    Crunchy shell tacos

Was in the plaza and I saw a Now Open sign for Taco King! I love trying new places so I wanted to get a few tacos for dinner. Walking in, the restaurant is nice and clean. Plenty of seating for dine-in. There were also an eye capturing display of desserts by the front door. We went straight back to the counter and ordered with the cashier. He answered our questions. There were a few things that we didn't see on the menu that they were able to accommodate. For their jr tacos, they didn't state on the menu if it can be changed to flour tortillas - it can. They also don't have camaron - shrimp - listed on the jr tacos but they can make it. We ordered about 6 tacos, 2 drinks and a side of rice & beans. It came out to under about $45. The food only took about 10 minutes which was great! We did take out and ate it at home. Great taste. I didn't like that they used baby shrimp in the shrimp taco. The carne asada was a bit dry but a great portion size. They also have a pretty appealing lunch special - 3 tacos + rice and beans for $9.99. I would come back and try that for sure.

I really wanted to like this place, but it left much to be desired. The tacos were below average, but the birria one was pretty good. I got the steak chimichanga and it had more rice and beans than steak. I could literally count on one hand the pieces of steak in it, and it's actually quite small for the price. As much as I'd love to support this small business I have to say I won't visit again.

I wanted to love this place but the food is mediocre at best. If the prices were cheaper, it would make sense, however the quality and portion of the food doesn't match what they're charging. Of course this is my opinion. If I'm paying $17+ for 3 tacos and rice and beans, then there are actual places that offer higher quality steak and larger portions. The steak tacos were dry with lots of gristle, tasted off, almost like freezer burn. The restaurant was clean and the waitress was attentive. Unfortunately it's not enough for me to come back.

::::Insert eyeroll here ::: I was so excited to have an authentic taco spot near my house. I left my workout class today and decided to stop and pick up some food. The place was clean and well lit inside. The lady that helped me was super nice and helpful with the questions I had. I asked If I could get crunchy tacos or did they only have soft. She told me I could get crunchy. I ordered one beef , one chicken and one spicy pork all with extra cheese. The food came out quickly and she gave me a menu and told me I can order ahead next time. I got home opened the box. 3 tacos with extra cheese for sure but they were SOFT TACOS Ugh. Anywho I decided I wasn't going back so I ate them. The beef taco was just ok. The chicken one was dry and the spicy pork has no taste whatsoever. What a disappointment great friendly service but the food was very underwhelming.

Brand new Taco King located east of the Home Depot. Cute little Mexican restaurant with big taco flavor! They have takeout too! Service was good. Very attentive and owner visited our table and made her recommendations. Which I have posted below.

She needs to be fired !

It was quite windy this time around but it was welcome with the May heat. As a note, there's a big parking lot (pay through Park Mobile) and the cost to park was reasonable. We were seated right away and our waiter was Jeremiah who couldn't be more pleasant. I had tea (they brought out a mini teapot) and my husband had coffee (they came around for refills). I chose to have the Crème Brûlée French toast which was one of the specials. It was good and not too too sweet (but still quite filling). My husband opted for the Vegetarian omelette which came with toast and potatoes (or grits). He said his omelette was fabulous and would be a redo. We will definitely be back!

The many times that I've been here, the food and drink have always hit just right and the service is quick - even when the place is packed. The berry Greek yogurt crepes are tangy, sweet, crunchy, and all together, a great combination of flavors and textures. There are so many berries - enough for each bite. The granola is the perfect juxtaposition to the soft, thin crepes that are filled with a tangy yogurt. The portion size is more than enough for one person, possibly even two. Unless I'm driving, I always start off my meal with one of their cocktails. My two favorites are their piña colada and bloody Mary. They're both tall, strong, and flavorful - perfect while watching to waves crash into the shore. I would also recommend their spanakopita when it's on their specials. Their Greek omelet is delicious too. This is a great place to bring out of town guests, and the great part about this place besides its food and drink is that you can take a leisurely stroll on the beach after breakfast or brunch and make the day extra special!

Lovely hardworking family. Not a lot of signage and the door opens to the kitchen which gets you into a speakeasy. Was greeted by the owners and the local patrons from the assisted living residents. This was a first for us. We got pecan short cake (delish, but sweet), chicken fried. Steak (very substantial, had home fries extra crisp very good) dirty dirty grits, (mixed grits with bacon ham and onions, covered with cheese). All were delicious, and generous portions. We all enjoyed the good food and company. Total worth checking out, support your local mom and pop businesses.

As would be expected with a condo, there is very little guest parking - maybe 9 spaces- and they were all full. Thus, I parked on the street behind the condo. There is lots of free street parking all over this area, which is mostly residential. There is some construction being done on the front and side of the building, so the entrance is a little hard to find. It is on the West side of the building, and it doesn't look like the entrance to a restaurant AT ALL! Just a side door propped open with a large, wooden, hand-painted sign next to it announcing the Cafe. I walked into the door and accidentally turned into the kitchen. The cook greeted me warmly and redirected me down the other hallway. I loved this place already! The Cafe looks like an old Southern diner, in a very not-decorated-by-a-designer way, which felt very homey to me. Two diners greeted us when we came in, we sat ourselves at a booth table, and eventually our wonderfully eclectic and kind storytelling waitress brought us menus. The menus are lovingly written in a colloquial, storytelling style that is fun and warm to read. Otherwise, the peeling laminate menus are wonderfully non designed also, and again, I love this! The board of daily specials was special with cornbread french toast amongst the items. I loved seeing more than one regular menu item I have never seen anywhere else (grits inside an egg wrap. My friend chose a breakfast quesadilla. I chose to make my own meal by ordering a slice of (heavily touted on the menu) banana bread, hashbrown casserole, and grits with cheese. I loved every bite! The hashbrown casserole was giant, and crisped all over the outside, so cutting it open was a treat- delicious. The banana bread was light, moist, and also delicious. The grits with cheese were nothing different or special, which was exactly as I expected. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this quirky hidden cafe! Shoot! I am already craving hashbrown casserole and banana bread again...
