I've been wanting to stop by one of these stands, they are all over the city and always see lots of people eating there. So this morning I was by myself and was going to pick up a quick coffee when I saw this stand that happened to have parking!! I thought this is my chance these 2 scenarios are next to impossible in TJ so I figured it was destiny lol.
I walk up to the stand and see something I've never seen before a few salsa trays as usual but a bunch of pots with lids on the counter... took me a while to read the menu and figure out what's going on a good 3 minutes to watch the taco girl serve and I was trying to keep up with what's going on. Long story short they have about 10-13 different dishes, that's what all the pots are. You ask for your choice of dish, and taco lady asks with everything?, I quickly said yes then I asked wait... what do u mean everything? She said beans and rice? Hmmm really? I said oh no just my chicharrón... idk I mean chicharrón was good but I didn't care much for this style of tacos. I mean they don't taste bad they were ok I don't think I'd stop by again I'll stick to my tradicional exceptionally delicious tijuana street tacos which are one of a kind.
These stands to have a vast variety of tacos which is why the name of "Various Tacos" but they are just not for me. They do have lots of different dishes such as, chicharrón, bistek, chile relleno, milanesa, pescado, huevo, pollo frito (? Yeah I thought that was weird getting a fried chicken leg on a tortilla), and many other dishes I can't remember.
I didn't care for them but hey they are very popular in the city. I would not stop by again. read more
