Osteria Broccaindosso - Lasagna was absolutely delicious!

We split the platter of meats, lasagna, tortellini, tagliatelle and ragu, and grilled veggies. The lasagna was soft, pillowy, and decadent without being heavy, the tagliatelle was al dente and flavorful, and the tortellini stuffed with creamy ricotta. For dessert we split a generous portion of tiramisu, which was creamy and rich. We had a couple bottles of Chianti. The ambiance is relaxing with a neighborhood vibes. This is a wonderful osteria, everything was chef's kiss.

They didn't have any tables outside so we were seated inside. Service (3.5/5): No WiFi unfortunately which isn't great for an international traveler like me. Standard European service. Not terribly friendly and not terribly efficient but I would say they were a bit more attentive than the norm. They did hook us up with some complimentary limoncello shots which was a really nice touch. Ambiance (3.5/5): A little quieter since it's off the beaten path which I like. A pleasant, homey restaurant. Drinks (4.5/5): We shared a bottle of wine. And the aforementioned limoncello shots. Food (4/5): We went with their pasta for two deal where each person gets three different types of pasta that you choose from six or so options. I love getting a variety of dishes so this was a nice way to do it. Not huge portions given the price but still delicious. The dishes were served to us quickly and we got to try some pastas we had never heard of. Overall: When in Bologna, Osteria Broccaindosso makes for a fine choice. It's a 15-minute walk or so from the center of town.

So I have pretty mixed feelings about this place…read more First, the good. The ambiance and atmosphere here is incredibly enjoyable. We stayed here and worked in the mornings for a week, and by my count there were 9 different languages being spoken at any given time during that span. It's both a very social place but also one where you can get a lot of work done. We saw a coder completely locked in and developing with a passion right next to two old friends chatting the day away. As for the coffee, their prices are very reasonable, their staff super friendly, and their food is really good. Something like burrata and tomato is a fantastic midday meal. Now, the not so good. What I found particularly un-stellar, if you will, was that both the power and the Internet would cut out intermittently. Their wireless provider WiMan seemed to have issues keeping me connected, and in 3 days we experienced 4 power outages (they didn't last very long, though). Also, they have a pretty large menu but often don't have the supply to match it. We tried several times for different biscottis or paninis, but they didn't have them available. For these reasons, that's why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 5. Still, the ambiance is really fun and it's a great place to spend a few hours either to work and/or people watch. Just don't come if you're really Internet-dependent

Faced with the prospect of no dinner, we were headed to a grocery store when we passed this wonderful little place. Having ordered an aperitivo, one is invited to enjoy a complimentary buffet of scrumptious vegetarian dishes that are more than sufficient to substitute for a light dinner. The waiters were young and friendly. One was delighted to try out his English with us or to speak Spanish if we preferred. They offered several wines by the glass, and the one that I tried was delightful. No question that we would return here.

Came for weekday dinner around 7:30 and it was about a 15 mins on queue until we got seated. The place is very busy inside and popping. you write your order on paper which is a cool experience. I ordered the tagliatelle al ragù and the tortellini in brodo, and both were excellent. The tagliatelle had that perfect fresh, silky texture, and the ragù was rich, deeply savoury, and comforting without being overly heavy. It felt like exactly the kind of dish you come to Bologna hoping to eat. The tortellini in brodo were equally memorable: delicate, neatly made pasta parcels in a clear, flavourful broth that was simple but full of depth. This place is highly recommended showcasing Bolognese cuisine.

It's not a place you'll linger over a leisurely meal. But the food is terrific. The menu is split between classics and creative takes, it was great to share and sample from several. There are certainly more "authentic" places you could go (even though this one has been around for decades); a dinner place in Italy whose kitchen closes at 8 raises an eyebrow. But it's a great experience as a visitor and inviting.
