Our friends recommended that my family and I go to Killer Tacos for fast casual and GOOD food. This location was literally 10 mins from our hotel and we did not have much trouble finding it. The parking lot was full but we did find parking on the street. It was super easy to find. We arrived during lunch hour so there was definitely a line, it was busy but the line was moving fast. We got a table the moment we got there as my husband was waiting in line. I order the taco salad with chicken and it was HUGE! It was also very delicious, flavorful and fresh! The interior is very unassuming and sparse. Honestly, it doesn't matter one way or the other I just wanted to put that out there. I ordered the spicy ground beef soft taco. Oh, and if you want a hardshell taco, that's an extra $.50! That's crazy I added cheese to my taco and that was an extra charge.. Nothing spicy about the ground beef. I think all the good reviews about the food here come from people used to Del taco and Taco Bell. Don't get me wrong on that, however, if you're looking for an authentic Mexican taco skip this place! If you're hungry for some slightly below average Mexican food, You'll be fine here. I thought four dollars is a little expensive for a taco. It doesn't even look like a taco but rather looks like a mini burrito. The Good: Good for a quick bite. Nothing else to write home about. The Bad: parking can be challenging. No atmosphere. Large portions for very reasonable island prices. Friendly staff. Nothing wrong with this place, which is in a strip mall that isn't really conspicuous. The only negative is the salsa. If they could up their salsa game this place could be really good. We tried mild to spicy and it was something like tomato sauce on the the one and and tomato sauce with chili powder and hot sauce on the other. Killer Tacos is our go to place for lunch, and I just discovered I could place an online order. The online order system was weird, and it was going to make me wait 40 minutes to pick up an order of three burritos. I didn't really want to wait, so I just went to the store and waited in line with everyone else and told the worker that I had an online order. She was extremely rude about me picking up my order early and told me that I should call to tell them I'm coming soon. I waited in line with everyone else, which was basically like me ordering in person, so I don't get why she was rude about the order. Aside from the service, the food is always filling and tasty. I got the veggie burrito on the tomato basil wrap. The burrito is so heavy, and almost always lasts me two meals. I'm also very happy that they have the aguas frescas drinks! I had the lunch special, which were 2 hard tacos. I chose the beef, and it was seasoned really well and flavorful. The taco shell was fresh and had a really nice crunch when you bite into it. I've had my share of bad tacos, but this place truly takes the cake. Let's start with the parking -- it's a nightmare. Expect to circle around a few times or sit and wait for a spot to open up. The ambiance isn't much better. It's small, with a forgettable vibe -- nothing that stands out, good or bad. As for the food, it's just plain bland. And don't be fooled by the "nachos" on the menu -- what they serve is basically a pile of tortilla chips with a side of shredded cheese. Definitely not nachos. A small little shop in an industrial area of Kona that offers an excellent, affordable meal while on the island. They close at 6PM, but we were able to get dinner to go from the friendly staff just before. If you come in earlier, they have a fun, colorful, casual dining area to enjoy your meal after ordering at the counter. The kailua pig is excellent, whether in a burrito or on a salad. For the LOs, they have a pretty big, off-menu, bean and cheese burrito. Considering the pricing of food on the island, it is a joy to feed a family of four for about $55 before tip. Came here and got a fish taco, a spicy beer taco and a chicken taco. Not all mixed together those were 3 separate tacos. The fish tacos are evidently more expensive then the other tacos but the fish isn't even local it was Alaskan cod which was surprising to me. As well the spicy beef was not even spicy.
