Just moved here from California, my husband and I had been searching for an authentic Mexican food place and I can say with confidence that we've found our place. The service was fast and the ladies taking care of the customers were super sweet. I definitely recommend this place to anyone searching for some good Birria tacos ! My personal favorite of their meat options. Due to the COVID outbreak they are requesting for guest to wear a mask if they are dinning in. (Just an FYI)

So many options!!!!

Authentic. If there is anything else you get from this review, it is that this is authentic mexican food. It is beyond delicious. I got a burrito and taco order and it came with beans topped with a little cheese and yellow rice that tasted delicious! Then we got the beef soup and that was amazing AF. The intensity of the soup was just like the kind you get when you drink pho and the quantity was perfect. Meat was tender and the veggies in great proportion. We also ordered the "Camarones a la diabla" and although they were spicy, they were the right spicy that had you going for more. We had "Chiles rellenos" but we havent' had those yet. Our eyes got bigger than our tummies but we were beyond satisfied. I cannot end this review without repeating how amazing the yellow rice was. I only regretted not getting the chips and salsa and the guac, but Ill be back.

Wow, I can't believe I haven't reviewed them. This is hands down my favorite chorizo and eggs (chorizo con huevos) place I've eaten at. I crave it often and eat it often. The also have awesome enchiladas. And they also have my absolute favorite salsa verde here. Wow, it's super acidic and salty deliciousness. It's on their salsa bar, which is also amazing. Grilled jalapeños, fresh radishes and limes, different types of salsa and so on. Wonderful. There is a LOT of seating. It's nice, clean, and bright. The staff is absolutely wonderful. Definitely recommend a visit here.

After seeing pictures from my friends' visit here and hearing all the good things about it, it immediately went on my "must visit" list for when I'm back in town. Overall, it was a good experience and the food was good, but I must say that I was underwhelmed. On this visit, I had the ceviche tostada with the seafood soup and my husband had the three tacos platter. I did not try the tacos so I cannot give a fair review, however, my husband felt that they did not taste as authentic as street tacos that we have tried elsewhere. The ceviche was overpowered with too much lime and was therefore too sour for my liking. I would have like to see chunks of fish and shrimp but instead only saw tiny minced pieces of the seafood. The seafood soup was definitely more enjoyable for me. The soup base was jam packed with flavor and reminded me a lot of korean spicy seafood soup! For $12.75, I got a pretty nice size bowl of soup which was full of shrimps (medium size), mussels (small), and chunks of white fish. You get to choose between tortillas (corn or flour), bread, or rice to eat with the soup. I chose the corn tortillas and they were average but did complement the soup nicely. The prices here are pretty reasonable as far as Mexican restaurants are concerned. I would have loved to try the menudo as this is one of the things that my friends told me about (and oh boy the pictures are surely tempting). However, on this occasion, I did chicken out because I was afraid to have "bad menudo" and that's my fault. Perhaps I will give this place another try on another visit back home, just to try the menudo.

For a restaurant recessed in a tiny parking lot across from a supermercado in a part of town known for good Mexican food, Tacos El Tapatio wasn't very good. Dustin T. makes a lot of statements in his review that might bring his ability to review this kind of place into question, but his remark about the salsa is pretty accurate. That aside, the carnitas, barbacoa, and al pastor tacos I got ranged from middling (barbacoa) to dry (carnitas) in a careless way that was a little disheartening. If there was one highlight from my meal, it was the birria de chivo - the goat was tender and swimming in a flavorful broth that made for good but messy eating with some fresh tortillas on a slow Sunday afternoon. Tacos El Tapatio may not be among the better Mexican food in the neighborhood, but every place on Broadway has something to offer, and even it's just the goat birria, it's worth trying out. Certainly the large amount of regulars seem to think so.

The whole fried fish is delicious

This has been our go-to place for authentic Mexican food for years. Excellent food for an extremely reasonable price.

Authentic, cheap, and best of all there's next to no white people inside complaining that waitresses at a Mexican restaurant speak Spanish

When I came to the window I was greeted but not given a receipt to sign. I ordered a supreme quesadilla with carne asada steak and chips and salsa. I checked the bag and there was no salsa for the chips so I drove around to both the intercom and window and waited several minutes and no one said anything. It didn't take long upon me ordering the first time. Mind you they weren't busy. No one was there but me! So then I got out of the car and went in the lobby and they then gave me the sauce which were small sauce cups that they you usually for their El Gordo sauce. The lady told me they don't have bigger cups for the salsa that you order for the chips which is interesting considering you are paying for the chips and salsa.... Also, some of the steak pieces in the steak looked questionable and it made my stomach turn overall and I had to quit eating it. Note the bigger cup of salsa in the photo is a Chipotle salsa cup.
