Quite the fun little find on a sunny Thursday afternoon outside Lake time brewery!…read more The folks running this little gem were very nice and are cooking up some delicious stuff. A couple of us sampled the Messy Lex (a delightful mix of brisket and sausage, swimming in slaw) with a side of cheeseballs. The ML was lovely, the plenty of meat that was flavorful, smokey and done up right. At $7 it's about as much I want to pay for such a sandwich, but was worth it to get to eat it out on the patio! The cheeseballs were good as well, but at $7 for these, when they came out of a bag...that starts to push it a little. I do love cheese though, so it was probably worth it! Lovely spot to grab some grub outside the brewery when they grace the curb with their presence!

Wow, what a find, and all thanks to Yelp!…read more A few blocks east of Duff Road on the south side of Lincoln Way, Rico's Tacos is a wonderful combination of customer service, personality, and a quality food product. We visit Ames frequently for family and were comparing taco trucks on Yelp before making our initial trip to Rico's. Manny was working the truck and is a good guy who knows his product. He guided me to their burrito, which was amazing. The tortilla did not fall apart, and its contents were spectacular, merging asada beef with scrambled eggs and other items to yield a great meal. I loved both of their sauces, with the red-hot red narrowly defeating the tasty green salsa! There is a lot of parking in this location, and the truck's staff makes it a positive experience due to their interaction and people skills. A taco truck isn't supposed to be an elegant experience! Thanks to customer Jessie, who visited as I was ordering and used Rico's for her wedding catering, giving me keen insight to their food!

The owner of the truck was polite and the wait wasn't long. Less than ten minutes. I didn't care for the redder sauce. The green was magical. A pseudo guacamole. Basically an avocado puree with jalapeño juice. It's magical and a perfect compliment to the tacos. The owner is working out of the truck while working on an adjacent building he hopes to open as a restaurant. And the food sure beats the Subway across the street. Lol Right now this town of 3,500 people has no shortage of Mexican food. At least one truck, a trailer, at least four or five restaurants, and an ice cream shop all serving Mexican food. There's also a Family Table and Rails for casual American food. If you're traveling highway 17 and pass through Eagle Grove I'd definitely recommend swinging in and checking out La Aventura!

My family is big cookie fans and their food truck (actually a converted small camper) is really cute and eye catching.
