I LOVE Taco tico's regular tacos. I grew eating taco tico. The one I think it was at 21st and Meridian. Mom would take us after a day of shopping at Twin Lakes mall. I don't live in Wichita anymore but try to make it to Taco tico when I visit. The price for a taco is 1.39 and it's always filled full with the right amount of everything. Don't waste your time. I would put no stars if it allowed me. We waited 30 minutes inside. Our order was almost given to another man. We were offered hot sauce that didn't exist. I didn't grow up with Taco Tico, so "discovering" it now was a nice alternative to, say, Taco Bell, Taco Shop, etc. Over the last few years, the Taco Tico on N Tyler has been great - solid food, excellent customer service, and good atmosphere. Until recently... Apparently they took over another Taco Tico on the east side (Rock?) and moved a lot of the staff and/or mgt over to that store. The result? This store on N Tyler now is HOOOORRIBLE at all the things I so enjoyed up to this point! The drive-thru is the slowest in town. Hands down. Are they better now than they were, say, six months ago? Sure. But slow is slow. Good grief. I can't TELL you how many of the employees go right outside the back door by the drive-thru order menu and smoke. Right there in front of you as you order. That's nice. Real nice. Occasionally one will slip off behind the trash cans, but it's still gross. The manager in charge - I assume she's the manager by the way she bosses people around - is rude. She puts on a face for the customer, but she is the worst to her employees. Recently a relatively new hire messed up an order, and she said positively, "It's all right. It'll get better. You'll get the hang of it." Then she proceeded to glare at her and took her off the register. Right in front of the customers. This was incredibly rude and not customer service oriented. She's one of the smokers by the menu, too. When our order was messed up and overcharged multiple times, the manager just kept saying, "We'll give you a taco!" I don't need a taco. Just give me my money back. Good grief. I know you're busy and it'll take more time, but offer that in the first place. Now that the other store is up, bring back the original staff and get this one back up and in tip-top shape. Otherwise you'll lose customers. read more

Spent 23 minutes in the Drive through. The man at the register was not very friendly. I had 7 items ordered and asked for extra sauce. He gave me 4. (I would have paid for it) When I asked for more sauce he told me I needed to go inside and get it. Been eating here as long as I can remember! Their logo used to be little man in a sombrero taking a siesta and the name TACO TICO in a diamond pattern. The napping mexican probably disappeared right after Sambo's changed it's name to Denny's for those of you old enough to remember the early 70's. Back to Taco Tico.....stopped there for tacos this afternoon because they are only 50 cents on Sundays and Tuesdays. Our favorite sauce is green chili and they actually put it on the food for you. Most places just give you sauce to put on yourself which is a messy job when eating on the go(driving). I love their enchilada's, tacoburgers, sanchos, and burritos too. I have been frequenting this location ever since we moved back to Wichita about 4 years ago now. The employees and managers are always friendly and do a good job. I remember they used to have crushed ice for their drinks back in the day and when they changed the ice along with some of the recipes in the late 80's they lost my business until word got out that due to customer demand they had returned to the recipes we grew up with. I know it's fast food and probably not as good for you as other types of meals so I only have it about once a month. It's nostalgia for me really. I can remember as a kid my Dad always took me to the restaurant of my choice for my birthday. I can still see the puzzled look on his face when I was about 7 or 8 and my answer was Taco Tico!!!!! It was my first time. I asked what was in the taco tico, and she was confused. I asked her again, she was confused again. Then I asked her what is all on your taco? After she understood, she said taco meat and etc. I asked what type of meat, she said meat. I said what type of meat, she said taco meat. I had to break it down to her and ask her if it's chicken, beef, or what. She then told me. Then I asked her a common question about burgers if it can come wrapped in letttuce. She was confused again. Not sure if her comprehension skills were on the minimum or what but she was super challenging to deal with. After I placed the order, my order didn't come with the right sauce. They gave me a hard time when I mentioned it. They demanded my taco back. This uncertain server, that was stumbling everywhere, assuming on drugs, came back touched my taco with his hands and gave it to me. My friend mentioned he touched the taco, and he said, "no I didn't." They went back and forth, and she just stopped trying because the conversation wasn't going anywhere. When we looked at the taco, it was the same taco with the same sauce it originally came with. This location was literally ran by imcompetent people, to say at the very least. read more

I went through the drive through and didn't get my $9.00 in change as soon as I pulled out on to Tyler I noticed I immediately called and turned around the manager said to come back and she would count the drawer. I went in and notified the person at the counter I was there and why, he turned to tell the manager who was preparing food. At which time she said..." I don't have your money and I am not going to check because I don't believe you! Hello all I wanted to say this place is disgusting. I worked here for about two years and over that time there has been white mold in the fridge, dead mice hanging on cords in the ceiling, and grease over flowing onto the floor. I wouldn't recommend eating here the place is really bad in terms of cleanliness. I remember having to get down on my hands and knees to scrape 1/4 inch of grease off the floor. I wouldn't recommend eating here if you have standards on cleanliness. Though all their food is in date but it's not good if where they store say open boxes of tomatoes is around white mold spores. Also they don't clean the tea container enough so usually there is bacterial film growing at the bottom. Lastly is that there is black mold usually in the soda machines because no one washes them. I hope you find this useful from a former employee stand point. read more

If there was a way to give them no stars I would. My husband and I were there on Monday. First thing they did wrong was they didn't give my husband his drink. Then we got home my husband found a piece of hair in my sons food and then when he was eating his food he found a bunch of hair in his taco and a piece of fuzz. It was so nasty. I couldn't even finish my food. It made me feel so sick. I wouldn't suggest anyone go to this location. It was the worst food experience ever. read more
