Tacos Don Lencho is a late night taco restaurant on the corner of Occidental and Rosalinda Guerrero Street in Colonia Longoria, Reynosa, and just a couple of blocks from Avenida Morelos. There is street parking available. They specialize in classic tacos al pastor, bistec, fajita, tripa, sincronizadas, quesadillas, papas (baked potatoes), flautas, tostadas, and more.
Don Lencho has a large covered porch style dining room as well as a smaller indoor air conditioned dining room. The larger dining area is large enough for pretty large groups, family gatherings, or just hungry visitors to this border city.
I don't frequent Reynosa by myself, but was hosted by a good longtime friend. He recommended Don Lencho's for some late night tacos, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. While it is informal, the food is great.
Drinks are limited to bottled soft drinks and bottled water. No aguas frescas.
Service was friendly, the food was delivered quickly, and the food was delicious. I ordered the tacos al pastor, loaded with everything including pineapple. Some places offer tacos al pastor (also known as tacos de trompo) which is marinated pork traditionally cooked on a verticle spit and sliced off as it is cooked. Some places don't have the vertical spit but Don Lencho does, and it makes a big difference in my opinion.
There are restrooms with toilets I did not see inside. There is a sink for hand washing, but the towel dispenser was empty, so I had to shake off excess water and pat dry on my jeans.
They served the order of tacos with a bowl of charro beans. The beans were not spicy, so I added some salsa and a squeeze of lime. The chips (totopos) were excellent and served with three salsas: a green salsa which was my favorite, pico de gallo, and a very spicy red salsa.
Don Lenchos is a chain with several locations in the area. Sunday - Thursday they are open 9 AM - 3 AM, and Friday - Saturday they are open 9 AM - 6 AM. So if you're out late, this is a great option for classic tacos and Mexican antojitos. read more
