My son is 18 and unable to make critical decisions for himself but because of his age they wouldn't talk to me about his "state" or "treatment plans". He signed a waiver to allow them the consult with me/his mother but not one Doctor or psychiatrist called me. I spoke with a clinician several times but was only given vague and cryptic information about my son who is not able to advocate for himself. Someone punched him after they tried to start s***t with him several times, he was not in any condition to deal with that maturely or responsibly. I was never able to find out the truth of what happened. He was changed to a different floor without anyone letting me know. I panicked when I couldn't reach him. What we went through as his family was pure trauma!! I need therapy from having to go through the nightmare of this place. I need to figure out how to get him out of there and FAST!! They are making his conditions much much worse!! This place is the stuff horror films are made out of! If your loved one is in there GET THEM OUT!!!

HBM has inpatient and outpatient programs, both of which are good, but please take negative reviews…read moreof HBM with a grain of salt as most are commenting on the inpatient program only and as people are often sent to inpatient when they don't want to go so it can feel like a loss of freedom, when really it's about taking all responsibilities away so you can focus on yourself. The building facilities are new and clean, the cafeteria could be better but isn't terrible. Everything else aside the staff is great and they really care, as rough as it is to be inpatient and as frustrating as it is to be there day after day I felt like the staff really cared and made an effort. Most times other patients were upset it was due to the necessary rules of the place. The staff are openly supportive of each other, waving to each other or giving each other a supportive hug when they come back to work after being away; that shows a real team who really cares. Whatever might be said about the inpatient experience, their outpatient program is where they really shine; excellent clinicians, a safe and supportive place for group, and an environment that seeks to help and prepare you to return to your life. They have patience beyond the limits of most and their women's trauma program is superb. Group includes process, skills practice, expressive therapy, yoga, support dog visits, as well as a coffee bar, breakfast and lunch provided as well as transportation to HBM and home for any patient who needs it. Having done inpatient and outpatient I felt safe, truly seen, and cared for in my weeks there.

It did not even ring, and the call failed, twice. I have to conclude that Cedar Hill does not actually exist, or else they don't actually exist for people without insurance. Yes, the form asked if I have insurance, and I stated that I do not. HOWEVER, IT DID NOT ASK ME IF I HAD THE MEANS TO PAY THEM! The truth is I have a very healthy bank account, well into the millions. I can and would pay them in cash, however, since their phone does not seem to work, I have to assume that Cedar Hill either does not actually exist, or else they are colossally stupid. I have the means to pay out of pocket, but would not work with an outfit that rules out people without insurance. Not all employers provide mental health insurance, but some customers have bank accounts that eliminate the need for it! Any organization that rules me out for not having insurance, and which refuses even to hear the compensatory details is not my kind of organization. Since I cannot even speak to Cedar Hill, I have to conclude it is a crap organization, not worth my time.
