Only thing I didnt enjoy was the drink but it helps when you're downing a spicy taco. (Friends input) I've never been a fan of horchata, it's just too sweet for me but my friend enjoyed it with ber taco bc it was too spicy. I didnt find the sauce to be spicy. The meal was enjoyable, authentic and fresh. Very pricey. Mulitas are 4.50 and tacos are 3.50. We arrived before they opened and watched people parked, ordered a to go plate or stayed. It gets full really quick and it definitely didn't die down. I went to Tacos 2day the exact day and moment that Sam Choy did o: he grabbed like 4 tacos lol I just asked for the same that he had. Lol So now MY review right..Ok so I think its like Tijuana but not like Mexicali tacos, they are much more like Tepic tacos! Authentic as the Mexicans who serve them. I'm so glad I finally tried Tacos 2 Day. They serve tacos, mulitas (like a quesadilla with, except with a corn tortilla instead of flour) and quesadillas. They have a decent assortment of meats to choose from, but I don't understand why no taqueria on this island offers carnitas? (At least I haven't found one yet). They have chorizo, carne asada, pork, shredded beef, chicken, tongue (my favorite), I live very close by and will be back on many Fridays and Saturdays to come. Best street tacos this side of the mainland! Lots of meat choices and everyone is so friendly and helpful. It's a church group fundraising venue. My favorite is the carne asada with lots of their spicy guacamole. Only on Friday evenings from 4 until they are sold around 8 ish. read more

I wanted this so bad. It had all the makings of a great place to get some authentic street tacos. They had a long line in the parking lot and everything was rigged together haphazardly. All the makings of a great taco stand. Mexican coke on ice, horchats in a big hug. I was thinking, I was thinking this would be my spot. Unfortunately wifey and I got sick afterwards. How do you not stop for the very happy Mexican fellow in a sombrero waving at you? We couldn't pass. Actually, we did but after a quick U-turn we were on our way back to an awesome treat. I understand this stand is only open Fridays and Saturday's. We all ordered our tacos. I had a chicken, a pork and an Asada. I didn't try the shredded beef but it looked good. They were all good. After passing the sign just about every Saturday, I made it a point to turn around and grab some tacos before work. I got 2 carne asada tacos, one adobada, and a horchata to go. The food was very tasty, but most of all, its inspiring to see a father working with his daughters, running their family business. Its cash only when they do their outdoor set up. Its neat how they throw up a tent in the parking lot and cook the food right out there. Plenty parking and lots of tables to sit at. Nope, sorry, definitely cannot recommend this spot. I stopped by for tacos one night- asked them if they can make veggie tacos, they told me "sure, no problem!" What I got were two overpriced, oily tortillas with only cheese and cilantro. My veggie tacos cost just as much as the meat tacos yet only consisted of a sprinkling of cheese and cilantro? I'm a Mexican from Calif. AKA Mexico # 2 Lol! I've lived here in Kona for about 10 yrs. now and wished there was a good ATHU Mexican Restaurant here in Kona or for that fact on the Big Island! I've tried them all both big and small inside and out! I always cook my own! I had 3 Mexican Restaurants that I sold when I left Cali! I love the Tacos here just wished they were priced more like Mexican Tacos! $3 ea. I have had all the different meats that they offer what is not a bad selections meats except Carnitas but including (lingua) Tongue Tortillas are not home made but all in all very tasty! We were staying in the Captain Cook area and chanced upon this Friday nights only "Tacos 2day" roadside tasty location. We loved it so much we returned the following Friday evening. As a side note, the same fund-raising group sell home made tamales each Saturday morning at the same location. We stopped by for those as well and they were equally delicious. Don't miss this place. Best tacos on the whole island. Seriously. This is the ONLY taco place that even comes close to tasting like all the tacos places near our house on the mainland. Be sure to like them on Facebook so that you can make sure they are serving tacos that day. They serve tacos most Friday evenings and they serve tamales on Saturdays. Sooooo good! Not that there are not a couple of others to be commended, ie; Habeneros at Keauhou, and the one that is right across from SAMs Hidaway ..( can't remember the name) But Tacos2day is great ! Only open EVERY Saturday and every OTHER Friday (although now their open every fri and sat ) Saturday is a guarantee.....quality , authentic, fresh, Mexican tacos and mulitas... The people who work there are awesome, friendly and very kind. Prices are reasonable $3.00 per taco $3.50 Mulitas , all with complimentary condiments, which include onions, finely shredded cabbage, and cilantro. Three types of sauces, mild green, hot red and avocado hot. Also red pickled onions and lime (a must) are available. There is plenty of seating outdoors under the tent, but this can fill up quickly.
