Multiple times we arrived at 11:10 and the charge remained at $45 and this year they increased rate by $5,00 but the past 2 stays depending who is at front desk.,1st past visit I got there at 11:15 due to road construction. On picking up my dog I was told it would be an extra $50 with the explanation that a new policy is in place so for arriving at 11:10 I had to pay $100 vs $50. In the past multiple pickups if I was a few minutes late the person at the desk said will just charge the rate; sometimes $45 and this year $50., This most recent visit the gent owner was there alone on a Sunday I had called on my cell earlier at 10:50 and advised Nicole an employee at the desk that I am on my way but might be a few minutes late. She immediately stated, " we have a new policy on Sundays where you can pick up just on Sunday between 3-5" She went on to say you can leave your dog but pickup is 3-5 instead of 11. I thanked her for that info and she went on to say well Sunday only is in effect as the owners did that to give owners being a Sunday a bit more time. Never a single word on any extra charge. I arrived at exactly 5PM the gentleman said you're picking up your dog and I said yes. He pulled out the paper and then said it will be $100. I politely asked why $100 my dog was here one day. I originally asked Nicole for 2 days to pick up Monday but she checked out back with someone but we can only give you one night. I agreed. That being said I advised the gent that Nicole indicated the new Policy allowed to pick up the Dog between three and five only on Sunday. Immediately he went on the defensive about the price and I asked him would you please bring Nicole out here so we can discuss this as I was told the new Policy I could pick the dog up by five. There was no discussion about an extra charge. He went back he left. He came back a few minutes later and he said you owe 100. I said I was quoted. I could pick the dog up by five. It's two minutes of five. I'm not paying 100. I was quoted a new policy, allowed me to pick up the dog by five, which I am doing. He's did not bring Nicole out so we can get to the bottom of what she said to me 6 hours earlier. He is now calling me a liar which I will not accept and as an owner he became ill mannered and said "don't raise your voice to me" I want to speak with Nicole.,it fell on deaf ears. As I have heard in the past, if you don't pay, you're not going to get your dog I paid him $100.. then I asked for my dogs food and leash as he did not come out from out back with my dogs food or collar or leash. He also did not return with a little boy who was there. I decided this is about to escalate as his face turned to anger. He basically called me a liar and I only needed him to bring Nicole out to the counter so he can ask her in front of me: "What did you tell this gentleman" she would not lie I advised we will no longer use Derbyfield ever again for these inconsistent pricing discretions depending on who's on the front desk. I do not leave reviews but this owner or whoever he is deserves this negative review., certainly the only time as many times as I brought there the first time I ever saw him maybe he was a part-time employee work Sundays only I don't know. He certainly didn't remind me of an owner the way I was treated. That is not the end of this overnight stay., upon returning home with my Labrador my Labrador came in the house, didn't drink. One bowl drank two bowls of water and we've owned this dog for three years. She has never done that ever. This tells me that Dog had no water since 11 o'clock this morning additionally, our dog was walking outside around his play area, trying to go potty and she couldn't go she just was walking around with her back humped up. She finally did go, but it was like diarrhea, so that's another reason we would never nor would we ever recommend Derby Field kennel to anyone. I believe my dog was just in a small crate for four or five hours until I pick the dog up at 5 o'clock., we saved the stall and will bring it to our vet in the morning. There was clear directions on her big feeding container one and a half cups in the morning, one and a half cups in the evening absolutely no treats we will find out what was in her stomach to see this dog, stooping around, dragging her hind quarter trying to go potty for as long as she did tells me something may be wrong. We're going to find out.

When we got there, they took Lulu right away and then within 15 minutes we saw the vet. They had to keep her there for a few hours in order to fit her in their rotation of patients and they sent us home and they said that they will call us when she is ready. They called at 10:30 pm and we went to pick her up. Excellent service. The removal of stitches was a bit of a hassle. I call a few days later to set an appointment to remove the stitches and they said that I don't need an appointment, that I should just call when I am ready to come down with LuLu and they will let me know what time would be good. When I called on the 12th day, the phones were transferred to Bourne. They told me that the Dennis location is closed and only open on the weekends??? Why didn't they tell me that when I called to set an appointment. Even thou the stitches removal was included in the price I paid $1600, I ended up call my Vet Tech, that comes to my house to do my dogs nails, came over the next morning and removed them for me. Her name is Lianna Heard, Cape Cod Veterinary Technician Services. She is extremely careful and great with all three of my dogs. I highly recommend her for any home services for your pets.

As soon as we walked in the receptionist looked at him and said "oh looks like it may be an abscess" which is what we were thinking too. Granted he has some vet anxieties which we told them about, Dr. Lee did not examine our dog at all and did not even weigh him. He poked the swollen part of his face with a pen like object and said since it's hard, it's a tumor. He wrote down three possible tumors on a piece of paper, said "I'm sorry to tell you this" several times, and said an X-ray would be 2k and surgery would be 10k, but would be risky due to placement and his age. We left with antibiotics and pain meds. We took our dog to Angell Memorial in Boston the next morning. After extensive testing and examinations, they confirmed it was an ABSCESS, not a tumor and drained it, and also drained all the fluid from his neck. They also nicely informed us the antibiotic Dr. Lee prescribed was nowhere near enough for my dog's weight. Makes sense since they didn't even weigh him. See below post from another lady who was also told her dog had CANCER when it was just an asbcess. It's awful to tell patients their dog has cancer, without any extensive testing, and to make them worry all night long that their dog is going to die. I'll never bring my animals back to this location. I'd also like to add the sheet of paper he gave us where he listed the three cancers it probably was.

I originally went there to have my dog neutered but was told he had to have an exam first . So sadly I missed my appointments .Finally on the fourth attempt I was an hour late and a very nice woman vet saw me . As we were done she said the estimate for the surgery would be emailed to me . I left the appointment and was sitting back in my car and there was this voicemail from Kristen who told me they didn't want me as a customer. Prior to that a paid $90 for a missed appointment my punishment. I messaged this lady back and said I just finished seeing the vet and she told me to wait for an email for the surgery. I tried explaining to her why I was late mainly stemming from a brain tumor which totally turned my world upside down so she I guess felt bad but them she had another opportunity. I eventually got the estimate for his surgery of $1300 maybe 1400 . I couldn't believe it most neutering I knew went from about $500 to 800 . So I think Kristin took that as an opportunity to get rid of me !! Oh well . They need a lot of help in compassionate understanding , pricing and animal care .

I have used this groomer for my cat twice. The first review was a glowing account of a very nice…read morelady who did a good and thorough job with a skittish cat. I wish I could say the same for the last visit, but, unfortunately, I cannot.I will preface this review with my heartfelt uncomfortable regret for having to post a bad review. It's not my style; it's not something I do often or like to do. It upsets me to my core. That being said and with tears in my eyes, let's proceed. I will admit, it was nearly a month after the grooming that I contacted Alison to complain and ask her to fix it. My query was honest but not mean. The delay in contacting her was due to my being ill, and my not knowing what to say to her without hurting her feelings. Well...I've got to tell you I was shocked and appalled by her highly emotional, negative response which continued on as a barrage of nasty texts without my responding to most of it. What she said to me, how she said it and with vehement attitude was so far from any drop of professionalism or good customer service. She reported to me after both groomings that although my cat was skittish, once she started brushing her she calmed down and was a "total sweetheart", "no problem at all". I was happy with the first bathing, sanitary cut and brushout. The second time she went from wrapped in a towel and ran into the bedroom closet! I paid over $100 for what turned out to be a hack job of a grooming. She cut the center of her lower mane off and it just looks weird now. She was supposed to shave down her underside and butt completely. It's all uneven and looks ratty. The rest of her beautiful silky, shiny coat is now dull and when I brush her there are tons of loose clumps of fur that fly all over the place! Her fur is uneven on both sides, there are places that look chopped and she cut around the base of her tail...for what reason?? Not all of her claws were clipped, either! Looks ridiculous! Every time I look at my Tatum I get upset. I finally had to say something! Then she had the audacity to tell me my cat should be drugged. Not once, several times. I don't think it's the cat that needs to be medicated. For the record I sprayed her towel and her carrier with Feliway 10 minutes before she took her to the van. So, she was "drugged" but in a natural way. How dare she tell me to drug my cat!! She outright refused to do anything at all to Tatum or a partial refund or credit and chose to sever our relationship instead. Is this good business sense? I truly think she knew she had done an awful job and was trying to blame me for her lack of grooming knowledge with cats. The old Shakespeare quote, "Me thinks thou doth protest too much" very much applies here. So, I no longer can recommend this groomer in any capacity. She is not to be trusted as she is emotionally volatile, unprofessional and just not nice. Please do yourself a favor and find another groomer. I did!
