With its insurance based, ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), and Board Certified Behavior Analyst guided programming, the rapid progress it's clients make, is nothing short of miraculous. I should know, my own child is a client there. In the six months that my son has been a client of ABC, I have seen an incredible change in his behavior, his speech, and his social skills. I feel like his 1:1 or behavioral technician, was handpicked or selected especially for him. She's friendly, patient, and knows my son better than anyone else. The same goes for the other technicians at ABC. They are kind, friendly, and well-trained. But the best part of all, is their Saturday social groups. Their age appropriate 8:30-4:30 programming, covers everything from morning meeting, arts n' crafts, outings, play based therapies, and social skills training. My son loves going to ABC every Saturday to "see friends" and to have an exciting and fun filled day. Thank you George Torbay (owner). Thank you for changing our lives. We couldn't have done it without you and your incredible staff. - Jill Ricardo (parent)

I will say their food regiment is top notch, I gained 20lbs from being allowed to eat all sorts of good food. My only gripe is that these guys embody the phrase "land of the free, home of the brave". Your free to go here, but good luck not being milked into a prolonged stay. COVID restrictions make family rescuing you very difficult. The human rights officer thankfully was my only saving grace and ironically was the only legally obligatory role at a mental institution (their words, not mine). The whole experience felt like it was crafted to feed into psychosis, at one point 2 "employees" walked together and one came toward the patient area after mentioning a drug's name (basically curated to make patients think they were in a controlled setting) -- the admission for her being 99% not ordinary compared to other patients. The other patients there for adults seemed rather nice despite varying levels of social disorders/disconnect. During my stay I literally felt that I was growing as a person despite the mentally taxing circumstances. The oddest thing was my mental circumstances being such that I could do things that under normal circumstances I physically would never be able to do. If you go in with psychosis, you will definitely go to the extreme of thinking that you are special and then be brought back to earth to behave like a normal person solely to be discharged. If you go in thinking that paranormal activity is a hoax, you will definitely leave believing that paranormal things have happened to you. Overall I actually wish I could go back to confirm things. Their staff (mental health technicians) are all very good in different ways, thus the good rating. Their drawback is the questionable methods used to keep people there for prolonged times (I was literally coerced into taking a new drug as a condition of discharge --the drug proceeded to make me unable to function normally and I had to emotionally breakdown into tears to make myself able to sit down and fill out discharge paperwork, the drug then proceeded to give me blurred vision when I failed to remember to go to the Pharmacy to get meds that would have fought the side effects... I was subsequently brought to another mental health establishment because I was too restless to sleep).

They threatened my 7 year old with a needle and told him that his parents said that they could use one if needed, when we did NOT and would never agree to that. They messed up his medication twice, and gave him other medication to calm him which again was NOT approved by his parents first. There was no communication about what was going on during the entire time my son was at this hospital, and it took two months to get records sent to us once he was discharged.

I recently brought my newly diagnosed son to CARD in Woburn. My son is 2 years, 11 months old…read more Within the first fifteen minutes of our meeting, I was told that my son would need 40 hours a week of ABA and that he should skip preschool and do ABA only. I was told he should do this for three years and then enter kindergarten a year late, at age six. There are a few incidents that I feel upset about. I was told that my son was "the worst ever" seen when it came to changing his diaper. He did cry and try to turn over but I imagine at a center for autism, that there might have been more challenging behaviors observed. Also, the BCBA who was working with my son made comments on how he was one of the worst in not following a direction and using his words. The BCBA grabbed a toy truck from my son and my son said, "Let it go." She gave it back and said that was an appropriate response and then grabbed it from him again. My son lost it and tried to pull it away from her and cried for probably 2 minutes until we asked her to redirect his attention to something else. I was told then that this was "one of the worst she seen" as far as his ability to hold out for something. Finally, the BCBA asked whom my son was close to in the family and I told her that is my father (who has been taking care of my son, while my husband and I work.) She made a comment that, "Oh, it is usually the mother." I felt these incidents show a lack of empathy and care. This experience felt like a sales pitch. I felt like I was being told how awful my son was so I would need to sign up for 40 hours (which was not recommended on his IEP or from his doctor.) I don't feel such a strong recommendation should be made within meeting my child for 15 minutes. . Fortunately, my son has started preschool and is being praised for what he can do while working on his needs. I do not doubt the need and wonderful things ABA does or that 40 hours might be the appropriate thing for my child or another, it was just the method in which this BCBA went about it. I am currently waiting for home services through another agency. There also might be more kind BCBA's at CARD but it felt like I would get the push for 40 hours no matter what my son did. Which by the way, my son is awesome, loveable, and kind and didn't deserve any of these things said about him.

There have been many examples over the years when various symptoms have been relieved with Active Healing's methods. Most recently I was diagnosed with Asthma and prescribed a steroid maintenance inhaler for difficulty breathing and a persistent cough. My lung capacity was at 64%. After I saw Sarge and he put me on the PEMF mat, whole body vibration with oxygen, and suggested breathing exercises to do at home, I no longer required the steroid inhaler and my lung capacity jumped to 82%! BEWARE DONT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL…read more So what does this hospital do I'll tell you cause I was there! When I first arrived at this hospital I was introduced to Dr.D I don't know his name cause it's to hard to pronounce. I went in and he did his evaluation on me then after that he asked me some question and I answered it and he just assumed I was lying he gave me a look with hi eyes wide open and said are you lying to me? I then said no why would I? Then I was put into a room with 2 other people another guy and girl, the girl went up right away and then I went into another room and did intake then sent back to the same room, the guy was then taking upstairs and I was in the room by myself I was questioned about some things and asked again are you lying? I then proceeded to start crying because first I was scared, nervous. I then was taken upstairs I was approached or spoken to not face to face but by intercom, wtf ! So then they the dr and nurse started questioning everything and I mean everything and then proceeded to be asked are you LYING? Wtf, for the duration of the time I was tormented being told I don't know how to shower, I don't know how to wipe my ass don't know how to brush my teeth but not face to face over the camera that was in not only the room but also in the bathroom but, it's probably taken out by now. Then every night I was then tormented by these people coming in the hall asking if there is some and so a patient here? Every night I went through this as well as when I got my night meds something was not right cause i never had any type of nightmares but I was there and started having nightmares. Then not only were they asking if I was there but they went by my maiden name as well as my first married name. I was being scared every day every night I was told to do things and I'm asking why am I doing this but they kept returning "WE ARE TRYING TO HELP YOU" by scaring me by telling me idont know how to wipe my ass don't know how to do anything. Then I had diarhea I was then told are you kidding me she did this in my bathroom, then also every night I mean every night this bitch would scream "I WANT HER OUT OF MY HOSPITAL" he the dr says i cant do that not only was my life at that time was a living hell when I was a patient, I will never never forget my stay there so if I were you looking into a hospital for yourself or a loved don't go to this hospital!!!!
