Bad day I called every boat repair shop and mobile boat mechanic I could find but everyone was either not answering, or busy and booked solid for at least three weeks... and frankly most of the folks I spoke with at other shops were rude. My friends and family were just sitting at the house waiting for me to arrive with my boat to take them out for a weekend on the lake. I thought I was destined to rent a boat and store mine on the trailer for the weekend. Was losing hope... I was at the point of asking random people at the marina if they could help me get an impeller and put iit in. Then randomly, I met Patrick Kelly, owner of South Shore Boats, who happened to be dropping his boat in at the same marina. I asked him if he could help us and he asked me to drive my boat to his shop and he'd meet me there. About an hour later, he and his staff had me up and running again. My friends and family are forever grateful for Patrick and his kind spirit. He could have been just like all the other shop owners and blown me off, but he didn't. I called the Geico (US BOAT) insurance company for a tow and sat on hold for an hour - there I was drifting toward the rock cliffs - getting closer and closer - too deep to drop anchor, I was getting pretty nervous. (Oh! Geico Boat Insurance AIN'T Geico Auto - different culture - different everything - don't fall for it!) I called Captain John (Owner of The Lake Tahoe Boat Co.) - he answered his cell immediately and told me to drop anchor anyway to slow my drift toward the rocks. "I'll come and tow you in right now if you can't reach US Boat!" Well, Geico never answered so I called the number for emergency boat towing in the Tahoe keys and they came & towed me in. Here's a guy (Capt. John) who owns & operates several businesses - like all businesses, suffering labor shortages, and he personally offers to drive to the keys - get in his boat - and tow me home.... Our CV axle broke while we were on vacation in Lake Tahoe -- right after a massive snowstorm buried…read morethe entire region. Not exactly ideal timing when you're traveling with your family. I reached out to several mobile mechanics through Yelp on Thursday evening, and Jim was the only one who responded initially. He was able to schedule us for Saturday afternoon, which was critical since we were supposed to head home that day. Another shop didn't have availability until Monday and the other high rated mobile mechanic was out of town. Because of storm-related commute issues earlier in the week, Jim ended up arriving around 4pm instead of noon. Totally understandable given the conditions. He worked outside in freezing weather and never complained once. Jim was incredibly friendly and easy to talk to. He was great with my wife, my son, and even let our dogs jump on him and give him kisses. Despite the tough conditions, he got the job done and got us safely back on the road with a solid new CV axle so we could make it home as planned. I'd hire Jim again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.

My cars battery was faiing and alarm randomy kept going on and off…read more I first took my car to the auto shop that has worked on my cars in the past. After 4 days in their shop, they called and said they replaced the battery but could not stop the alarm from going off and on. I asked them if they could just pull it out and they stated it was to complex so I picked it up and brought it home. I reached out to The Mobil Mechanic and he said he could fix it. He came out a few days later. He started working on my car soon after he got here. He was very polite and knowledgeable . He was showing me different things as he was discovering problems with codes. Why I can't give him 5 starts is that he spent 2 hours on the car and said he finally fixed it then he said the aftermarket alarms are not very good and I would most likely have problems pop up again in the future. He said I would just take out the Alarm. I told him go ahead if that what he recomended however, Why didn't he tell me that earlier? Why work on a car to fix a problem then after it is fixed tell me I should have it taken out. Also if you hire him you might want to ask him what the hourly rate is before he starts. I was shocked and I guess shame on me for not asking him before hand.
