We were told that this first lesson would be free of charge. However, we noticed that our credit card was charged a total of $182.95 on October 18th, including the cost of the uniform, registration fee, and the full lesson fee for October, which was $99.75. On November 8th, during her second 30-minute lesson, our daughter told us, after the 5th minute, that she didn't want to continue and began crying. We had to leave the class. Unfortunately, she no longer wants to continue with Taekwondo, and we didn't want to force her. Therefore, we informed Master Kim on November 11th that our daughter would not be continuing, and on November 15th, I requested that no further charges be made to our card. Unfortunately, despite our request, on November 13th, the full fee for November was charged to our credit card. So, for a total of 30 minutes of class, we ended up paying around $282. Master Kim was of no help in this situation. We initially signed her up for this activity thinking it would be beneficial for her development, but it turned out to be the most expensive Taekwondo uniform we have ever bought. He pushes us. He keeps it fun. We progress. He blends martial arts discipline with a western style so the kids get a sense of the demands but they can handle it. He expects discipline in all aspects of the kids' (and adults') and they respond. If a kid is ready to test but has been missing homework or not doing chores, that kid will not test. We love it and will continue for years to come.

Most of the gyms I called were very stand-offish and told me I should do some googling and then call them back if I had any questions. When I called Elite Taekwondo I ended up getting the Master on the phone. He was so patient and kind. Even though I asked a million "stupid" questions he answered every one of them. At the end of the call he invited us to come try out a class. My son was extremely awkward and shy. I had no idea what to expect. When we got to the gym we climbed the stairs with a lot of trepidation. What we encountered was a family. There were children and teens, moms and dads, young single adults and even grandparents. My son went into the class scared and came out so excited! The teacher was funny and made the warmups challenging but also doable for every level. When it came to learning taekwondo they gave the information in bite sized pieces that made my son beg to go back! My daughter who was very into sports and in really good shape had no intention of trying any martial art. But, after my son wouldn't stop talking about it, she decided to give it a try too. She could not believe how hard she was able to push herself. Next, some of the moms begged me to try it out with them. As someone who has been out of shape my whole adult life I did NOT want to even step foot on the mat. But when I did, I couldn't get enough. Before every class I would dread the hard work ahead, and by the end of class I couldn't believe how far I had come. Our entire family eventually ended up joining and we have never had as much fun, nor have we ever been as close as we were while training together. I never worry about my children out on their own now. I have seen my little girl throw a big burly man to the mats. I see the confidence they have and I know they can take care of themselves if they need to. If you ever wonder, the answer is yes, you should join a martial art. And yes, Elite Taekwondo is the best one to join.

I have already started to build rapport with some people, and this was a nice surprise. With this said, the group can tend to get kind of cliquey. This is expected in any community, so I don't take any offense. As a timid guy, breaking the ice can be challenging at first. I'll just trust i need to give it some time. The facility seems like it does the job fine. i haven't noticed anything vital to the facility that is missing. It is not the biggest or fanciest looking facility, but it shouldn't affect the class. One major thing i would like to see, is increasing the length of the class. I can sometimes leave the class feeling like i could be doing more drilling. My favourite class was my one on one work, because i was able to spend a lot of time perfecting something i had just learned. Even during this class, I wanted to stay longer. Conditioning sucked...

Even when I retired, it has always been in my heart - I can still recall my self-defense, some of my poomsae's, step defense, board/brick breaking, life lessons & the cherished relationships I've made. I must stress the importance of my training as I unfortunately in my life found myself in a very scary violent domestic violence relationship. I truly do feel that my taekwondo training possibly saved my life, I believe in multiple situations I found myself in - it detoured him from the volatile confrontation turning into a very real scary physical one from happening.
