I've been eating here religiously for 13+ years. Tacos el Rey has really ruined most mexican take out places for me - the flavors are so amazingly on point. The pastor is SO GOOD, so flavorful. My favorite is their carne asada - it's so flavorful and not just grilled meat. in my hundreds of orders they've never gotten my order wrong, once. it's also really cute to have seen the owners kids grow up while they've worked there. such a lovely, humble place that i'll cherish forever lol. read more

My boss recommended me to check out this place on my way down to Vancouver, WA for a work conference. I don't know why I am surprised that this restaurant serves (very) authentic Mexican food... but I am! I guess I just did not expect that of all places, Centralia would have anything remotely close to anything like this. I don't even know what I am even saying anymore. I ordered the Tacos, Enchiladas, and Flautas combo and complimentary fried jalapeños and grilled onions (you just have to ask when you place your order!). Everything was so on point and the jalapeños were actually legit spicy! My team members really seemed to enjoy their food as well. Service was good and fast and the ambiance was okay! The prices were very reasonable and they had so many different menu items. If I ever come through here again in the future, I will revisit to try their soups next time. read more

You get to know a restaurant after you've been there a dozen times or so. Every time we go there, the service is terrific and they're happy to see us. Now, let's get to the quality of the food: well prepared, great seasoning, and tortillas to die for. They really take pride in the quality of their food and it shows. This is by far the nastiest, Mexican food, I've eaten in Lewis County. The beans were burnt you can even see black pieces charred inside of the beans I asked for polo asado and I got shredded chicken The food was so bland. Their tortillas are made in-house which makes their tacos exceptional. Large indoor dining space and plenty of parking. Also offers drive thru ordering but I have not tried it. Front cashier service is below expectations - not very friendly. read more

Only giving this a 4 star because the fish taco was sub par. Not bad by any means but just didn't have that Je ne sais quoi. Fried jalapeño was spicy, YUM. I used the corn tortillas I got with I believe the Chile, for the side or rice and beans with salsas, yum. They have a generous bag of limes and radishes which I loved. Highly recommended by local people, so we tried it. We would not have gone in, based on the outside appearance. There is an extensive menu with many meat choices. We had to draw attention to no clean tables. The employee asked which table we wanted to sit at. We showed her; and that is the only table she wiped. The food was outstanding! The restaurant isn't much to look at, but the food is consistently very good. I like the tacos and the wet burrito. I attend a a chess club meeting in Centralia on Monday nights. Taco El Rey is my go to place for a pre-chess dinner. The lingua is particularly good, not the overcooked little eraser bits often found at food trucks. read more

Love love love Taco's El Rey. They have what I crave for all the time and more. Quesotaco with Birria, empanada (Al pastor), Carne Asada, their burritos, Carne Asada Fries is all a must haves. Their rice (arroz) on the other hand taste different from what I've had before tho. It taste like it was one of those packed Goya rice or rice with knor chicken bouillon with tomate. It doesn't give you the authentic homemade rice that I enjoy. But everything else is yummy. If my body can handle it I would come here 3 times a week. read more

The tacos were sub par in flavor, the carne asada was tough and lacking in seasoning, the service was ok but to get food in us it did it's job. Definitely on the pricey side for tacos and when asked for the tacos "to go" it was all rolled into one aluminum foil wrap, no plate no nothing. Unsure if the granular cheese topping was shake can parm or an unfamiliar hispanic variety but would skip that next time. I just found this place by my home and They have great authentic food everywhere else that has horchata has tasted very artificial but theirs was great and good horchata is hard to find. This place slaps. I had the California Burrito - it contained some of the best carnitas I've ever had. On par with anything in the state and comparable to a lot of places actually located in its namesake in terms of how juicy and tender the pork was, with some nice crispy bits mixed in. I have been to three Mexican restaurants in this town now and all of them have been excellent! I have been here twice now and both times the food was wonderful! The Asada tacos are tasty and infectious! The last time I was here I got the Super Burrito which was so big and so good! Other notable mentions go to the Carnitas as well! Simply wonderful tasting Mexican food! The place may look a little rough going into as the outside windows are boarded because they are damaged and cracked but do not let that be a deterrent for going in here. We came here as a backup when our La Tarasca plan fell through. It was cheap, fast, and the food was OK, but not especially great. It's pretty bare bones inside as far as decor (a roll of paper towels on every table, no sauces set out) and wasn't very well heated - although it looks like most people just come in for take-out, so maybe that's not an issue. Prices are cheap; the only thing I saw that was over $10 was the fajitas. My boyfriend had the carnitas platter ($9), which had generous portions but tasted pretty bland. The iceberg lettuce salad was covered in jalapeno peppers and cilantro, and kind of blah. My a la carte tacos ($1.50 each) were much better - the abodaba, recommended by other reviewers, was good and the al pastor was excellent. Other reviewers mentioned the lack of cleanliness. The bathroom was a bit dodgy but I didn't think it looked unsafe to eat there or anything. There are two big flat-screen TVs blaring nonstop, which can be distracting. Overall, a good place to grab a quick bite if you're on the road, or pick something up for takeout, but not a place you want to linger and soak up the ambience. We all shivered the entire dinner and the ceiling fans were running. It's Late December. Wet burrito pretty boring, carne asada fatty and dry, nothing fresh on it. Pico de gallo would've been a nice touch. My daughter ordered carne asada that came whole but was very difficult to cut and they only had butter knives despite asking for a steak knife.
