We had a good lunch here. This location has been quite a few different restaurants and we've tried several of them, I think this one might finally make it. The restaurant is located in the Home Depot plaza on the east side of Jog road. It's down the row from Sally's. They had a couple specials including one with 3 tacos that came with rice and beans. The menu is extensive. One thing I especially liked was the size choices as many of the items come in your choice of large or in "junior" sizes. To start we had a junior elote "en vaso". It was served in a paper cup with a spoon. Our server brought us another cup so we could share. There was a lot of cheese and mayo in it along with the corn. She brought the bottle of tajine on the side to add. It was good with the spice and a touch of salt. My husband chose the junior burrito combo plate that came with rice and refried beans. He had the ground beef. The junior size was plenty big and the meal was filling. I had a shrimp taco and a steak taco. I had them leave off the onions. They came with lettuce, tomato and cheese. I liked the shrimp taco better. It had lots of small grilled shrimp. The steak one was okay, but the small pieces of meat were rather dry. They gave us two sauces with our meal -- one green and one red. The red was very hot and the green was extremely hot. Gringos beware. Taste a tiny bit first before pouring these over your meal. Was in the plaza and I saw a Now Open sign for Taco King! I love trying new places so I wanted to get a few tacos for dinner. Walking in, the restaurant is nice and clean. Plenty of seating for dine-in. There were also an eye capturing display of desserts by the front door. We went straight back to the counter and ordered with the cashier. He answered our questions. There were a few things that we didn't see on the menu that they were able to accommodate. For their jr tacos, they didn't state on the menu if it can be changed to flour tortillas - it can. They also don't have camaron - shrimp - listed on the jr tacos but they can make it. We ordered about 6 tacos, 2 drinks and a side of rice & beans. It came out to under about $45. The food only took about 10 minutes which was great! We did take out and ate it at home. Great taste. I didn't like that they used baby shrimp in the shrimp taco. The carne asada was a bit dry but a great portion size. They also have a pretty appealing lunch special - 3 tacos + rice and beans for $9.99. I would come back and try that for sure. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but it left much to be desired. The tacos were below average, but the birria one was pretty good. I got the steak chimichanga and it had more rice and beans than steak. I could literally count on one hand the pieces of steak in it, and it's actually quite small for the price. I wanted to love this place but the food is mediocre at best. If the prices were cheaper, it would make sense, however the quality and portion of the food doesn't match what they're charging. Of course this is my opinion. If I'm paying $17+ for 3 tacos and rice and beans, then there are actual places that offer higher quality steak and larger portions. The steak tacos were dry with lots of gristle, tasted off, almost like freezer burn. The restaurant was clean and the waitress was attentive. The place was clean and well lit inside. The lady that helped me was super nice and helpful with the questions I had. I asked If I could get crunchy tacos or did they only have soft. She told me I could get crunchy. I ordered one beef , one chicken and one spicy pork all with extra cheese. The food came out quickly and she gave me a menu and told me I can order ahead next time. I got home opened the box. 3 tacos with extra cheese for sure but they were SOFT TACOS Ugh. Anywho I decided I wasn't going back so I ate them. The beef taco was just ok. The chicken one was dry and the spicy pork has no taste whatsoever. What a disappointment great friendly service but the food was very underwhelming. read more

We ate dinner a couple of nights ago and enjoyed it. We're had chicken quesadillas and chicken and steak tacos with a side of fries. We enjoyed the meal, the pork taco was a little bland but had some nice sauces on the table to add some kick. I know crinkle fries are not Mexican but they were piping hot and great. I never use ketchup but I was using one of the sauces on my fries. I would be happy to go again. Yes the prices are more but in keeping with other places, especially given the current prices going up. Service was nice too and enjoyed the upgrades they made from the previous taco place. First visit dined in and had an ok experience. Food is just ok. Be aware that if you don't pay cash they charge more per item so menu reflects cash price. Second time decided to carry out. Got home to find out they messed up the order. This seems like a consistent theme in the reviews I've seen. Too much effort for just ok food especially if I have to open every food item to verify it's made right before I carry out. There are plenty of other choices locally for Mexican food. We really wanted to love a new taco place in the area but after tonight we will not be ordering there again. Ordered for pick up. There were street corn signs everywhere and out of street corn. We saw the chef take fish out of the freezer for fish tacos. We wanted a margarita while we waited for the food but they had no more regular margaritas. Tried to order guacamole when we got there and again, no guacamole. Chips were ok. No salt what so ever. My chicken tacos were dry. No option for a flour tortilla. Sad to say- Taco king was really disappointing. We were the only people in there and the service was crazy slow. Once the server came over she was really nice but the food was sub par. Its sad because we NEED new restaurants in our area! The burrito was not even wrapped it was folded over and messy served on foil so when you cut it you ate foil.
