What's nice is that similar to some taco stands, they give a lot of fixings like jalapeño pepper, grilled green onions, and radish, along with lime, onion, and cilantro, as well as avocado sauce. Tacos themselves are just average with an acceptable amount of meat, decently priced at $1.75 per taco. I've tried a good handful of Nolensville Pike taco trucks and Tacos Lopez does not disappoint. We ordered 7 tacos -- barbacoa, pollo, carnitas, chorizo, and pastor. Food came out quickly with red and green sauce on the side. We ordered it to go and I will say the shells were a little soggy by the time we got home, but partially that was our fault for taking them to go. I think we could have gotten two more, as they are pretty small, but they pack a flavor punch and for $11 or so for two people, it's a great lunch option. Tacos come with grilled onions, raw onions and cilantro, and radishes, as well as the two sauces that have some good heat and flavor. Compared to some other taco trucks in the area, I thought the fillings were more juicy and flavorful, which is why I'm giving Lopez 5 stars. read more

I've been eating at this taco truck for over 15 years.... and here is what you order when you come to Lopez. Spicy pork tacos, ceviche, rice and beans, and Horchata. These are the best menu items and DANG do they do them good. I'm too chicken to try some of the bolder flavors of tacos (aka tripe) but hands down, these are the best spicy pork tacos in all of Nashville. I don't know what they do to that meat but it is amazing. I also like this taco truck because their tacos are unique, and come with sliced cucumbers, grilled onions and radishes on the side, in addition to 2 homemade hot sauces. Pre-Covid, you could drive up and wait in your car, and the waitress would take your order and then deliver it to you as well. I went there during quarantine and no one came up to my car so I left. I'm not sure what the protocol is for ordering now. I love Lopez and it is one of my favorite taco trucks ever! read more

Taste calibration: When I crave Mexican food I choose a taco truck on or near Nolensville Pike over almost all sit-down Mexican restaurants (especially Las Palmas). I'm talking any taco truck. I'm talking sight unseen. Their flavor, presentation, accoutrements, all take me back to my home town of El Paso, TX, and the across-the-border town of Juarez, Mexico. This place has been around for years but is so inconspicuous it's easy to miss. I have been here dozens of times over the years, and would have even more if I didn't have the urge to try new places all the time. There are a small handful of taco trucks that I have not tried yet but among the dozens I have this is one of my all time favorites. The flavor is authentic, the price is decent (middle of the road among taco trucks), the hours are long, the servers hustle. Even though it is a taco truck it is pretty much a permanent fixture, and the ways to get food are: 1. Pull into a parking space and a server comes to you like a car hop for your order and with your food. 2. Sit at the picnic table and the server comes to you like a picnic table hop for your order and with your food. 3. Sit in the small building that the truck is parked in front of (sounds weird to end this sentence fragment with a preposition but I'm drunk on tortas and tacos so I can't fix it) and act like you are in a regular sit-down restaurant with table service. If this one leaves it's not the end of the world because there are other very good taco trucks (most of them). But I would be sad because this one has been there for me consistently and always takes me back home. read more

I am a self proclaimed authentic taco hunter and am willing to eat any place, be it white table cloth or standing at a food truck as long as the tacos are authentic and well prepared. That being said Tacos Lopez serves two excellent tacos that the only ones I order. First the Carne Asada (steak) and the Tripa (tripe). The tripe is no for the faint of heart but if you order it crispy it is as good or Bette than most I have eaten in Mexico. This place was good. I really hate the parking here but I was glad that it wasn't busy when we went. I had the tamales and a taco. The tamales are really good (I only tried the green chicken but they have red ones with pork). The taco was good but the meat had too much fat pieces. I liked that they made the bottom tortilla a little crispy. The salsas were good and the horchata water was very good. My boyfriend had the shrimp burrito and he said it was very good. I have never had food made me lose my appetite. This surprised me. Ordered 4 chicken tacos, 4 pastor (spicy pork) and a chicken quesadilla meal. All the tortillas were super soggy. On a couple of the non-soggy sides, they were actually way too chewy/crunchy. I could only finish half the tacos as I lost my appetite, where I ALWAYS finish my food, especially Mexican food. I found 3 chicken bones, without finishing the food of course. I tried using my own tortillas and throwing out the soggy ones, but the meat was just so bland. I then tried using my own leftover rice and beans with just the meat, and found I couldn't handle it that way either. The meat almost tasted boiled. Ended up really enjoying my leftover rice and beans from the night before. They never tasted so good. I would not recommend going to this taco truck until they take a look at their flavor and quality ingredients. Please go to any other truck up Nolensville, as you will regret this one. They were open that alone earns them a positive review. It was three of us and here's the run down. Chicken Quesadilla (plain) - abundantly of chicken & super cheesy.
