We got our pup, Casey, from TW911 in 2011, transported from GA. He is the best dog. When we got him, we were told he was 3 months old. They thought the breed was part Rottweiler. He weighed 4lbs! I thought if he is 3 months old and 4 lbs, I have a purse dog. Casey grew and grew to 88lbs, and he is 88lbs of pure affection. He has a great personality and never meets a stranger. Everyone loves Casey. We did do DNA testing on him. He's a mix of a lot of things. No Rottweiler! He has got a lot of lab. He is the perfect fit for our family. read more

I have fostered for 6 years and adopted 4 dogs from Tailwaggers911. The dogs are wonderful, so happy to be saved. I only have one adopted dog left through them but Sam is 17 years old. The dogs are well behaved, and I received so much assistance from Tailwaggers. While fostering if a dog didn't do well with my current dogs and cats, the rescue would quickly move them to a more appropriate setting. Highly recommend Tailwaggers911. read more

I have fostered for a few different places and have never come across an organization so caring, prepared and truly there to do whatever needs to be done for your foster dog. (Even after they are adopted). Tailwaggers911 has been such a blessing to be a part of and not only have I enjoyed every second and gotten to love on so many cute pups but I've also met some pretty great people too! This organization doesn't have its priorities straight at all. The communication is terrible and I got declined due to financial trouble I had found myself in...10 years ago! They don't look at the present time and realize people do have a past. If my bank has allowed me to purchase a home and a vehicle, it's pretty sad they feel I can't financially support a dog. And not willing to talk about it at all. They say they are willing to hear about the circumstances, but they are not. There are plenty of better organizations to adopt from. Don't give your money to these people. read more

A scam BEWARE, they are only in it for the money. Dawn actually took us to court to get our dog and the money because after speaking with her I was not comfortable having her in my home. Completely agree with Kadie's earlier review. Deserve no stars. After completing an 8 page application and clearing the way for both my vet and landlord to communicate with them, it still took 4 weeks for them to approve my application. I followed up by email a number of times to see what I could do to help move things along but got no response from anyone. All three of the dogs I was interested in were gone by the time they got back to me. None of them were in "pending status" until a week or two after submitting my application. I applied because I supported what I thought was the group's mission statement on their website. It seemed like they truly wanted to get these dogs into good homes and the website led me to believe that this would be a better alternative to craigslist or a breeder. For claiming to be a rescue organization, there doesn't appear to be any urgency to get the dogs adopted into good homes. I had hoped that my experience was not typical, but after reading the reviews on here - which I had not done first - unfortunately it appears that this is standard operating procedure for this group. At this point, I am actually concerned about them having my personal information. I wish I had never applied. Don't waste your time with this crew. read more

Terrible organization to do business with. Our application was denied, and when I provided the evidence of the untrue statement of of their denial, I was still denied. Then I did they same type of "So called Background check" they did on me, but I did it on the Founder Dawn and to say the VERY LEAST, she shouldn't even be allowed to be in this business with her excessive background. These innocent hearts deserve happy loving homes, and that is not what they are providing for all of them, some maybe, but not all. I now feel at ease that we didn't get that sweet baby. Who's to say she wouldn't scam us as she did other adopters. I wouldn't even give them one star. Wanted to adopt a dog and they said that we were not fit. I give my furbabies plenty of water, food and shelter and lots of loving. How dare you say I neglected my dog because I didn't have records of heartworm and testing. A neglected animal is when they are stuck outside with no food, water and love!!!! read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. Not only are they RUDE AS HELL, they also seem to think theres no rush on adoptions, WHICH is INSANE! I've been emailing them countless times no reply so when I FINALLY get a hold of someone she says. "I dont have time for this, email us and hung up on me talking." WHAT?!?!?! They are only in it for the money and give no info on the dogs nor do they even house them there. We have adopted both of our dogs from Tailwaggers911 after using the humane society for years. Tailwaggers911 takes the time to make sure you are the right fit for the dog. They foster their pups before adoption so they get acclimated to home life as well as get some training. We could not be happier with them. My best guess for the bad reviews is that they are from people that didn't want to comply with the completely reasonable requirements for adoption (which again, puts the dog's best interests first). We adopted a dog from here, and have had nothing but problems with him. We took our other dog to the foster home to meet the new pup, and I didn't think they hit it off. The foster made every effort to make the TW dog look perfect. Nothing was disclosed about him marking in the house, his resource guarding, uncontrollable behavior in the car, etc. We have called a behavioral trainer, and are going to work on these issues. Worst experience ever! They lied to us and falsified paperwork syaing the dog was healthy and neutered. So untrue! We took the dog to the vet because he had live white worms filled his stool! They also found he had a tic born illness and was in very bad shape. After several calls this orginization finally said they would only pay for the operation but not antibiotics or anistitia! Seriously they talk about companionship but lack any sort of humanity for these poor dogs that they lie to people and say if you dont pay rhe $450 to adopt them they will be put to sleep! I have nothing but good things to say about Tailwagger's 911. They are the most caring rescue group I have ever been affiliated with. I foster for them they give me great dogs everything has been nothing but a success. I take them to the vet for the regular check ups. I'm provided with plenty of toys plenty of food. We all love what we're doing and we will continue doing what we do out of the love for the dogs. Every dog should have an opportunity to be rescued and brought to a forever home that will make them happy forever. read more

I had a very good experience with this group within the past two weeks. They responded promptly when I expressed interest via email and then submitted an application. Communication between myself, Tailwaggers 911 and the dog's current foster family was prompt, clear and polite. All the info Tailwaggers and the foster mom gave me was correct. I really appreciated that we could have an in-home trial for up to five days to see how things would work out. This was a sweet, smart dog, but our family was not a good match due to the dog having more energy than was right for us. The foster family did a tremendous job in working with this dog and preparing him for family life. When we found he wasn't a good match, he went back to this original foster family. We're confident he will continue to be loved and have great training to prepare him to be a wonderful member of another family. read more

I don't know what all the fuss is about on here... But let it be known, the people leaving these reviews are only a small, very small, number of the people that interact with Tailwaggers on even a weekly basis. Frankly it never occurred to me to look at Yelp for something other than restaurants really, but I was thinking of recent experiences and TW911 is one of them. My wife and I have a wonderful little girl Taco now. I like that they came out to our home to make sure we all fit well together. No pressure, no rush, everyone just checking each other out. Now any normal person has to wonder what it is that some of these people are trying to keep away from "prying eyes". If you're too ashamed or too busy to show your home to person who dedicates a portion of their life to this cause... You don't deserve the dog. Fact. You don't deserve the countless hours the foster mom/dad has spent with puppy at night. You don't deserve the experiences they can share with you or the habits they might know of. These dogs come from a kill shelter, this is their last chance. TW911 goes to extreme lengths to make sure the dogs they home are going to stay there forever. If you can't appreciate that, then yes, get your dog from a shelter. Get your dog from that cold cage its been in for literally who knows how long. Take it from that cage that its been in, alone, with little to no human interaction for what could be quite some time. Your home may be just slightly better for that animal than a shelter cage... Me? No thanks, I'll get my dog from a REAL home. From a place where someone has dedicated their time, home, and family to the betterment of this animal. Foster parents don't have hours. They don't get to just leave them in a cage all day. Well, at least not with TW. People that don't understand or appreciate this process, frankly, are the people they want to avoid. Those people are the problem. These 1 star people, are the problem. It blows my mind that they don't see that. The "Happy Tails" section of the TW site is updated very often with many dogs that have found new forever homes. That picture is taken after "the home visit". Clearly all those "happy tails" adopters found a way to deal with this "rude woman". Her name is Dawn by the way... Clearly these people found a way through the non-returned emails or calls. I know I did. Right up front they say that it is NOT a first come first serve basis. They say the process could take "up to" two weeks or more to get approved. These are not secrets, these one star reviewers were not treated unfairly - or rudely. THEY TELL YOU IT TAKES A LONG TIME BEFORE YOU EVEN START APPLYING! And thats what it is. An application. Just because you think you're the best thing ever, you might not be. They don't call you back because they hope you will go away. I am so thankful the dogs have this organization to act as a firewall from sketch people. And know this, if you can't wait a few weeks for them to check you out, juggle foster families, locate and transport new pups, run fundraisers, go to events, and do all the other behind the scenes things... then TW911 is not for you and you are sketch. But if you recognize that the world doesn't revolve around you, that these people are volunteering their homes, and that you will get a dog thats worth the wait... I promise you will have an outstanding experience. And I am quite often a cynical fellow. Ours was nothing short of that, outstanding. Taco is awesome. She fits right in with our family and is the best behaved dog - old or puppy, I've ever seen. She loves people. She goes potty outside - almost always. She loves toys, treats, new outfits... I know for a fact she wouldn't be the same if the first few months of her life were in a metal box. Think about that when you decide where you'll get your dog from. If you can't wait a few weeks, or if you demand instant replies from people that do it out of the goodness of their heart, don't get a dog. Certainly don't get a dog from TW. I just adopted my furry baby from Tailwaggers911 and I had an amazing experience. I am not a friend or employee like someone suggested on their review. But I did honestly see these reviews and think twice. I ended up talking to a friend who works for a different rescue in a different state and she convinced me to not go by these and I am sure glad she did. My furry baby had a few small issues after I took him but Dawn was amazing, worked closely with me and paid all the vet bills that he needed. She really cares for these dogs is doing an amazing thing. My furry babies foster mom was really amazing too. I'm so glad I looked past everyone's negative comments because if I didn't I wouldn't have my sweet guy. He is perfect for our family and is truly an amazing dog. I hope to adopt a dog again on the future when the time is right for my family and I will definitely go through Tailwaggers911 again. read more

I have owned 3 dogs in my adult life (2 with special needs) and 4 cats. I have adopted from our local humane society and other rescue shelters successfully in the past. I am very experienced and familiar with the process of adopting a pet. I recently filled out the 8 page application on senior special needs dog with TW911 along with the background check. My application was approved and I was contacted within a few days of submitting my application. I arranged for my adult son and I to go and meet the dog with the foster family. The dog was labeled as being special needs for medical reasons. I asked the foster mother very basic questions about the dog's current health and medical history. There was very little she could offer. She could not even tell me the name of the dog's vet. I found this to be very troubling. Even though my son and I very much liked the dog, I indicated that I needed to time to give this more thought and I wished to contact the dog's vet to obtain more information. I told the foster mom I would be making more inquiries. I also contacted the owner of TW911 to request that this dog's medical information be released to me. I did not hear back from her immediately, so I went ahead and contacted the vet myself to see what I could find out. The vet indicated that she had only examined the dog on one occasion and told me what her diagnosis was. She said she did not know the rest of the dog's medical history. Later I spoke with the owner of TW911 and I relayed what the vet had shared with me. The owner responded by saying that the vet and the animal hospital lied to me. I was completely taken aback by this response. I had no reason to suspect the vet was lying to me about not knowing the dog's medical history. I requested the dog's medical records. I said I did not wish to take a dog into my home without knowing his full medical history as any responsible pet owner would do. The owner repeatedly told me that this was not the procedure of TW911. They did not release medical records to POTENTIAL adoptive families, but only AFTER the adoption process was completed. Very sketchy....... Again, I stated that I wouldn't agree to take any dog into my care without the paperwork. She did eventually provide it to me, but I noticed that there wasn't a rabies vaccine certificate among the paperwork. I kindly requested to see that additional document. When I did, she became clearly very upset/irate and informed me that she wouldn't be releasing one more document regarding the dog to me because she " did not know me". Did not know me??? Seriously?? I had filled out an 8 page adoption application that was approved by TW911 and had undergone a background check. She and her organization knew more about me than I knew about the dog!!!!!! Clearly, she never read my application or my background check. The owner even accused me of not having read the dog's medical records, which I had, in fact, I had done so in its entirety. I was expected to fill out a contract with TW911 for a 5 day trial period before taking the dog home. I stated that I expected to receive the missing rabies document as well as the rest of the dog's paperwork at the time of signing the contract. I was again told, "no" and that providing paperwork to the potential adoptive pet parents took and "enormous effort". Apparently, emailing with attachments qualifies as "enormous effort". I requested that I read and review the contract prior to coming to pick up the dog. The owner did not respond to my request, but passed it off to the foster mother to deal with. The foster mother told me she could take a picture of the contract and text it to me. I said I would prefer to pick up the contract (paper copy) from her directly and read and review it myself in the privacy of my own home so that I would have the opportunity to digest and write down any questions I may have. The foster mother said that this was not the procedure of TW911. I responded by asking if it was the procedure of TW911 to take a picture of the contract and send it via text. She said no it was not and that she made a mistake in offering to do that in the first place. She assured me that she would be able to address any questions I may have about the contract, but considering she didn't know the name of the dog's vet and didn't know much at all about the dog's medical background, I had no confidence whatsoever that she would be able to successfully field any questions I had regarding a contract. In the end, I decided to stop with adopting the dog. The owner was rude, unprofessional, and there was no transparency. They wouldn't provide me with the rabies vaccine certificate. They would not let me see the contract in advance. I will not deal with people that quite frankly, I do not trust. Bottom line is that I am the customer/client. I am taking the responsibility for the dog and its well being into my home. I would strongly advise anyone adopting a pet from TW911. read more

I adopted a 6 y/o boxer mix of some sort probably some Pittie in her too from this rescue. I cannot say enough good things about this rescue and my experience. I feel like these people genuinely care about these dogs. I'm still touch with my dogs foster mom who helped me through Anna's transition. Anna is my first dog and what a gem-she is such a great dog. Unfortunately, I do not feel like their mission is to find the perfect home for these dogs. It is my understanding that TW911 is volunteer run, and I do not think that the volunteers are educated. I think they are told what to think is good and what to think is bad. And that is that. They look for homes and families that check boxes on a sheet of paper. Living creatures are not black and white, and caring for them is more complex than just that. I do not support their methods, because I do not think they understand the compassion, commitment, and the complexity of truly finding the best home for a dog. Those representing Tailwaggers911 were very rude in every encounter I had through the application process. TW911 did not approve of the vetting practices we have with our current dog, even though we have followed the recommendation of our (trusted) veterinarian. I was told I am a bad pet owner, and that I am unreliable to my pet. I trust what my veterinarian has told me is in the best interest for my dog, and I will continue to do so. I know that my dog is happy and healthy, and I know my home would be a great place to bring another dog into. She just wont come from TW911. read more

I am curious why all the "good" reviews are not showing up on the ratings. Seems like someone has a vendetta against this group. I have adopted from them and fostered for them. Are they perfect, no, but I believe they are doing the best they can and making a difference in the world of dog rescue. And, I believe they truly are looking for the best fit for both the dog and the family, so could some of these bad reviews be from people that did not make the "cut"? Like anything else, do your own research and don't rely on YELP reviews. And like anything else make sure you read the fine print, and know what you are signing up for and what your responsibility will be if you decide to adopt or foster. Tailwaggers911 is an amazing organization! The volunteers work so hard, the fosters are wonderful and the owner is so loving. I am so happy with every interaction I have had with numerous people in the organization. It's clear how much they care. Countless lives have been saved because of them and so many lives here in Wisconsin have been blessed with a 4 legged friend because if them. They go to a high kill shelter in GA and save every dog possible. Each dog is vetted, temperament tested and met by the GA and WI team personally. They even try to save special needs or sick dogs and get them well. I really appreciate that we can watch the entire process of vetting and testing the dogs on Facebook. Attending a transport, where the saved dogs arrive in WI, is a very emotional experience. It's so amazing to see first hand each life Tailwaggers911 has saved. I love the foster to adopt program. It is really unique to this rescue. It gives the opportunity to really get to know the dog and be sure it's the right fit for my family before deciding to adopt. The application process was easy. It took a bit to hear back about my application, but I understand that they are volunteers who work in their spare time. I have tried to work with other rescues and many I never heard back from, or the wait time was weeks longer than Tailwaggers911. But, every person I have spoken to either on the phone, email or Facebook has been very kind. I also love that dogs are not placed in homes on a first come, first serve basis. Tailwaggers911 takes the time to consider the needs of each dog and match them with the appropriate family to ensure success. To me, this is so important, adopting a dog is a lifelong commitment. Their life. Many dogs have had unknown pasts, so Tailwaggers911 takes the time to make sure each dog lives the remainder of their life in a wonderful home never knowing abuse, neglect or hunger again. I would be happy to suggest Tailwaggers911 to any of my friends or family interested in adopting a new dog. I am a firm believer in adopt, don't shop. I adopted my dog from here in August and had an overall great experience. It took a couple weeks to get approved, so the original dog I applied for was gone, but that just led me to my current dog who I love so much. The foster family gave me a ton of information about her and was very friendly and helpful. I really like that the dogs go in foster homes so you get to learn about their personality. The 5 day trial period is also nice because they stressed that if it wasn't the right fit it is fine to send the dog back. Luckily mine was a good fit but it is nice to have that option. When everything was complete I was sent a folder with all of my dogs vet history, from both in GA and WI. She had heart worms and had paperwork showing that she was treated and tested negative. Overall for the fact that this is all volunteer run I am really happy with what they are able to do. This isn't a business where they are catering to people, the put the dog's interests first and I really value that. read more

My husband and I adopted our dog from Tailwaggers911 in October of 2016. The application process went smoothly (yes they requested a bunch of information) but the whole process took less than a week. Once we were approved, we found a dog we wanted right away. A few days later, we had our puppy. At 3-months old, he was already potty trained and the foster mom had taught him to ring a bell by the door when he needed to go out. It took a bit for someone to come and do the home inspection (maybe 3 weeks). Once that occurred, the adoption was finalized. Fast forward to now we love our dog and have absolutely no regrets that we found him through Tailwaggers911. I recommend them to anyone who's looking to adopt and if I were to adopt again, I'd go through them. read more

I have been fostering for tailwaggers911 for the last three years and this is a wonderful rescue. All the dogs that have been rescued have been temperament tested by the founder of the rescue and she does an excellent job selecting the dogs that have the sweetest souls and deserve a chance to be loved. I have personally foster 14 dogs for Tailwaggers and it is so rewarding to be part of this organization. The homes that these dogs have found are perfect. When people take the time to fill out the applications, wait patiently as the background checks are performed, the entire family visits the dog before making a decisions, you know they are people who are very serious about doing the best thing for the dogs. I have stayed in close contact with all of the adopters of the dogs I have fostered and I know they are all being loved dearly. I am so happy I can help these dogs and I can do this because of the work Tailwaggers 911 does every day. I am very proud to be part of this organization and would recommend them to everyone. My wife and I adopted a dog through them about 8 months ago. I felt they were fairly prompt in getting back to us after we put our application in. Of the 3 people we delt with during the adoption process, 2 were very pleasant and helpful. However, the third was the woman that runs the organization and I did not care for her. She was rude and pushy on the phone and had an air of arrogance in her tone while I was speaking with her. I think that what this organization does is fantastic but the head woman is very unpleasant to deal with and can make you want to go elsewhere for your adoption as she almost makes you feel like your a burden. read more

I have had a really great experience with Tailwaggers!! Dawn got back to my emails within a timely fashion every time. (I emailed her a lot with different questions and what not... She was never rude nor acted annoyed!) This is a volunteer run rescue and I think it is really amazing. If you are looking for a dog to adopt, definitely check into this place. I agree 100% with the other low ratings. They do not deserve one star! Dawn is the most rude and unprofessional representation of this business. I had to give my dog for adoption from GA to Tailwaggers 911, Grafton, WI. I was promised I would get updates of her via pics, texts, emails or videos. They painted such a good picture. Once she was in their custody, I read the bio they wrote which had many lies. For one, it said she was in a kill shelter and was scheduled to be put down in week if not adopted. My dog was NEVER put in a shelter. I completed the adoption paperwork, kept her with me and went directly from GA to WI. She never spent one night in any shelter. The first family they attempted to "home" her with was told she was 65lbs! I clearly put 95lbs on the paperwork. In another nasty email I received from Dawn she basically accused me of neglect and was glad my dog was removed from my home and I did not deserve to have her! Removed? Really? They accused me of not having her up to date on her shots and heartworm. When I told them she was current on everything and I would send them copies, she told me not to bother. I was also accused of giving her F rated dog food and now she is getting A rated food. I am not sure where she gets her ratings from but my dog was getting the highly rated Taste of The Wild, Salmon, all natural, grain free food. I surrendered her only because I felt I could not give her the high activity level she needs. I work long hours and while at work she would stay in a crate up to 10hrs a day. I was promised she would go to a home where she wouldn't need to be crated and be able to play outdoors. Joke. she is now in a crate at a minimum of 10hrs. From all my dealings with them I fully believe Dawn sees the dogs as dollar signs and nothing more. How sad!! Dawn has never shown any compassion, kindness, caring or customer service. I have only witnessed her rudeness, false accusations, unprofessionalism and lies. I pray that she does not treat the dogs in her care that way. Dawn needs to be removed from the Tailwaggers 911 name and organization. read more

They don't deserve any stars. I applied for a puppy over 14 days ago and I have yet to hear back on the approval of my application. They only contacted me, via e-mail, after I had attempted to reach them. I have called a few times to only get their voice mail, which sounds very unprofessional to begin with, and never have received a call back... another very unprofessional trait.  Now I see that the puppy I was interested in, is in pending action. On their website, it clearly shows that puppy wont be available until 01/09/2016 - I applied for him 2 weeks ago! How could another family already view the puppy and be in the adoption process if he isn't technically available until the 9th? And who takes over 2 weeks to "approve" an application for a family who is so yearning to bring a puppy into a loving home? Im not so much upset that the pup is already taken but more of the fact that this adoption company could care less in reaching out to families who WANT to adopt animals in need. This rescue insists on honesty but does not display any itself. It lists many of its dogs as being in danger of euthanisia at kill shelters, but when pressed, insists that they would never let the dogs be put down. This is manipulative and sad. Even worse, when an adopter actually is honest on the application, giving the reasons why their vaccinated animals are not vaccinated every year for the same thing they are already immune to, they are rejected. If you want to adopt from these people, you had better have your vet tell them you are "up-to-date" on vaccines and give heartworm meds, or don't let them know you've ever had a dog so there is no vet to contact. Be aware they do home checks. There seems to be no other way as forthright and pointed explanations and references to research mean nothing to them. It doesn't matter if you are a responsible pet owner and have healthy, happy dogs because the focus of this group is narrow and unyielding. Better to go to your local animal control where they are grateful you are willing to give a dog a home or to a breeder. read more
