I knew that the dog was a puppy so they didn't meet the service dog requirements. I then asked them if they would take them outside as they aren't allowed in food establishments and they were compliant without any disgruntled attitudes. After getting my order I asked to speak to the manager and a gentleman came over and identified himself as the General Manager. I explained the situation with the couple and their dog (puppy) and I told him that I asked them if they knew it's against the law to have animals in a food establishment unless it was a service animal and I asked them to take the animal outside. I suggested that they train the staff to address this situation so customers didn't have to. He than stated that they aren't allowed to ask any questions regarding an animal inside their food establishment. I feel that the General Manager, was indicating that he was knowledgeable about animals in food establishments and that he too had a service animal himself and that the establishment didn't have an obligation to protect customers from animals that are not service animals. As a General Manager he should have known the information that's below and should've addressed the issue instead of a customer. As stated before I'm a frequent customer and as of this evening I will no longer be a customer due to the way the General Manager dismissed my concerns of non service animals in their food establishment. Are animals allowed in food establishments : Generally, live animals are prohibited inside food establishments by health codes, with specific exceptions for trained service animals.
