The best dog park in Birmingham! We love coming here and all of the events that happen year round thanks to the City of Irondale.

Thanks to the City of Hoover for maintaining this facility…read more My Maltese dog LOVES coming to this park, and I love bringing him here! He uses the "little dog" area, much to his chagrin, since he *firmly believes* that 7 pounds of fur qualifies him to be a "big dog." Positives: The space has shade, grass, dirt, toys, some agility equipment, poop bags, and plenty of water to drink for the dogs--humans have to fend for themselves. There are benches and a few picnic tables in the space also. The people have always been friendly and usually clean up after their pets, so the area is fairly clean. We have never had problems with aggressive dogs or negligent owners at this park. In the common area there is a shallow creek with a sandy shore and he loves to go down there and splash around when there aren't soo many big dogs monopolizing it. There also are paved walking areas and a children's playground with a covered pavilion with picnic tables. Several port-a-potties are available, and there is plenty of parking. A great park all around! We only wish that more little dogs came to play here! The big dog section always has lots of dogs, but often we are the only ones on the little dog side.

Sometimes people think their dogs are okay and all it takes is seconds for something bad to happen. There is a really nice creek here as well that's not officially part of the dog park but is shallow enough for pups to play in it!

It reminds me of hanging out in someone's backyard, watching everyone's dogs play. They do a good job at offering events for your puppies and even sending you reminders when your vaccinations are expiring! Just make sure you have your vaccination records ready to present when you arrive. First, there's plenty to do for the pups. Offering a variety of obstacles and mini pools for them to cool down in is enough to keep them entertained for a couple of hours. Every time we've been there were lots of dogs, and they have always been super friendly (don't get me wrong, there's always a yapper or two but nothing too serious). If you're nervous about coming due to lots of other dogs, they have staff who is constantly roaming the play areas ensuring any aggressive behaviors get resolved immediately. If watching dogs be goofy isn't enough entertainment for you, they offer plenty of chairs to sit down and enjoy a beer or beverage of choice. Everything is in a can (make sure to use the nifty can cruncher onsite and recycle after) and there's a decent list of options to choose from. They also have a few tv's from every angle if you just can't miss the game.

He has enjoyed socializing with other dogs and owners as well. The area is divided into two sections, one for small dogs (less than 35 lbs) and one for big dogs (35+ lbs). Love the idea of a park just for our furry friends!…read more This was my 2nd trip here with my sweet Roxie, with this experience being much better than the last. Roxie was able to run and play, both solo and with the other puppies that were visiting that day. Our last trip here she was annoyed by an aggressive little puppy whose owners actually encouraged his rough play with my terrified little pooch. I guess that's what you have to deal with in dog parks. The small dog area is very grassy, and doesn't have too many areas where mud would be a problem. There are poop bags readily available and a water station for your thirsty pups. There are also benches and sitting areas for humans should you get tired out or just want to sit and watch your doggy socialize, run and play. Great atmosphere for your pooch!

We actually parked by the ball fields and walked the track to the bridge to get over to the playground. I thought the little bridges were cute. We saw a good amount of people using the basketball courts too. So happy to find this place!

This track was huge and sorta intimidating! 1 lap around = 1 mile. We managed to WALK 3 miles but it was a little bit of a challenge. Hopefully the next time I come here I'll be able to run and not just walk the track. By no means am I a runner but I am trying to challenge myself more with my workout regimen. The park was super crowded due to baseball games going on. There are several baseball fields along with soccer fields. This is a nice facility. Oh and there is a small and large dog park on site as well! I plan to bring my fur buddy to the dog park real soon. I'm sure he'll love it! There is adequate parking with ease to accessing the park. The park is located right off the main Hwy so it's really easy to find.

When we got it pulled up on the GPS, I was CONVINCED it was a mistake because we could not find it. We drove all around the block but could not see where it was, even though GPS said we were clearly there! We starting seeing a playground and open areas behind a bunch of houses, so we knew we were nearby. We drove around more and finalllllyyy found an entrance. It is hidden-- the entrance is on Kingsbury Ave. I've posted a picture so you'll know where to find it and what it looks like. There's also only street parking available. It was a Tuesday afternoon in May that we went, and it was so peaceful. The park is completely surrounded by houses (why it's so hard to find). There was only one other person there doing some running exercise. There's a playground, swings, track, picnic tables under some huge trees, and a good amount of open area. It was a hot day so we ate lunch under the trees, which kept us very cool. Then we played on the swings and playground as an attempt to relive our childhood memories! No bathroom or water fountain (maybe I missed that) that I saw. All in all-- a nice peaceful park. Maybe when school is out it might be busier, but I enjoyed myself!

We paid additional per day for daycare thinking our pup would at least get to play outdoor and won't be locked inside all the time but daycare meant all day outdoor so he came home with sunburn and limping because of blisters on his paws. We were not taken to see the outdoor area but certain they do have umbrellas. However, we don't know how crowded it was and if there were enough shady spots for all. All day outdoor in the summer was brutal. I suppose all is normal condition under boarding facilities so we will not be boarding ours again.

I'm sure there are kind people who work here, but we are very dissatisfied with our experience. We trusted this facility to properly monitor and care for our Australian Shepherd while we were away, paying around $50 per night plus tip. When we picked him up yesterday, we were told he had a hotspot and had been favoring one leg. At pickup, his foot was very red, but there was no visible blood. By the time we got him home, his foot was noticeably bleeding and the condition was worse than we were led to believe. This was not something that happened overnight and should have been attended to. Today we took him to the vet, where we learned that infection had already set in. The visit cost us an additional $150, and he is currently unable to put weight on his foot and will need at least a week to recover. We attempted to contact the facility through both the website and email and have yet to receive any response. While we understand mistakes can happen, this situation is not acceptable. I would encourage anyone looking for attentive care and communication to look elsewhere.
