Too much politics in this company because there only contractors for Comcast! If you want to pursue a career this is a complete waste of your time! P.S. DONT BE FOOLED BY MANAGEMENT IF YOU GET HIRED, THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU AFTER HIRE!! read more
