They have done an impressive job on the remodel updating it with a bright and clean interior tastefully decorated and well equipped. Two large screen TV's play Bollywood music videos and sporting events. When you enter there is a small kebab shop and takeaway, and you enter through the second set of doors to the dining room. The food is amazing! A dazzling array of choices and some special items. We ordered Karahi Fish, Karahi Methi Gosht, Tarka Daal and a whole tandoori chicken. This was more than enough food for four and we were all very happy to try so many tasty items. First the fish was perfectly prepared and delicately spiced. It had a great texture and wasn't "swimming" in sauce. The lamb curry was ordered spicy and the chef actually came to ask us how spicy we actually wanted it, so we explained EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA hot.. he laughed and asked if we were sure and we said we were. He delivered! It was a spicy inferno without being overpowering. The daal was very nice but the highlight was the Tandoori chicken.. it was the most flavorful one we had tried in a long time and came out perfectly moist and juicy and oozing with flavour, and at 7 quid it was quite a deal as well. We also noted on the menu the chefs special.. a WHOLE LEG OF LAMB! We vowed a night of hedonism and drinking accompanied by a lamb feast. We followed through the following week and we were rewarded for our determination with a stunning piece of culinary magic. The leg of lamb was so tender and flavourful that we decided to make it a monthly ritual.. but be forewarned you have to order it 24 hours in advance.. so think ahead! The Lahore Masala House is a welcome addition to the Kentish Town landscape.. they have great lunch deals and they also stay up late for those leaving the locals or the Forum.

When we arrived, the staff recognized my daughter immediately and were very nice to us. The place wasn't too busy yet. As we enjoyed our dinner, the restaurant became pretty packed with patrons and a lot of take out orders. We enjoyed some great Indian/Pakistani ("Authentic Punjabi Cuisine") food including their signature dish of lamb shank in a delicious sauce, tikka masala, vegetable curry, veggie biriyani rice and some very fresh and flavorful garlic naan. I loved all of the food and tasted each dish. The lamb shank and the sublime garlic naan were my favorites. Good flavor and freshly prepared. During our meal, I had a view of the man in a corner of the open kitchen who was nonstop making naan. He was meticulous and seemed to be a happy soul. I believe I would enjoy having some drinks with him (if he drinks). That reminds me that they don't sell alcohol at Dar's but encourage you to bring your own. I saw many other patrons bringing in their own wine bottles and the Dar staff would chill the wine and even pour it for the customers. Haven't seen that setup before. Give these guys a try when in the Hampstead area.

As a newer resident of…read morethe area, I've been looking for those handful of restaurants I can rely on for friendly service, good food quality and variety, available seating and hours, and that's worth the money-- Dar's checks all my requirements! It's a lovely spot that's family owned and been around for a while, with a menu combining Indian, Punjabi, and Pakistani food and more. There's a variety of vegetarian and vegan options available, and some unique house specialty dishes (my dad enjoyed a spicy lamb curry on the bone house special dish!). I've ordered some paneer, vegetable, and seafood dishes and have enjoyed everything I've tried, and the garlic naan is a must. I'm a fan of the hot chai tea (although for the price I would appreciate a free refill or bigger serving please!) and they have a bring in your own alcohol type of policy. Every guest I've brought here, from my parents to my boyfriend, have enjoyed this place, their food and their overall experience. The staff is attentive and friendly, and the restaurant always has space available for dining in and is popular for takeout/delivery orders.
